    1. This flowchart should have been distributed in many languages to New Yorkers on March 5th, Bostonians on March 10th, Houstonians, Phoenixians, Miamians, and Tampanians on June 1st.

      1. Thanks, JPD. It was, Joshua, but I like the idea of repeating. Seems a lot gets lost…..such as common sense. 😉

      2. Yup

I am readying myself for a huge surge in this state as well
as the rest of the country. Open up too early = disaster!!!
I hold Mr. DUMP totally and completely responsible. I cannot believe this country elected such an IDIOT!!
Can’t fix stupid! The rest of us now have to suffer because
        Morons voted!

        1. Found out last night that 90% of parents in Sutton will send kids back which of course is absolutely their right and their decision to make alone. We have an exceptional school system, but I worry this will delay putting together a robust in home system. I’ll be the first to Happily say I was wrong, but I do believe we will end up closing schools once flu and an uptick in covid hits.

  1. I’m concerned about MA, too. Not because of current data. But, in recent days especially, I am seeing so many out-of-state license plates, including Florida and Texas in my neighborhood. It’s their right to travel. And, it is summer, so one expects at least some tourists in Boston. But, I am concerned.

    1. I cannot believe how anyone anywhere supports this. It is horribly dangerous to hand this power to a man who is incapable of telling the truth.

  2. I heard on the tv news this morning that the MBTA is going back to “front door” boarding on buses and Green Line trains starting on Monday.

IMHO I believe it’s way too soon just from the perspective of the drivers/operators. I haven’t heard of any more employees with the virus in quite some time. Still, it would be a shame for cases to start up again.

Frankly I was hoping that rear door boarding would continue at least through fall. I believe Miami just recently started front door boarding just last week which should have taken place weeks if not months ago AFAIC.

Joshua what are your thoughts on this?

  3. Philip, I totally agree with you on the MBTA door issue. Let’s keep the drivers safe. That should be the priority.

      1. I meant to say that Miami just recently started “rear”door boarding, which keep operators safe.

  4. The numbers of new cases are now rising almost everywhere across the U.S. and at a steady clip, except New England. Regionally, we’re an anomaly. Good, for now. But, also concerning in regard to the future, given that travel is what brought the virus to us in the first place, and will do so the second time around. The virus doesn’t recognize state or town lines. On my run I saw 3 cars with California license plates, 1 from South Carolina, and 2 from Georgia. And that’s just the people driving here. Most are flying or taking buses and trains.

Across Europe I also see an upward trend in some countries, but only slight. And in many countries I don’t even see a slight upward trend. And, many of these countries test as many if not more people than we do. Plus, they’ve reopened more than we have, but done it safely, carefully, with protocols in place for physical distancing, strict hygiene regulations, capacity rules, no large gatherings whatsoever, no indoor in-person meetings in rooms with more than 6 people (our politicians violate this all the time, and it irritates me because there is NO need for these in-person meetings), contact tracing, and mask requirements.

Conservative columnist George Will sums it up in the article below. We’re a fading hegemon:

  5. On the new york times site we’ve quietly moved back into the cases on the rise states chart instead of the staying the same or decreasing charts. It’s no small wonder with tourism and allowing people to dine inside that the cases would increase.

    1. Vicki, do you mean “days”? With an “s”?

I wonder if the US is using old testing methods that are out of date? There was a photo in the newspaper just last week of a young girl getting tested by a nurse sticking a swab up her nose clearly grimacing in pain. I believe there are newer tests using one’s saliva. Not certain on that though.

  6. Below is a sobering Houston Chronicle piece. Note, Texas only includes confirmed Covid-19 cases as deaths, and not deaths that are probably caused by Covid-19 (as per a CT scan). Massachusetts and NY include probable deaths. They’re a relatively small percentage as the states try and confirm each death with a coronavirus test. Every state has a different way of tallying Covid-19 deaths. What’s notable is that states like NJ, Washington, MA, and others constantly comb over the data and adjust accordingly over time. Most revisions have resulted in a deletion of a small number of Covid-19 deaths. So, even though MA includes some “probable” Covid-19 deaths it’s very careful to make sure that there is clinical evidence suggesting Covid-19 was the cause. If upon further review officials find little clinical evidence they do not attribute Covid-19 as the cause.

      1. Now they just need to stay the course and also work on ways to limit the impacts of the travelers entering this region from the hot spots.

        1. Agree. Baker seems to think there is a constitutional infringement on forced quarantine. My gut tells me he has had his folks do a lot of research. Right or wrong….I sure can’t fault a nod to our rights.
