DAYS 1-5 (MARCH 29 -APRIL 2)
Winter’s reminder starts off the new week as we experience strong wind gusts behind departing low pressure, and a chunk of cold air crossing the region. High pressure nudges eastward by Tuesday and helps slacken the wind while moderating the air, so Tuesday will have a bit more feel of spring to it. This high pressure area then crosses the region and positions itself offshore while a frontal boundary approaches from the west Wednesday – a milder but windier day which turns cloudy, and eventually wet as a ribbon of rain moves in from the west, probably late-day or night. As we flip the calendar from March to April, the first question to answer will be timing of rain’s end on Thursday as we’ll probably see a wave of low pressure moving up along a cold front as it passes offshore. I don’t think the timing and arrival of cold air will be such that we flip to snow here before it ends, but that does still remain at least a remote possibility, so we’ll have to watch for that. The Red Sox home opener is scheduled for Thursday, which even if it can be played due to drying weather it will be played with a gusty wind and chilly temperatures – not highly unusual for baseball in early April. High pressure builds into the region from the west by Friday which will be a bright, breezy, and chilly day as another shot of Canadian cold air is delivered, whether you ordered it or not. π

DAYS 6-10 (APRIL 3-7)
Large scale blocking pattern. The overall setup is one that should keep us on the drier side with no major storminess having direct impact on our region. Temperatures are tricky, leaning toward an April 3-4 weekend warm-up and a cool-down the first part of the following week.
DAYS 11-15 (APRIL 8-12)
Larger scale blocking pattern may keep it on the cooler side of normal but with limited unsettled weather as we may remain in a drier part of the block.

Thanks TK !
Thanks TK!
Interesting that Thursday βApril Fools Dayβ is probably our last opportunity for snow for this particular season (such as it is).
25.4β = 4/1/1997 (Boston)
33.0β = 4/1/1997 (Worcester)
Seasonal snowfall to date = 38.5β
Not necessarily. The pattern heading into month, and climatology, say otherwise.

Good morning and thank you TK.

Thanks TK.
Thank you, TK.
Granddaughter and I just went out on deck to get a closer look at the bunnies on the hill. I had to hold onto her so she wouldnβt blow away π
I saw my first bunny of the season just the other morning on my way into work. π
Do bunnies hibernate during winter? The last one I saw was last early November.
Actually I take that back. My first bunny was earlier this month. π
So, I guess that actually makes 2 bunnies so far. π
No, they do not. I see them all of the time in the Winter and if I don’t see them, I see the bunny tracks all over the place.
We saw a big fat rabbit a couple of days ago.
That is in the snow, assuming there is snow on the ground. π
Thanks JPD. Iβll make note of that. π
btw, call me crazy, but I love rabbits and I love to see them running around outside. We have many of them in the neighborhood, so many that the neighbors hate them because they eat their flowers. They can be a nuisance, for sure. But, they only eat our grass and they are welcome to as much as they would like.
Sometimes I can get pretty close to them outside because they are used to seeing us.
We also love rabbits. I donβt see as many here as framingham but think the fox and coywolf may have something to do with that. Our neighborhood outdoor cat got a baby rabbit last year. Kids were very sad
We see their tracks in snow in winter but never seem to see them
Hoping these wind events simmer down as we get leaves on the trees, will be a different result once that happens on days like this.
The buds sure did pop out in the past week. Daughters forsythia are showing a tinge or yellow. They are pretty far behind last year though
Crocuses in my backyard are flourishing nicely compared to last year which was…meh! Barely much of any flowers overall last spring. I think this year will be considerably better. Fingers crossed.
Very interesting. Our crocuses are all up and about past. Daffodils are ready to bud and tulip leaves are up. We are about a month behind last year, but last year was equally nice.
Some of Sutton is out, including a street that is less than a mile from here. My friend in York, ME, just lost power. I have all devices plugged in. One chair just flew off of the deck onto patio.
Thank you, TK.
Nice gusty breeze today. Running into it wasn’t fun. But on the way back I got `pushed’ home. Felt like Mary Poppins at one point, as if I could jump up in the air and sail over to 17 Cherry Tree Lane.
Hahaha. Love the visual. Thanks
Thanks, TK…
March 29 in 2010…Heavy rains led to historic flooding in SNE.
When all was said and done, 16.83″ fell in the month.
March 29 in 1970 (Easter Sunday that year), a 6″ snowfall blanketed the area.
March 28/29, 1984, we had major snow. All you could hear was true limbs breaking and power lines arcing.
Seems to be another of those banner dates

I recall the 1970 snow. My family had Easter dinner at a Cambridge restaurant some from metro west Boston recall…Fantasia. It was flurrying when we went in…and had accumulated a surprising amount when we came out
Vicki that description reminds me of the October 2011 Nor’easter.
JJ. I have always said the same. It was truly identical. The Halloween storm brought back memories of it
It is amazing how spring (and fall) snows occur with very little notice days in advance. I canβt recall any forcasted even 3-4 days out. And very rarely preceded by any sustained cold. Usually the cold air and moisture arrive at the same time.
If is 33. Can we get down to 20 or even partway there and kill those mosquitoes. Please
Not sure if anyone has watched the Perfect planet on discovery+ but I have these past several days, I binge watched the 5 episodes. Very well done and I highly suggest people watch it. Its by Sir David Attenborough. https://www.discoveryplus.com/show/a-perfect-planet. Volcano’s (tectonics), The sun, Weather, Oceans, Humans.
