It looks like in the next few days, some states will be surpassing NY in case density, say, cases per million population. These are Louisiana, Arizona and Florida.
I would never have believed that this would happen. I guess I was naive about the depth of our failure.
Scary. CA already did.
As bad as I thought things were, SClarke, I also didn’t see this coming. You are not naive. It is simply beyond belief.
Sadly, unlike every other country, we are setting the wrong kind of records.
I have not seen data but think as joshua said it is cases and not deaths. Even then….just unbelievable.
Yes, CA has more cases than NY, but because of the greater population, about half as many cases per million people. The states that I mentioned are approaching NY in that measure of cases per million.
Indeed.
It’s a rather unbelievable thing that we’re witnessing. It looks like we’ll have 5 straight days of close to or over 1,000 deaths once the data come in from the last 5 reporting states. I didn’t think we’d have that this summer.
The good news is that even though we’re at peak hospitalizations the survival rate is greater than it was in April.
Massachusetts is still doing relatively well. It will be surpassed on the state ranking of numbers of cases by 4 states in the coming week or so. That will place Massachusetts in the 13th spot.
An interesting map. Accuracy? With trump taking charge and CDC caving, I don’t trust a whole lot any more
