Sunday Forecast

8:18AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 31-AUGUST 4)…
A couple unsettled days as July ends and August begins as high pressure sits to the north, not strong enough as I thought earlier, to hold off a series of disturbances crossing southern New England. High pressure overtakes the region along with a return to the feel of summer by the middle of the week.
TODAY: Mainly cloudy. Episodes of scattered showers. Highs 71-78 coast, 75-81 interior. Wind light E.
TONIGHT: Mainly cloudy. Scattered showers. Lows 62-69, warmest urban areas. Wind light E.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Highs 75-83, coolest coast. Wind light E.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated showers. Lows 62-69, warmest urban areas. Highs 77-85, coolest coast.
WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows 63-70, warmest urban areas. Highs 78-87, coolest South Coast.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows 65-72, warmest urban areas. Highs 80-90, coolest South Coast.

DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 5-9)…
Heat and humidity dominant August 5-6 with only a few isolated showers and thunderstorms mainly August 6. A period of showers/thunderstorms August 7 leading to cooler/drier weather by August 8-9.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 10-14)…
Below normal temperatures early in the period recover to near to above normal late in the period. Mainly dry weather.

Saturday Forecast

7:48AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 30-AUGUST 3)…
A bit of a split decision this weekend as high pressure controls today and the weather is quite nice for outdoor activities. Though Sunday will not be a wash-out by any stretch, much more cloudiness will prevail and a few episodes of showers are likely as high pressure to the north and weak low pressure to the south wage a “quiet” battle. This will likely continue Monday into Tuesday, before warmth and humidity become more noticeable by Wednesday.
TODAY: Sunshine much of the time. More clouds late. Highs 78-83 coast, 83-88 interior. Wind light variable with sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Clouding up. Risk of showers after midnight. Lows 62-67 except 67-72 urban areas. Wind light SE.
SUNDAY: Mainly cloudy. Episodes of scattered showers. Highs 73-78 coast, 78-83 interior. Wind light E.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers. Lows 62-69, warmest urban areas. Highs 75-83, coolest coast.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated showers. Lows 62-69, warmest urban areas. Highs 77-85, coolest coast.
WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy. Lows 63-70, warmest urban areas. Highs 78-87, coolest South Coast.

DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 4-8)…
Heat and humidity dominant August 4-6 with only a few isolated showers and thunderstorms mainly August 6. A period of showers/thunderstorms August 7 leading to cooler/drier weather by August 8, based on current timing.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 9-13)…
Below normal temperatures early in the period recover to near to above normal late in the period. Mainly dry weather.

Friday Forecast

6:45AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 29-AUGUST 2)…
A cold front dropping through the region and washing out and low pressure moving eastward and passing south of the region will combine for a muggy and somewhat wet day, with mostly light rain with embedded heavier showers during this morning and early afternoon. A shield of heavier rain will skirt the South Coast. Additional isolated showers and a slight risk of thunderstorms this afternoon as clouds try to break and the atmosphere remains somewhat unstable. High pressure builds in Saturday with a nice mid summer day of warmth, lower humidity, and a fair amount of sun. Clouds make a comeback Sunday but any rain threat is likely be limited to just isolated showers as high pressure tries to hold on, keeping most of the moisture from a disturbance to the south and west of the area. The struggle between this disturbance to the south and high pressure to the north will likely continue during the first couple of days of August, gradually won by the high pressure area which slowly sinks southward over the region.
TODAY: Overcast through early afternoon with periods of light rain but also embedded scattered heavier showers, also a period of moderate to heavy rain near the South Coast mid morning to early afternoon. Breaking clouds mid afternoon on with scattered to isolated showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Humid. Highs 72-80. Wind variable becoming mostly E 5-15 MPH then shifting more to the N late in the day.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Patchy fog. Humid. Lows 60-68. Wind light NW.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Less humid. Highs 80-88, warmest interior areas. Wind light N with coastal sea breezes.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy. Lows 62-70, warmest urban areas. Wind light variable.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy. Isolated showers favoring the South Coast. Highs 78-86, coolest coastal areas. Wind light variable to light SE.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Lows 60-68, warmest urban areas. Highs 77-85, coolest coast.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 60-68, warmest urban areas. Highs 78-86, coolest coast.

DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 3-7)…
Increasingly warm to hot and more humid August 3-6 with mainly dry weather other than isolated showers/storms by August 6. Scattered showers/thunderstorms, warm/humid August 7.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 8-12)…
Cooling trend but mainly dry weather dominating.

Thursday Forecast

7:40AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 28-AUGUST 1)…
Heat and a gradual increase in humidity today as high pressure sinks to the south. A front drops down this evening and tonight and may set off a few showers and thunderstorms this evening especially in southern NH and northern to central MA. The front doesn’t get much further than that and then washes out. Low pressure makes a run at the region Friday but I still feel that the heaviest rain will be across far southern areas, leaving just scattered showers/thunderstorms to the north. High pressure will arrive Saturday with fair weather. A disturbance may produce a few showers later Sunday and Monday but that does not look like much at this time.
TODAY: Partly cloudy. Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms late afternoon and evening. Increasing humidity. Highs 75-80 Cape Cod, 80-86 other coastal areas, 86-93 elsewhere.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Risk of a few showers early. Humid. Lows 63-70. Wind light variable.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain favoring the South Coast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. Highs 75-83, coolest South Coast. Wind SE to NE 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Lows 62-68. Highs 76-85, coolest Cape Cod.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated showers late. Lows 62-68. Highs 76-85, coolest Cape Cod.
MONDAY: Variably cloudy. Isolated showers early. Lows 62-68. Highs 78-87, coolest Cape Cod.

DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 2-6)…
Building heat/humidity. Mainly dry other than a few isolated pop up showers and thunderstorms later in the period.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 7-11)…
Warm and often humid with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms at times.

Wednesday Forecast

7:37AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 27-31)…
No significant changes from yesterday’s thinking. Does Boston reach 90 to extend their heatwave today? We should know by about noon. Otherwise another bright, hot, but dry day today. A little less hot, a little more humid, and a slight risk of a few showers and storms by later Thursday. Still looks like Friday is our best shot at rain, but that said, it doesn’t look like much in most locations, with steadiest rain from passing low pressure to the south likely to occur along the South Coast. High pressure is expected to keep the weekend dry, moderately humid, but not too hot.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 75-82 Cape Cod, 82-88 other coastal areas, 88-95 interior areas. Wind light W except coastal sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 65-72. Wind light variable becoming light S.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy. Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms afternoon and evening. Increasing humidity. Highs 75-80 Cape Cod, 80-86 other coastal areas, 86-92 elsewhere.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain favoring the South Coast. Isolated afternoon showers interior areas. Lows 63-70. Highs 75-83, coolest South Coast.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Lows 62-68. Highs 76-85, coolest Cape Cod.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Lows 62-68. Highs 76-85, coolest Cape Cod.

DAYS 6-10 (AUGUST 1-5)…
Gradual building of heat and humidity during the first several days of August. Mainly dry weather overall, but a risk of pop up showers and thunderstorms later in the period.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 6-10)…
Hot and humid start to the period then less heat with a slightly better risk of a few showers and thunderstorms at times. Still not seeing any widespread beneficial rainfall very likely in this pattern.

Tuesday Forecast

1:37AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 26-30)…
The humidity leaves, but the heat hangs on today, and as a west wind blows and dries the air out, it will really heat up during the day. Sunshine will be abundant today, and again Wednesday, but the difference will be lighter winds on Wednesday and coastal sea breezes. Boston’s 5-day heatwave will become 6 days today, but it is questionable whether or not they reach 90 on Wednesday, depending on the sea breeze timing. Regardless, many areas away from the coast will still reach or exceed 90 on Wednesday, though humidity will remain low. Thursday, a southerly flow will take over as high pressure slides to the east and a weak trough and cold front approaches from the northwest. Though it will not be as hot, an increase in humidity will make it feel hot still, and add to it a risk of a few isolated showers and thunderstorms later in the day. The weak cold front will make it through the region, barely, by early Friday, and a weak wave of low pressure will move along it. This will bring a risk of some rain to southeastern areas, with less risk to the north and west. By Saturday, high pressure from the north will push the remains of the front further south, bringing dry weather, but a lighter north to east air flow will keep heat away as well.
TODAY: Sunny. Lowering humidity. Highs 82-90 Cape Cod, 90-98 elsewhere. Wind W 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 66-74, warmest in urban areas. Wind W 5-15 MPH, diminishing overnight.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny. Highs 75-82 Cape Cod, 82-88 other coastal areas, 88-94 interior areas. Wind light W except coastal sea breezes.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms afternoon and evening. Increasing humidity. Lows 65-72. Highs 75-80 Cape Cod, 80-86 other coastal areas, 86-92 elsewhere.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain favoring the South Coast. Lows 63-70. Highs 75-83, coolest South Coast.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny. Lows 62-68. Highs 76-85, coolest Cape Cod.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 31-AUGUST 4)…
High pressure should keep a disturbance mainly south of the region with perhaps a few South Coast showers on Sunday July 31 and temperatures mild to warm, not hot, and moderate humidity. Heat and humidity builds during the first several days of August along with mainly dry weather or just a few isolated diurnal showers/thunderstorms.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 5-9)…
Hot and humid start to the period then less heat with a better risk of a few showers and thunderstorms mid to late period.

