Philip, the vaccines are `free’ but some entity (in this case, the federal government) is of course paying for them. I don’t know the details of the contracts that the federal government has negotiated with the makers of the vaccines, or the insurer contracts. But, I do know that any time a service is delivered, even if it is `free’ (for the person getting the service) claims adjudication must take place. My guess is insurers are getting reimbursed for the costs from the federal government.
Thanks Joshua. Just more red tape. I have insurance but what about someone who doesn’t? The homeless certainly don’t, for example.
I believe the uninsured are covered by the federal government. So, whoever submits the claim – clinic, pharmacy, doctor – can get reimbursed by the government for vaccinating an uninsured person.
The worst worldwide pandemic in the history of this planet, and it’s still all about the almighty $$$$…etc.
