Hopkinton high was approved yesterday for mask removal for vaccinated individuals…..not for unvaccinated. Apparently, the approval process is not easy. I see that as a good thing. The request was submitted October 1 and it took into the day of October 12 to be approved. Last report I found was that the school has not made a final decision
If you saw some after the second, you will see more after the third.
Positive tests, test positivity, hospital admissions, and deaths are all rising across Britain. It’s not a surge. Rather, it’s a moderate increase across all indicators. The same is happening in the Netherlands. And we’ll see this play itself out across Europe. And yes, after a decline this month from the peak of the Delta wave, the U.S. will also enter a moderately resurgent phase. More pronounced than Europe, because of lower vaccination rates. I disagree with Gottlieb on this. He says that by Thanksgiving we’ll be in a much better place. I say that by early November we’ll be doing what Europe/UK is now: In resurgent mode, albeit mitigated. What people are forgetting is that currently up to 25% of new infections are reinfections or breakthroughs. That number will increase over time.
Thanks Joshua. As I read I thought we’d see a rise just in time for the holidays. I agree with you.
Unmasking vaccinated frustrates me to no end. Vaccinated are still susceptible and can spread. Plus with flu, why not just keep the mask on. An MD in one of links I posted said she planned to keep mask for years. I second that.
Thank you over here also, Sir!
This darn thing is the gift that just keeps giving.

Young men and boosters: more harm than good?

Glad that I’m not a “young man” anymore. Still feeling fine so far. 😉
Awesome. And yes for once being older is a plus
I’ll be honest after the violent reaction I had from the second shot I’m not exactly clamoring to get the booster when I qualify.
I absolutely understand and Am feeling the same.
Dr S. I can’t recall if you had Moderna or pfeizer.
Pfizer
Sorry about the back to back posts, but there seems to be a lot of really good info on Twitter this morning. Well, interesting to me at least 🙂
We talk about the endemic side of covid here a fair amount so this retweet by Gotlieb caught my attention

Gottlieb
No need to apologize in the least Vicki. We can never have too much information. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
🙂
Thanks TK!
The CDC is now using the term “twindemic” with the flu and Covid-19 combo this fall and upcoming winter ahead.
Ugh. I’m concerned about this winter Also.
Apparently, I can’t stop.

And on another topic. Only 4 members of NFL are NOT vaccinated. Impressive
I thought that was NHL (Hockey and not Footbal)
I fear the number in football is much higher.
On sept 5th it was 200 players unvaxxed in the nfl.
I hate percents as you know. Percents in the 90s sound good but I have no idea what actual number is.

Oops. Sorry about that. Thank you for correcting
Apparently it is safer if I post links 🙂 🙂

Possibly a contributing factor to UK rise

Very latest data from September/early October hospital admissions in the Netherlands show that vaccines certainly work well, but are not foolproof:
– 25% of hospital admissions during this period were fully vaccinated persons;
– 20% of ICU admissions during this period were fully vaccinated persons.
Interesting story about big cats – lions – with Covid-19. https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/story-how-chennai-zoo-saved-13-lions-had-covid-19-153709?amp
And just like that, FDA now recommending moderna for third vaccine.
yes, and it is 1/2 dose.
Wow. I only saw a headline. Thanks. And that speaks volumes. Actually it shouts
C-19 for 10-15 is ready.
