DAYS 1-5 (NOVEMBER 8-12)
Discussion…
A quick update today so you can get out and enjoy the great November weather! High pressure continues its dominance for a few more days with a warm & dry pattern, although today’s temperatures will be down a little bit over yesterday’s especially near the coast, due to a developing sea breeze. True sea breezes are more common in spring than autumn, but they will occur in autumn when the land is sufficiently heated and the water temperature is cool in comparison – exactly what we will see today. We’re still looking at a cold front to move into and through the region Wednesday with rain showers arriving, then the front will settle just to the south Thursday holding clouds in after wet weather departs and it turns cooler. As a reminder, Boston’s record high temps for the next 4 days, starting today, are 74, 74, 78, and 69. Monday’s and Wednesday’s will be challenged.
Details…
TODAY: Sunny. Highs 65-70 coast, 70-75 inland. Wind variable up to 10 MPH with coastal sea breezes.
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 48-55. Wind variable to SW up to 10 MPH.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 68-75. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 48-55. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 68-75. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Clouding up. Lows 52-59. Wind S 5-15 MPH.
WEDNESDAY (VETERANS DAY): Mostly cloudy. Rain showers likely. Humid. Highs 65-72. Wind S 10-20 MPH.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Rain showers likely. Lows 50-57. Wind S to variable 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY: Cloudy. Chance of rain early. Temperatures steady 50-57. Wind N 5-15 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (NOVEMBER 13-17)
High pressure is expected to push far enough south to bring fair but seasonably cool weather back for November 13 into November 14 before a wave of low pressure brings a chance of wet weather for November 15. Confidence drops off very quickly later in this forecast period as guidance is very divergent and inconsistent. Right now thinking dry/breezy/cool November 16, warming up with rain showers November 17, but this may change.
DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 18-22)
Confidence is far too low for a day-to-day outlook but overall pattern looks dry and seasonable to slightly milder than normal.
Thanks TK.
Thanks TK!
Will remnants of Eta figure into our forecast at some point?
I can see it playing out in 2 parts: 1) A tiny influx of moisture ahead of Wednesday’s cold front with most of that ending up south of here. 2) Some additional moisture gets involved with low pressure that threatens the area in about one week (lower confidence on that part though, so please don’t take that as a definite).
Good morning and thank you TK.
Man we just had an earthquake I think in Brewster
Yeah what happened the house shook here in pembroke & surrounding towns at 9:11 am definitely tremor or something
Oh is that what I felt. My office chair shook a bit and I couldn’t figure out
what it was. Cool.
Oh good I’m glad I’m not the only cook . Thanks for verifying too. It shook really good for about maybe 20 seconds
Yes I’m hearing Ct, Ri & Ma all felt it .
Your welcome
I did not feel anything where I am in CT.
Oh really JJ one of my friends from there ( here now ) got reports it was I suspect now that you say that it was only parts . I’ll ask my sister who lives there as well . Facebook is lighting up a lot of folks felt it .

Bliss Corner is a neighborhood of Dartmouth, I believe.
I felt nothing here at work that I could tell. Is it mostly SE MA/Cape?
I felt it here in JP
SSK I think the people in CT who felt the earthquake were in the eastern part of the state.
Probably JJ you would know .
Any damage reports?
What’s next in 2020
My friends from that area are texting me that it was like an explosion than a rolling. That’s what my wife heard. We have a quarry near us and occasionally they set off explosives in the pits. That’s what Mrs. Fantastic thought she heard.
The epicenter was probably around Cove Rd. in North Dartmouth which is not far away from the South End of New Bedford.
A little vibration on the grocery store floor at 9:10 a.m. up here in Woburn which is close to the northern limit of where it was felt.
I have the scanner on from New Bedford. A few people are calling 911 for the smell of gas their neighborhoods.
Thank you, TK.
NWS Tsunami alert system issued the following:
https://twitter.com/NWS_NTWC/status/1325442722447024133
I thought a tsunami was of “Pacific” origin only. Obviously I have been quite wrong all these years. Scary.
Why would a tsunami be exclusive to one ocean? They can occur anywhere there is ocean. The Indian Ocean has seen some of the worst.
Additionally while that word is scary sounding in itself, a tsunami can be literally 1 inch high. A tsunami generated by the earthquake such as the one on the south coast today would be virtually unnoticeable.
Many posts about this from people in New London county in SE CT. I didn’t feel anything here but then again I was still laying in bed 🙂 I did hear a clatter in the attic around that time but thought it was a mouse running around. Now I am wondering if it was related to the quake and something fell over.

many of you will remember the tragedy of the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami that had a death toll of nearly 1/4 million people.
Thanks TK! A lot of info to swallow. This is why that almost every day there is something new to learn here on this blog. 🙂
We live in a busy world…
St. Julie Parish in Dartmouth was live streaming its service this morning at 9 am.
If you fast forward the video to 7:57, you will see the camera shaking and hear the boom of the earthquake.

Pretty amazing. Thank you for this.
Yes, Thanks. I credit the scripture reader for continuing on and not missing a beat like nothing happened. It would seem that the congregates didn’t notice much either, if anything.
Ironically, the gospel in the Roman Catholic Church this weekend is the Second Coming…”Therefore, stay awake,
for you know neither the day nor the hour.” 🙂
USGS has updated the magnitude of the earthquake to 3.6 .. often times preliminary magnitudes run a little too high. Looks like this was the case here as well. But even a 3.6 is nothing to sneeze at.

TMZ and the Jeopardy twitters are reporting that Alex Trebek has passed.
I’m in tears, Captain. I came here to post the same knowing how many here love Jeopardy. He fought an amazing battle and did so with grace and courage. May he Rest In Peace and carry on his show in heaven for all of our angels there.
Oh no!! 🙁
Well, he fought the good fight for sure. He had been through a lot the past few years, health wise.
Very sad to hear the news of Alex Trebek passing away. May he rest in peace.
It will now be interesting if Jeopardy continues with a new host or end its 37-year run indefinitely. Very sad either way.
I don’t think Jeopardy will end its run. Jeopardy will take a while to get used to with a new host just like it was when Drew Carey took over for Bob Barker on The Price Is Right.
I know we all knew that terrible disease would take A.T. sometime, but it doesn’t make it easier to take. Rest in peace Alex. I lost my cousin (he was in his 50s) to pancreatic cancer. I know I’ve mentioned that here in the past. What a terrible disease. It took my cousin in just three months’ time. Alex put up an amazing fight and it was inspirational to see, but so very sad that he had to fight that at all.
Cancer has been on this planet, in one form or another, literally for centuries and there is still no universal cure. It’s not like doctors haven’t been trying to find one though. Very puzzling and frustrating to say the least.
And we still don’t know for certain what exactly causes cancer as it effects seemingly “healthy” people. The word “obesity” for example, never described Alex Trebek as long as I can remember watching him over the years.
A special “20/20” tribute to Alex Trebek tonight at 10:00 pm on ABC-TV Ch. 5.
New weather post…
