Good morning, and thanks, TK!
It’s the 21st of September!

That is ok. I enjoyed and got a huge laugh
I thought I heard on the radio news this morning that the U.K. is under lockdown for a second time. Does that mean there is a second wave over there?
Appears so. It’s not a national lockdown yet. But, many parts are on lockdown. My early October trip to see my daughter is looking less and less likely. I could fly over, but risk being turned away and put on the next flight to Boston if London is in lockdown.
So sorry Joshua that you won’t be able to physically go to see your daughter. I hope you have been able to at least “see” her on Zoom these past few months. It is really sad that no nation (perhaps other than Canada?) has been able to get a solid handle on the virus. This especially includes the USA in which the political climate has been absolutely disgraceful imho.
You also mentioned awhile back that you are scheduled for jury duty this fall. I was watching “Ch. 5 Investigates” recently and it seems that jury trials in this state will probably not happen until there is a vaccine. Have you received any update from the Jury Commissioner on that? Just curious.
Darn Joshua. I am very sorry to hear this news.
Philip, you have an excellent memory! Indeed, I am scheduled for jury duty on November 3rd; day of the election. Haven’t heard from the Jury Commissioner’ office. But, I don’t think I’ll have to report for duty. I applied for a mail-in ballot in case I am called for jury duty. If I have no jury duty I’ll vote twice – once mail-in and once in person, just to tick some people off … Of course, I am just kidding.
India is the world’s largest epicenter at this point. It’s catching up to the U.S. in terms of positive cases, without as much test capacity. This means there are probably a lot more undetected infections. India and Brazil are gradually catching up to the U.S. in terms of total deaths. It’ll take another couple of months, but still.
Europe is definitely entering second wave territory. Tomorrow’s data will be crucial, as it won’t contain weekend gaps. Meanwhile, our summer spike appears to be slowing in intensity. Hospitalizations are coming down slowly, and deaths are diminishing. While we certainly don’t have the virus under control, we’re actually in better shape than we were last month, and it appears we’re in better shape than some of our European friends. I think we’ve learned the hard way that masks, distancing, and hygiene are crucial.
Sadly, every day at least one healthcare worker dies from Covid-19. The latest victim is from Kentucky. Only 62.
IATA travel association – you may recall the acronym from old-fashioned plane tickets – posted couples from around the world who are separated by Covid-19. It’s pretty devastating.
My son said the other day, “it feels like Mom is on Mars.” I totally agree with his sentiment. We’ve applied for a waiver from the State Department for his mother to be able to visit him and my daughter in the U.S. at Christmas. We’ll see if it happens.

You are surely doing all you can. I’ll keep this in my prayers and hope you can be together at Christmas.
I don’t know if it will help, but can you write to and call Baker
Sadly, the folks I knew at state level have all passed.
