    1. Why in hell are we not mandating mitigation practices nationwide. I’m beyond disgusted with how we are handling this. Unvaccinated….as I’ve said many times…..can choose to not have the vaccine. They cannot choose to infect others so passports should have been in full swing by now. Too many Vaccinated folks act as if they are free and clear and can be equally guilty of infecting others with their cavalier approach.

  1. Vicki, I read Faust’s statements on Omicron. Makes sense. I agree that the unvaccinated are the ones most likely to be “punished” (Faust’s words). But, in Massachusetts about 40% of currently hospitalized patients are vaccinated. They are being “punished.” This is why NPI are so important. Philip had asked what NPI refers to: It’s essentially mitigation, or non-pharmaceutical interventions. By mostly ignoring this, or only talking about masks (and not distancing, crowd limits, working from home, etc …) we’re doing everyone a disservice.

  2. Also, Vicki, I highly doubt your son had Omicron. It is in Massachusetts, to be sure, and it will increase its presence over time. But, my best estimate right now is that it’s around 1 to perhaps 1.5% of cases.

    1. I thought O was a probably not what my son had but having been vaccinated just four months ago and having had covid once is curious.

Faust mentioned O and folks who have had covid so it gave me pause. He is also exposed to a large variety of people.

  3. Weekly School positives as of today..December 9

    Students/staff numbers

Week ending dec 9 (5 days)
    6,879/1,105 = 1,375/221 per day …
    1,596 total per day

Week ending dec 2 (7 days)
    8,513/1,396 = 1,216/199 per day….
    1,413 total per day

Today in MA there were 5,472. Somewhere between 25 and 30 percent are in schools; and of those in the school, a higher percentage are our youngest children. Although high school numbers are increasing.

Tom….please feel free to correct my math.
