Saw this sign in Norton this week. The Northern Trust is at the TPC~Boston this week. I so wanted to go this year. The Northern Trust is rotating between Norton and New Jersey from year-to-year. It won’t be back in Norton until 2022.

    1. Mac and son always went. Son caddied In pro am as he was a Ouimet scholar. He misses freddie couples by one person. All pros used Ouimet scholars except tiger who used his own.

  2. The MIAA (Massachusetts’s board for high school athletics) has or will approve a fourth “wedge” season for football, fall cheer and any other fall sport that cannot finish its season before November 20. Football and fall cheer can only practice this fall.
All other fall sports can play between September 14-November 20, however, some of the sports, such as soccer, will not look like what they used to. There are so many restrictions with youth and high school soccer.

So, apparently, there will not be Thanksgiving morning high school football this November.

Winter football anyone? I have seen some posts and tweets asking for long-range winter forecasts! 🙂

    1. If the upcoming winter is going to be like the last two previous winters then snow or deep cold certainly won’t be much of an issue, if any. Might as well go for it. 😉

    2. As close as we’re going to get for a long range winter forecast isn’t really going to be possible until around mid November, pretty much the same as every other year. 🙂

We’ve already seen how bad model guidance can be less than 24 hours out. With that kind of caution needed, any long range forecaster will be multiplying that by many when thinking ahead to a forecast that covers about 3 months or more. 🙂 … I have my initial “ideas” but they are very, very preliminary.

  3. All from six months to college age are required to get flu shots for school and day care. But it’s by 12/31. Another face plant moment. They ran out of 65 and older last year. I normally get them in October but worry about them running out

    1. I always get my flu shot every September at CVS. In fact, today when I went to pick up my prescription, the pharmacist asked me if I wanted to get a shot. I declined since I had other errands to run. I may speed things up a bit and get it tomorrow since I plan to go back to CVS for another purchase anyway.

If you fear a shortage, it might be best to get your shot ASAP while you’re thinking of it. It’s never too early.

  4. Philip, I do the same, that is, get my flu shot in September. I just like to get it done every year as soon as possible, even though October would be more ideal.

Vicki, you’re smart to normally get your flu shot in October, as that will protect you through the entire winter and early spring period. But, this year you might not want to wait that long.

Massachusetts reported 28 deaths today. Surprised by the number.

Overall, the plateau the nation is facing is formidable, in spite of it being better than a couple of weeks ago: 40-45k new cases and ~1,000 deaths. The latter is coming down, albeit slowly. I think we’ll average below 1,000/day by this weekend.

    1. In Europe, France and Spain continue to see relatively high numbers of new daily cases, about 2,700 7-day average in each country. Spain is notable in terms of deaths:127 were recorded today. France was much lower; 17.

Other countries appear to be past the peak of the `second wave’ with only small numbers of deaths.
