We live in strange times where I question the legitimacy of a sitting president actually having a potentially deadly disease and find it more plausible that it’s a re-election tactic. You get to skip one of the debates, not have to hit the campaign trail for at least two weeks, get to say “Yeah, I had it. It wasn’t so bad. It’s not as scary as the left make it to be. If I wasn’t tested everyday I wouldn’t have even known I had it and could have kept on working.” Etc etc.
Oh boy. My mind hasn’t gone there yet but you have an excellent point.

Dr. Jill Biden is scheduled to visit NH today, a very key state. From what I’ve heard, that visit is now “up in the air” even though she did wear a mask at her husband’s debate. Hopefully former VP Joe Biden and debate moderator Chris Wallace don’t test positive!
From what I understand, both candidates and moderator were EXACTLY 6 feet apart. Even that “standard” distance is supposed to keep everyone safe, at times that still may not be enough distance. Not quite sure about that.
Not really. The real distance is 26 feet but it is not mentioned very often.
I could go on and on about this, but not on this page and frankly, probably not worth my time. This president is a miserable failure. That sums it up.

If POTUS doesn’t participate in the debates, it could very well backfire on him, if indeed that is his plan all along.
This would be a good opportunity for Biden to participate in a Town Hall Meeting and talk to real voters so he can outline his plan on their various issues/concerns for the next four years. Biden could really use the positive exposure. I would certainly watch something like that.
No screaming, shouting insults back-and-forth, etc. Just “real” conversations with folk.

I don’t think it’s staged. It’s real. Hope Hicks is sick, and has been for 3 days. The President has shown signs for 2 days of “tiredness,” according to aides. This is very unusual for Trump. He is a man of high energy. Also, remember him sweating at the debate. Rare for DJT.
I should add I don’t think this is a good thing for Trump’s re-election chances. The last thing he wants to talk about is coronavirus. He also needs the rallies to infuse energy into his campaign. Furthermore, the White House breached protocol … again, for the 1000th time, and I believe this will be a major news story going forward as it reminds us all of how he has NEVER taken this seriously. Trump went ahead with a rally, a fundraiser, and coming into contact with hundreds of people, despite knowing Hicks had tested positive AND was symptomatic.
The jobs report this morning is dismal, too, with many people now just exiting the jobs market entirely. And, the report doesn’t included >100,000 airlines jobs that have been eliminated. That will show up in the October report. All very bad news for Mr. Trump.
At this point, I’d be very worried if I were a GOP strategist. This could turn out to be a rout in the Senate, with as many as 8 seats flipping, the presidency, state houses across the nation, etc … GOP must get back to its fundamental roots. Trumpianism is NOT a winning formula long-term.

There is no excuse for any negative tweets. I have not seen any but I have deliberately tried not to look. That would be disgusting. It only brings that person down to the level of the president. No matter what he has done, he is a human being. I could never wish anyone ill. Just want to add the caveat of my above comment which was that we live in strange times where I would even question the president on something like this. I’ve no doubt the story is true but the fact I doubted it first is indicative of how I feel they’ve treated the virus.

I wish this virus on no one, with that said the way that donald is acting and how he has treated this virus it was bound to happen. This can also be used as a political tool by Trump and his campaign in many different ways all negative to the democrats along with what has been mentioned above. which is why you are seeing democrats in droves hoping for a speedy recovery for trump which he would not offer himself being the person he is.

Trump walked – lumbered – to Marine 1, so he’s not deathly ill. This said, he could have easily been treated with the medications he’s on and had his oxygen checked at the White House. Something tells me that his doctors there were concerned about his oxygen saturation level, continued fever (he’s had one for several days apparently) and severe fatigue (very unusual for Trump, who is a very vital person). I think he’ll recover, as most people do. But, he does have a number of co-morbidities, including age, weight, and cholesterol level, that would worry me a bit.
Covid will define Trump’s presidency and also may end it. That’s what I believe at this time. While he’ll survive in all likelihood this episode will make it that much harder for him to get re-elected.
