Israel has vaccinated 21% of its population, with a prioritization scheduled focused on the 60 plus population.
The U.S. report card on vaccinations is NOT as hopeless as the media says. Some states have done very well. And overall we’re not doing terribly. But, we could be doing much better, given that we had a 2 week advantage over almost every other nation. The vaccines were approved here before most other countries, except Britain.
Keep an eye on hospitalizations this week. The growth in hospitalizations and ICU usage appears to have stalled, which is good. By Wednesday we should know if this is an aberration or a trend. If it’s a trend it would be an indicator of vaccinations beginning to turn the tide.
Hopefully that is a trend and we have peaked Joshua. What percentage vaccinated so far for the U.S.?
Cases down again I’m really surprised as the Xmas numbers just started to come out was it not as bad as we thought with folks not following holiday suggestions to stay home .
I’m hoping you can read this. I’ve been told that because it’s breaking news and related to coronavirus that it should be free content. In any case, I don’t control the paywall.
I could open and it is chilling. They should be tested and if one has covid held responsible. Disgusting. Of course I think many from the 6th should be held responsible anyway.
Sorry, blocked by the paywall. 🙁
Hospitalizations are coming down ever so slightly nationwide. Still, we need to be cautious. Let’s wait until Wednesday’s numbers to see if there is a downward trend. This also applies to Massachusetts numbers.
Philip, we’ve vaccinated – 1st dose – about 7 million people. Far cry from the 20 million promised by the end of December (!) by Azar (HHS). We are trending in the right direction. Maybe we’ll be at or above 20 million by the end of this month.
Great piece Joshua. Pretty sad with the refusal to wear a mask by some . I also agree this horrific event will probably turn into a super spreader.
C-19 for 1-12 is ready.

My latest is on Congresswoman Coleman, 75, who’s now headed to the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19. She believes she got infected during the siege at the Capitol while sheltering with unmasked colleagues. Of note, she had gotten her first dose of Covid-19 vaccine prior to testing positive. https://www.forbes.com/sites/joshuacohen/2021/01/11/new-jersey-congresswoman-contracts-covid-19-after-sheltering-in-place-during-capitol-siege/
