    1. Thanks Vicki. It will be interesting if history repeats itself regarding the election. Trump has A LOT of public support compared to Gerald Ford though. I have to keep remembering that there have been pandemics prior since 1918.

      1. More enthusiastic support, yes. But, I believe Gerald Ford had more support overall. Ford was a very decent human being. Obviously, he was thrust into a very difficult situation with Watergate. However, he did his best. On April 19, 1975, my father took me to the Old North Bridge in Concord MA where Ford spoke. There were lots of people there to commemorate the first battle of the American revolution. It was also the day America pulled out of Vietnam.

Trump’s base is loud and boisterous.

Today’s C-19 news is like a broken record. The Midwest surge continues. 5,600 cases in Illinois alone. It is the driving factor behind another nationwide rise in cases. Over 50k today. Deaths will be over 1,000 for the 4th straight day. I do think the 7-day average is a bit below 1,000. But still.

Vaccine news today isn’t as rosy. Predictable obstacles having to do with enrollment. Moderna, in particular, is having trouble enrolling enough people.

        1. Joshua – Do you know what happened to the Illinois numbers today? According to the following document, there were about 150,000 tests today. Going back to the beginning of testing records in March, the previous highest test count for a single day was about 57,000.

  1. SClarke, Illinois is doing a lot of testing. Still, its numbers have been high for weeks and are increasing. Today was especially high.

    Here’s what I could find:

“Earlier this week, a slowdown in data processing within Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) systems affected the reporting of tests due to the large volume of testing occurring in Illinois. All available resources were deployed to improve the data systems, which are now fixed, and the backlog created by the slowdown has been cleared. Two system upgrades were put in place and the systems now have significantly faster processing capacity. Although the slowdown did delay the reporting of some additional aggregate numbers, it did not affect the reporting of positive or negative results to individuals in any way.

IDPH today announced 5,368 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 29 additional confirmed deaths