Monday Forecast

7:25AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 25-29)…
This week will feature some changing weather, with a return to humidity and some heat today, along with a shower and thunderstorm risk, though this may be limited as much of the support for activity ends up tracking both north and south of southern New England. Either way, it’s close enough that we need to watch closely for a few strong storms that could get into the region especially late day and evening. High pressure builds in with drier air but the heat will still be around Tuesday. Fair weather continues at midweek as high pressure remains in control, though coastal sea breezes will keep beaches cooler than inland areas. By late Thursday, moisture may increase at least in the form of clouds, and by Friday, expect the risk of showers and thunderstorms to return, though at this point it doesn’t look like a widespread dumping of rain, so the drought conditions will likely worsen overall during the upcoming several days.
TODAY: Variably cloudy. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly afternoon and evening. Any storms could be locally strong. Increasingly humid. Highs 75-80 Nantucket, 80-87 coast, 88-95 interior. Wind S to SW 5-15 MPH with a few higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Isolated showers and thunderstorms early. Muggy evening. Lowering humidity overnight. Lows 65-73, warmest in urban locations. Wind light SW to W.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 80-86 Cape Cod and Islands, 87-95 elsewhere. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 60-68. Highs 78-85 coast, 86-92 interior.
THURSDAY: Sunshine then clouds late. Lows 60-68. Highs 78-85 coast, 86-92 interior.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny. Scattered showers/thunderstorms. Humid. Lows 62-70. Highs 77-84 coast, 85-91 interior.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 30-AUGUST 3)…
High pressure to the north will drift down and keep a low pressure area to the south away from the region during the weekend of July 30-31 with mainly dry weather, moderate humidity, and warmest temperatures over inland locations while it’s a bit cooler near the coast. High pressure builds over the region with increasing heat again August 1-3.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 4-8)…
Hot and humid early in the period, then warm and muggy with a few showers/thunderstorms mid to late period.

Sunday Forecast

7:43AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 24-28)…
After a couple days where some areas had “fun” with thunderstorms, that is, eventful storms that included some but not necessarily all of the following: torrential rain, lightning strikes, hail, damaging wind … as a result of a couple disturbances interacting with hot air and humidity, we’re now in for a day that will be very warm and dry and storm-free as high pressure dominates the region today. But in true New England fashion, it won’t last long this way, as another disturbance from the west drags a warm front followed by a cold front across the region Monday, resulting in a blast of heat and humidity, and a few rounds of showers and thunderstorms. We’ll have to watch for some strong storms once again. High pressure builds in with warm/dry weather Tuesday-Wednesday before humidity returns Thursday.
TODAY: Sunny morning and midday. Increasing clouds later. Highs 78-85 Cape Cod and Islands, 86-92 elsewhere. Wind NW 5-15 MPH becoming light variable late.
TONIGHT: Variably cloudy. Lows 63-68 except 68-73 urban centers. Wind light S to SW.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Passing areas of showers morning. A few episodes of showers/thunderstorms likely mid afternoon on from west to east. Any storms could be strong. Humid. Highs 84-91 South Coast except cooler parts of Cape Cod, 92-98 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. Less humid. Lows 65-75, warmest urban areas. Highs 80-86 South Coast, 87-93 elsewhere.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 62-72, warmest urban areas. Highs 80-90, coolest South Coast.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. More humid. Chance of late-day showers. Lows 63-73, warmest urban areas. Highs 80-90, coolest South Coast.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 29-AUGUST 2)…
Humid with a risk of showers/thunderstorms July 29. A little less humid with only isolated showers over the weekend of July 30-31. Similar weather to start August. Temperatures above normal.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 3-7)…
A fairly humid and warm period with a few episodes of showers/thunderstorms but still limited rainfall in most areas.

