   This is absolute truth. I am always surprised to note who wears masks when I wait for curbside. What we call minorities for the most part are masked. But the ones Dr Dewald mentions …for the most past….are not masked.

4. Bryan Adams has tested positive for Covid for the 2nd time in a month. Why would he be traveling to Milan anyway. Seems not safe to me.

   Saw him perform an intimate live solo performance at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. I wasn’t more than 3 feet from him. It was unbelievable. He is quite the performer, to say the least.

5. The new South African variant B.1.1.529 that Joshua posted about yesterday may be given an official name sometime today when WHO meets to decide. Oh joy.

   Why doesn’t South Africa itself ban its citizens from leaving their country to prevent the spread instead of the rest of the world having to all the work (banning)?

7. Fauci apparently said the US is waiting for more information on the new variant before restricting travel. Dr Dewald summed up the idiocy of Biden’s hesitation. She was much more polite than I’m being of course

   1. Hesitating is not smart.

      The variant is not showing up on PCR tests right away (or rapid antigen tests).

      Israel is on the verge of declaring a new national emergency, as it has detected at least one case of the B.1.1.529 variant already. Belgium has detected several cases of the variant, including a traveler from Egypt. Hong Kong has two known cases; both persons were quarantining in a hotel (required there) after traveling from Africa. Didn’t test positive until 4 days after arrival. Transmitted to at least one other person staying at the hotel.

      1. Let’s face it, it is likely all over the world and just a matter of time before it is detected here. We are in for it big time.

9. Channel 5 news carried a story about this new variant.

   This is scaring the crap out of me!

   1. While it makes sense to be worried (I am) try not to let it scare you. I think it’s best we await the results of the tests of the new variant against the vaccine. Should know more in 2 weeks. Also, we have no clear-cut data on transmissibility or lethality.

      Biden should be holding a press conference to reassure the public that the U.S. is investigating the new variant. Alas, it appears that yet another blunder is being made on the messaging front.

      1. Absolutely. I am NOT impressed by the way the administration is handling this.

         Israel is on the verge of a state of emergency.
