  1. On the morning news, I believe I heard that Boston Mayor Janey will be imposing an indoor mask mandate on August 27.

I just hope officials don’t try and take our “outdoor” air again as well like in 2020.

  2. Here is my concern. Doctors and Scientists are scared out of their minds about what might happen because officials are
totally mismanaging this crisis. We are in trouble. Call me chicken little if you must. We shall see.

    1. Top that off with mixed messages or no messages from health folks, and we do have a mess.

Has any health person mentioned Israel’s new lower number on pfeizer protection for serious illness?

  3. I’ve noticed a big uptick in people wearing masks (and even some distancing) indoors. Two weeks ago, the pharmacy was mostly maskless. Two days ago, the pharmacy was mostly masked. Even some mask-wearing on the street. All of this was prior to Mayor Janey’s announcement.

    1. Interesting. Most customers and workers at the Stop & Shops never really gave up wearing their masks anyway even though no one ever stopped any customer who wasn’t wearing one. I always went with the majority and put mine on when entering.

      1. And as for mask wearing, still the vast majority walking the street is maskless including myself, and it had better stay that way. I absolutely refuse to go back to 2020 in that regard unless there’s a huge crowd gathering perhaps. 🙂

  4. Concerning tornado risk for tomorrow, depending on the final track, but assuming it is West of the Boston area, would that not allow for possible discrete convective cells on the East side thus
possibly increasing the chances of some tornadoes. And if we get sunny breaks in between, boosts the chances even more?

Something to watch tomorrow for sure.

  5. More than 95,000 hospitalizations nationwide. I thought we’d get to 90,000 this week, but not 95,000. We may at some point approach the winter peak of 125,000. The `wall of immunity’ – though both natural immunity and vaccinations – was like the French Maginot Line. It quickly collapsed under fire from the Delta variant that exploited all the weaknesses and breach points, as a `smart’ virus will do.

  6. I had no idea that Australia has been under LOCKDOWN for months now and continues to do so. I was under the impression that that country was one of the best in controlling the virus from the beginning including vaccination.

    1. Vaccination campaign has been horrible. Inexcusably bad.

Lockdowns have NOT been in effect for months. Certainly not nationwide. It’s been in particular cities or areas, for periods of time, followed be a respite and then a harsh lockdown. I don’t think that’s a good policy, if it’s not coupled with vaccinations. Overall, Australia has done very well in terms of deaths, and also economically it’s done better than virtually all Western economies.