Saturday Forecast

9:05AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 23-27)…
Heat remains, humidity comes down a bit, but a disturbance still brings the risk of a few showers and thunderstorms, especially to southern NH, northern MA, and eastern MA, later in the day today. High pressure dominates with dry and very warm weather on Sunday. Heat/humidity comes back full force Monday but a cold front approaching will bring the risk of showers/thunderstorms again later in the day. Humidity lowers but heat hangs around Tuesday-Wednesday as high pressure moves in.
TODAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Isolated showers and thunderstorms mainly southern NH as well as northern and eastern MA mid to late afternoon ending early evening. Any storms that form could be strong. Highs 80-87 Cape Cod and Islands, 88-95 elsewhere. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 67-77, warmest urban areas. Wind light NW.
SUNDAY: Sunny morning and midday. Increasing clouds later. Highs 78-85 Cape Cod and Islands, 86-92 elsewhere. Wind NW 5-15 MPH becoming light variable late.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of afternoon and evening showers/thunderstorms. Humid. Lows 65-75, warmest urban areas. Highs 84-91 South Coast, 92-98 elsewhere.
TUESDAY: Partly cloudy. Less humid. Lows 65-75, warmest urban areas. Highs 80-86 South Coast, 87-93 elsewhere.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Lows 62-72, warmest urban areas. Highs 80-90, coolest South Coast.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 28-AUGUST 1)…
Humidity returns as does the risk of showers/thunderstorms late July 28 and July 29. Lower humidity over the weekend of July 30-31 with fair weather. Similar weather August 1. Temperatures above normal.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 2-6)…
A fairly humid and warm period with a few episodes of showers/thunderstorms.

Friday Forecast

7:08AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 22-26)…
Heat and humidity will be the story today with an increasing risk of showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms may end up severe, but the question becomes: who is most likely to see such storms? At this point, the answer is: anybody. But the key is coverage. I don’t think overall coverage will end up being too widespread, so for all the threat that exists, there are likely to be many areas with minimal or no impact from storms. Timing of potential storms will be anywhere in the window from about 2PM to about 10PM, favoring western areas of MA to start, central and east central MA by evening, and southeastern MA, CT, and RI evening into early at night. Any storms may contain damaging wind gusts, hail, torrential downpours, and frequent lightning. Activity settles down and departs overnight. Saturday will be another hot and rather humid day, but the edge may come off the humidity as one trough line will have moved through. A second one of these will approach later in the day and a few isolated thunderstorms may result. After the passage of this trough, we’ll be set up for a very warm to hot and less humid Sunday. Humidity returns Monday, along with heat, as another disturbance approaches from the west, bringing the next risk of showers and thunderstorms late Monday possibly into Tuesday.
TODAY: Intervals of clouds and sun. A few isolated showers are possible early. Isolated thunderstorms possible by mid to late afternoon favoring areas north and west of Boston. Humid. Highs 80-88 South Coast, 89-97 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Variably cloudy. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms may end up favoring areas west and south of Boston. Any storms may be strong to locally severe. Humid. Lows 67-74, warmest urban areas. Wind SW to variable 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Partly to mostly sunny. Slight risk of isolated thunderstorms. Humid. Highs 80-87 Cape Cod and Islands, 88-95 elsewhere. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Humid. Lows 67-77, warmest urban areas. Wind light NW.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Less humid. Highs 78-85 Cape Cod and Islands, 86-92 elsewhere.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of afternoon and evening showers/thunderstorms. Humid. Lows 65-75, warmest urban areas. Highs 84-91 South Coast, 92-98 elsewhere.
TUESDAY: Variably cloudy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. Humid. Lows 65-75, warmest urban areas. Highs 80-86 South Coast, 87-93 elsewhere.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 27-31)…
High pressure builds out of Canada with warm and less humid weather July 27. More humidity and a risk of showers/storms returning sometime July 28-29 before a return to warm to hot and dry weather by the end of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (AUGUST 1-5)…
A fairly humid and warm period with a few episodes of showers/thunderstorms.

