DAYS 1-5 (MARCH 27-31)
The home stretch of March 2021 starts with a nice day as high pressure enters the region today. While the center of the high is still to our west we’ll have a gusty breeze this morning, which will settle down as the high moves overhead during the day. Today is definitely the pick of the weekend though for outdoor activity, as advancing low pressure will bring cloudiness back in tonight which thickens up quickly Sunday morning and is followed by rain, which we need to knock down fire danger and chip away from what had been a rebuilding precipitation deficit. Sunday’s rainmaker will exit by early Monday and behind it will be a shot of windy and colder weather. High pressure heads into the region from the west by Tuesday – a nice day, and then gives way to an approaching frontal system from the west Wednesday which will be milder, and may turn showery by day’s end…
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 54-61. Wind NW 10-20 MPH morning, diminishing afternoon..
TONIGHT: Increasing clouds. Lows 36-43 evening, may rise slowly overnight. Wind variable up to 10 MPH becoming SE.
SUNDAY: Cloudy. Patchy fog/drizzle morning. Rain arriving west to east by midday continuing thereafter. Highs 46-53. Wind SE to E 5-15 MPH, higher gusts possible.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Cloudy evening with area of fog/drizzle and a passing shower or possible thunderstorm. Breaking clouds overnight. Lows 36-43. Wind shifting to N and increasing to 10-20 MPH with higher gusts.
MONDAY: Sun/cloud mix. Highs 42-49. Wind NW 15-25 MPH, gusts 30-45 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 28-35. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY: Sunny. Highs 55-62. Wind S up to 10 MPH.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 38-45. Wind S up to 10 MPH.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Late-day or nighttime rain showers possible. Highs 58-65. Wind SW 10-20 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (APRIL 1-5)
Cold front moves through April 1 with at least a round of rain showers – will watch for an area of low pressure that may form on the front and give a period of rain and even mix/snow depending on timing of precipitation vs. arrival of cold air. Blocking pattern evolving means we will have to look for our weather not necessarily coming from the west during the days following this, and colder air from Canada may win out. We should have a couple or a few dry days but it may eventually turn unsettled before this period is over.
DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 6-10)
Larger scale blocking pattern may keep it on the cooler side of normal but with limited unsettled weather as we may end up in a drier part of the block.
Thanks TK.
EF1 tornado confirmed in Middlebury VT yesterday with 110 mph winds and a 1 mile path. Only the second March tornado in the states history.

First comment of the day 🙂 happy Saturday
Aw man, I guess it wasn’t. Mark must have posted while I was laboriously entering my email address on my phone keyboard. Amended to “first comment from PDT”.
Well I don’t think I have any other followers in the Pacific time zone, so you own that one. 😉
Good morning and thank you TK.
Tuukka’s snow pile disappeared from my brother’s driveway at 9 p.m. Friday night (March 26). This makes Tom & SSK the winners, both having guessed the correct date. 🙂
This is the second year in a row that pile has disappeared in March (earlier last year but not sure of exact date) after a long stretch of runs into April.
Thanks TK for this news and today’s blog.
A light wind on deck. It’s low 50s but with fire bowl on not bad at all.
Today is going to be my outside day. I’ve been battling some kind of tendinitis in my right foot all week (I believe I strained it in the basement cleaning project last week but never realized it then). But it’s 99% better today so my plan is to go out and do a preliminary yard cleanup. Had a tree taken down this week that was in the process of taking itself down – and the pieces were getting larger and larger so it was time. Now it’s time to pick up the loose stuff and give a quick “wake-up” raking to the lawn. Also heading down for the 2nd of 5 football games (fall sports it springtime) to take some photos. Woburn lost to Melrose last week and hosts Reading today.
Sorry to hear that. I’ve been warring with gout in my right foot all week. Fun…isn’t it? I’m being outside today also. It’s a wonderful Saturday.
Darn! I just missed it by 2 days. Oh well. Maybe next year. 🙂
Thanks TK!
🙂 🙂
Thanks TK.
Thanks TK. Enjoy the outdoors today!
Thursday (no foolin’) I am scheduled to get my Covid vaccine. I hope it will be the J & J vaccine but I have no control or say over that. We will see. If not, I guess I will be back again in 21 days or so.
Hopefully NO repeat of 4/1/1997! Although it “could” snow some, correct? Cold air vs. precip?
Not the same set-up. If it were to realize the snow potential, it would just be a wave riding up the front after the cold air was in. Something we’ve seen many times in the spring here.
I get my second Thursday. Usually the facility posts what vaccine they are using. Maybe some have stopped doing that???
According to the FAQ, I won’t know until I arrive on my scheduled day.
I am 8 days out since receiving my 2nd. Daughter is 7 days out from first and son is 6 days out from 1st. Both got sick for the 1st dose.
From my 2nd dose, I had a bad headache, and fatigue like I have never felt before. I barely had the strength to walk, but it passed. I even had a nose bleed! Damn, those things are powerful.
We’re working on getting the Mrs. Vaccinated. That will be rough, but we are leaning towards the one dose J&J for her, perhaps administered right in the house. In Boston, we can get that done. I can also get her done at my office where one of our RNs will personally sit with her and monitor her.
Oh, I hope and pray that works out well for her.
I have heard that hydrating well 48 hours before and after the shot can mitigate some of the after-effects. It certainly can’t do any harm!
agree. thanks
Jean I heard hydrating also. Mine 2nd is Thursday and I may float away by then. But I have a gout flare so need to hydrate foe that. Keeps me honest
I sure hope Mrs OS can have her vaccine. Fingers crossed and positive thoughts being sent your way
My wife and I get our 1st dose tomorrow. The site said Pfizer. Hoping for no side effects but some have had them with either dose and some none at all, so we shall see.
Good luck.
Thanks. Good luck with Mrs. OS.
Thank you. We’re working on it.
I heard today there are 40,000 more than expected coming next week of the J and J vaccine and the Governor is having 25,000 reserved to be given to homebound residents.
I heard baker day that also. Makes sense to use JJ as it is one does. So glad you and Ivy are getting your first
Good luck my 16 year old son getting his first on Wednesday.
Thanks, TK. Enjoy the outdoors!
How the BLEEP does Logan airport have an East wind
at 14 mph??????????????????????????????????????????????????
54 there. 62 here in JP.
That would be a sea breeze due to the light gradient.
No, really? There was such a rip roaring NW here this morning, I didn’t think the gradient would ever get light enough. Oh well, that’s the fakata airport for ya!
I forecast the transition from the gusty NW wind to the lighter wind ..but I did not forecast the sea breeze very well.
More info on Middlebury VT EF 1 tornado from Meteorologist Ben Frechette. The tornado just missed hitting the downtown area.

Thanks, Mark and JJ, for sharing these tweets. I’ve been sending them on to my daughter who used to live there…
East wind has made it to JP. Down to 60 after being up to 64.
61 here in JP.
67 with a breeze in south Sutton
Thanks TK !
Sitting outside around 6ish, there was a definite smell of spring rain in the air. It came and went several times. Oddest thing as normally rain would be close by
New weather post!
