My mother got her second Moderna shot on Saturday and had very minor arm soreness and on Sunday just felt a little tired (which is kind of normal for her anyway) and had a chill (which is also kind of normal for her anyway haha) but I think what we were seeing were “minor” vaccine effects. As of yesterday, she was fine. 🙂
That’s good news. Hope your mother continues in good health. 🙂
It will be interesting if these vaccinations will be an annual ritual for us from now on along with the common flu shot. Or once in a lifetime like shingles for example.
Awesome news. Some chills have been quite severe with fever. I’m awfully happy your moms reaction was not severe.
TK, happy to know your mother is now fully vaccinated.
That’s great news, TK!
Great news Tk . My wife will have here second shot on 4/1 Good Friday .
Awesome news. April fools day. Mine is 4/1 but it is a Thursday. Will hers be on 4/2? I apologize but cannot recall if she had pfeizer or moderna?
Good news, both Vicki and SSK’s wife.
Brazil sets a new death record for 1 day, with over 3,300.
India’s increase in cases is concerning; nearing 50k per day, with very little testing. Still, hospitalizations and deaths have not increased by much, so far.
The continent of Europe continues to struggle, with rising cases and hospitalizations (as well as ICU usage). The good news is that deaths are remaining relatively steady. This reflects the age of those being admitted to hospital and ICU. Average ICU patient in Belgium is 48; Vienna, Austria 52; Greater Paris, France 55. These patients remain in ICU longer than patients did during the 1st wave last year, but they have a greater likelihood of surviving because of their age. Why so many younger folks in ICU? Two reasons: 1. The older age group is mostly vaccinated, even in Europe; 2. B117’s impact on younger folks is greater than the original so-called “wild type” coronavirus variants.
In the U.S. cases are rising nationwide, hospitalizations are no longer decreasing, but deaths are declining. In fact, I’m heartened to see the death numbers this week so far. I do think today the number will go over 1,000. But, we’ve just had 3 straight days of less than 1,000 deaths.
Wall Street Journal video on P.1 variant in Brazil. See below. P.1 impacts an even younger group than B117, and much younger than the previous “wild type” variants. By the way, vaccines are relatively efficacious against P.1, but in limited clinical trials and efficacy is less than for B117 and the original variants. https://twitter.com/WSJ/status/1374496181410226176
Do people who have had Covid have an immunity to the variants ?
Joshua, what are your thoughts regarding the AZ vaccine? If I understand correctly, the data isn’t as trustworthy as advertised. And technically, that vaccine brand still hasn’t been officially approved by the FDA.
