  1. Besides Brookline, Salem also continues its mask order. I can sort of understand Salem given they attract many visitors regarding the “Witch Trials”. Isn’t Salem known as “The Witch City”?

But I am still puzzled about Brookline.

    Joshua, any thoughts on that?

  2. I love Salem…both it’s rich maritime history (which is even more so than Boston) along with its dark history.

  3. I’m sorry about not responding to your questions yesterday.

On mix and match, I just don’t know. I’m glad I don’t have to experiment with it myself, as my 2nd Pfizer shot is coming up this week.

On Brookline and other towns’ outdoor mask mandates, ultimately these are local decisions. Brookline is a town that has done well throughout the pandemic, despite its proximity to a number of towns that haven’t fared as well. So perhaps this explains their reluctance to drop certain restrictions.

The U.S. Covid-19 epidemic is exhibiting a rolling rally of sorts, with spikes occurring in different regions every week.

    1. My concern is with variants as well. IMO the WH should have stopped all travel from India immediately instead of waiting until Tuesday. By that time, many travelers will be on the way back to the U.S. possibly already spreading yet another variant.

International travel got us into this pandemic AFAIC. The real “super spreader” from the beginning.

  4. Joshua, will booster shots get us over the hump towards herd immunity once and for all?

    1. I certainly hope so. I think it will at least get us to a point where the risks we take in every day interaction are minimal because the virus is sufficiently suppressed. We’re not at that point yet, but we’re getting closer to it.

Globally it will take longer. The massive outbreaks in South America and Asia point to this. Even Europe’s latest wave is still heavily impacting a number of countries, such as France, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