Thursday Forecast

7:01AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 21-25)…
During the overnight hours, a clear sky, light wind, and low dew point allowed temperatures to drop into the 50s in many areas away from the cities, while the asphalt and cement of the urban areas held temperatures in the 60s – the urban heat island effect. But this morning the sun will go to work and temperatures will heat up fairly rapidly and end up fairly uniformly in the 80s in all areas by about noon. The difference during the afternoon will be less pronounced, but still there, as many interior areas make a run at 90 while the coast is a little cooler due to a light sea breeze. So today will be a good clear air natural weather lab kind of day in southern New England. As high pressure sinks to the south and a southwest wind flow gets going by tonight, the humidity will increase, and this will lead to a hot and humid day on Friday, but an approaching upper level disturbance and series of surface troughs will lead to more cloudiness at times as well as the risk of a few waves of scattered showers and thunderstorms right into Friday night. Any storms have the potential to be strong, but at this time it does not look as if the entire area will be swept with strong or severe storms and that such weather will be isolated to scattered at best. The heat will hang around for the weekend though may ease back slightly for part of the weekend. Saturday will still carry a slight risk of isolated thunderstorms as a final disturbances traverses the area. The next disturbance due later Monday will again increase the risk of showers and storms.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 75-82 Cape Cod and Islands, 82-87 other coastal areas but may cool down slightly during the afternoon, 87-92 elsewhere. Wind light W but with light coastal sea breezes developing.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Increasingly humid. Lows 60-65 except 65-70 urban areas. Wind light SW.
FRIDAY: Intervals of clouds and sun. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. Humid. Highs 78-85 South Coast, 86-93 elsewhere. Wind SW 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. Any storms may be strong to locally severe. Humid. Lows 67-74, warmest urban areas. Wind SW to variable 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Partly to mostly sunny. Slight risk of isolated thunderstorms. Humid. Highs 80-87 Cape Cod and Islands, 88-95 elsewhere. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Humid. Lows 67-74, warmest urban areas. Wind light NW.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Humid. Highs 78-85 Cape Cod and Islands, 86-92 elsewhere.
MONDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of afternoon and evening showers/thunderstorms. Humid. Lows 65-75, warmest urban areas. Highs 84-91 South Coast, 92-98 elsewhere.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 26-30)…
Warm and humid with a risk of additional showers and thunderstorms July 26 as a disturbance passes through the region and a frontal boundary sits nearby. High pressure brings fair, warm, and less humid weather July 27. More humidity and a risk of showers/storms returning sometime July 28-29 before a return to warm to hot and dry weather by the end of the period.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 31-AUGUST 4)…
A warm to hot and dry start then humidity returns with a few episodes of showers/thunderstorms at times in the early days of August.

Wednesday Forecast

3:08AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 20-24)…
An area of high pressure will provide sunshine and dry air today and Thursday, with a range in temperature from almost a little bit of a chill to start this morning to a mid summer feel by Thursday afternoon. Add humidity and more heat to the mix Friday, along with an approaching disturbance from the northwest, and the result will be scattered showers and thunderstorms. This will move away for the weekend but this time don’t expect a refreshing air mass behind it. Expect more heat and humidity.
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 77-85, coolest coastal areas. Wind light variable with coastal sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 53-58 interior, 58-63 coast. Wind light variable becoming light W.

SUNDAY: Hazy sunshine. Humid. Lows 65-75, warmest urban areas. Highs 83-88 Cape Cod, 88-93 immediate shore, 94-99 elsewhere.

DAYS 6-10 (JULY 25-29)…
Hot and humid with showers and thunderstorms possible July 25. Less humid and a little less hot with fair weather July 26-27. Risk of showers/thunderstorms again July 28-29 with humidity increasing.

DAYS 11-15 (JULY 30-AUGUST 3)…
Less humid again early period then more humid with a few additional showers/thunderstorms in the early days of August. Temperatures above normal.

Sunday Forecast

7:59AM

DAYS 1-5 (JULY 17-21)…
Disturbances moving through the region today will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms until late in the day.
