8:30AM
First, I would like to say thank you to all the Veterans who have served us and to all those that are currently serving, including my dad, a WW II Veteran!
Clouds behind our recently-passed cold front will be slow to depart today, but eventually intervals of sun are expected. Either way, expect a blustery and rather chilly day for Veterans Day 2011.
High pressure slips south to southeast of New England this weekend with seasonable temperatures Saturday, milder temperatures Sunday, and fair weather.
Expect another bout of Indian Summer Monday & Tuesday as high pressure remains anchored off the East Coast. A couple of weak fronts will try to move in during this time, bringing some clouds from time to time, but shower activity should be limited. By later Tuesday or Wednesday as one of these fronts pushes toward the East Coast and slows down, we’ll have to watch for an area of low pressure that could form on it and enhance the rainfall. It’s difficult to time this well in advance, so the extended outlook will be one of limited confidence.

Thanks TK for the update. As I said in the previous post thanks to all the people who are currently serving and have served our country and make the sacrifices so we could enjoy what we have.
A little windy today but November has treated us well so far considering it is the cloudiest month of the year.
Thank you TK and I’d also like to say a special thank you to those who have served, those servicing and to their families. It is thanks to them that we live in the greatest country on earth!
Thanks, TK – I also want to thank all those who served our country in the past and are now serving. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Thanks TK and Happy Veterans Day.
Thanks for the update TK! Happt veterans day to all.
Leaves are falling off the trees rapidly.
2 of my trees have lost 90% of their leaves in the past 3 days, most of them in the past 24 hours.
I was just driving down Rt 20 in Sudbury and that enormous flag at the BMW dealership (which I love to see waving in the wind) is at half staff. It just struck me as an incredible symbol of what all of our men and women have fought for. Rainshine I suspect you know the flag I am talking about
I have seen that flag before. I’m not out that way very often but have seen it.
TK there is something about that flag that just calls to me. Seeing it at half staff today gave me goosebumps and really gave me pause to think of all of those who have given so much for our country.
Yes, I see the flag everytime I head east on Rte. 20. First time I saw it, I couldn’t believe how huge it is!
On the off chance a few of you have not seen this yet, reposting here.

saw it – although I am not sure I blame them – some of the heat they’ve been taking is unfounded – IMHO
I just think it is up to the individual to be prepared since we all know it’s going to happen.
I do agree that some of the complaints were overboard. They amount of single broken lines was insane. They had to go pretty much house to house in some towns…
That said, them blaming the meteorologists is even more unfounded.
I heard that on the 10:00 news on Channel 38 (part of WBZ) last night. I couldn’t believe it. I never can understand how people can point fingers at things when the evidence is so clear that they are wrong. All I know is that we still have a long winter ahead of us . . . what happens when we get more big storms.
we’ll have a power outage party at my house
absolutely unfounded. I can’t remember ever seeing the consensus and the great reporting leading up to a storm
The wind picked up big time here a short while ago and the sky just opened up – it’s pouring
I watched that shower travel to my SW. Took a photo of the cloud from a distance. There is now another one traveling a similar path. I can see the rain shaft well west of me. This one looks a little smaller and weaker than the last. We did have a sprinkle here in Woburn about the time you had your downpour.
12z EURO is showing ridging in western Alaska, something to follow.
My trees have about 40-50% leaf coverage they r falling fast but this is still extremly late, every single yr I would do a final mowing and leaf pick up around Halloween except this yr, I’ll probably won’t do it this yr until the weekend of thanksgiving, providing they all fall in the next week
Most years since I can remember our final leaf pickup has been within 10 days of Thanksgiving. Still remember the night before Thanksgiving in 1986, me, my brother, and about 6 of my friends did the entire yard and it was a huge amount (big yard too).
Though I agree that this year was late by several days to 2 weeks (depending on the type of tree and the region), things are catching up fast now. Very few leaves left in most trees around here as of this evening.
My son in law helps my husband rake every year. He reminded me that last year we did the final raking on his birthday which is nov 18 because leaves fell so late. He said I was having a fit because framingham stopped collecting. Sounds like me:)
Blog updated! Have a great weekend everyone!
