According to the CDC, there have been 13 new cases of blood clots following the pause of the J&J vaccine. This brings the total to 28 since the vaccine was distributed. Of the 28 cases, 3 people have died, 4 are still in the hospital, 2 are in post-acute care facilities and the rest have returned home. Of the 28 cases, 22 women and 6 men.
According to Dr. Tom Shimabukuro of the CDC, the symptoms of thrombosis (blood clotting) are severe headache, abdominal pain, shortness of breath and leg pain.
Looks like the full reopening in Mass will be accelerated—possibly this month…
Philip, regarding the deaths it’s all about when the deaths are reported. Usually the low death days are Sunday and Monday. For some reason this week it was on Tuesday. The good news is the trend is downward, as are cases and hospitalizations.
