And it explains bakers comment yesterday that kids don’t spread covid. He has repeatedly said we would take steps back if cases grew. Yet he just pressured schools that were remote into opening hybrid. Dandy timing but who didn’t see the rise coming. I have lost some confidence in him.
Too many mixed messages between elected officials and the medical community (including Dr. Fauci).
I sure agree. And by now there is little excuse.
UMass Amherst going remote for the rest of the 2020-21 academic year.
I do understand colleges since kids and staff are from all over. I absolutely believe the best for k-12 is to be in school. But I don’t see how it will work in the best interest of education and especially for the health of staff and families and kids. Even the best of schools are having to shut down for a few days here and there. Kids pop from in school to remote either in part or fully if the school closes to clean. I don’t see any way that either option can be perfected. Glitches with remote now should have Been anticipated during the summer but the schools had no idea where the focus should be
Even with full in school ….which can only be four days with Wednesday to clean….there absolutely has to be an option for full remote. Many kids, teachers and families are high risk.
And as expected extremely high again .
Disconcertingly high. Agree.
Data aren’t pretty. Our 3rd peak is going into overdrive, just like Europe at this point in time, except Europe is doing something about it. We aren’t, for the most part. I think you’ll start seeing significant dips in Europe within 2 or 3 weeks, as partial to full lockdowns have been implemented. Meanwhile, many of our states are waiting for a miracle. I’m not talking about the Northeast, by the way, or the west coast. But, I am talking about almost every other state.
Here’s the national data on case, hospitalizations, and deaths:
And here’s something that will blow you away. See link below. Among rural states Vermont has done incredibly well (no Covid-19 deaths in 2 months!), especially considering its proximity to several hot spot states. It’s less rural than a number of states (Dakotas) that are absolutely reeling, with high numbers of hospitalizations and deaths. Scott is the Republican governor of Vermont. I respect him. I have no respect for the idiots who run the Dakotas. They pretend to be pro-life when in reality they don’t give a damn about life.
OMG. Joshua this is remarkable. Thank you. I will share, especially with Macs cousin whose ski cabin in in Stowe
I shared on my FB page also. What the heck is wrong with us
MGH has declared we are at the start of the second surge officially as of today. Along with a whole floor of MGH now being tested tomorrow for possible exposure to 6 patients and 4 workers. People being tested several doctors, nurses, transporters etc that all have been at that floor.
Matt …is your dad on that floor? Praying he is not and also praying for all who are
Sadly this was easy to see coming. This is exactly what happened at the start of this year. I’ve been saying it here and elsewhere for weeks. I’m far from alone and far from having a crystal ball.
Hey Matt just curious how you got that information regarding MGH . Thank you Matt as I’m just curious being in that environment myself
I’m still struggling with second and third wave …not that it really maters but it still seems to me this is our second peak
I’ve never heard a third wave Vicki but I believe it .
According to the latest Harris Poll:
60% of respondents would take a Covid-19 vaccine compared to 70% back in August.
Hmmm. It would seem consumer confidence in the medical community has dropped off the past two months. The fewer people that get the vaccine, the longer the corona virus stays with us, I would assume.
I would hope that by 2022 we as a nation, and a planet can go back to a pre-pandemic lifestyle of actually breathing on each other again in public places.
I would not. I’ll wait to see what the effects are. But then look at why there is lack of confidence. The president has undermined the respect that out health agencies once commanded. Not one person can question that
I would not
Agree
I put that Blame on not wanting to get one right away squarely on Trump as he has ruined everything & I think people are seeing that .
That is a truth that no one can disagree with, SSK. I tend to hesitate with first vaccines. However, knowing the president is forcing nonscience on our healthcare group purely for political reasons, has made my decision easy. I will wait.
No surprise but I’m going with Joshua. I may not understand the dynamics but I do not question his expertise. NYT and others are all saying third
Very high numbers yesterday I’m really curious to see how they come up today . All mass skating facilities shut down for two weeks .
Come out today
Unfortunately, you probably said it correctly the first time.
Lol , indeed Philip
