  1. Thanks TK.

TD Garden lifting its mask mandate. I believe it ends on Saturday, same as the city of Boston.

  2. Vicki, it’s highly likely I had BA.1, as there was little if any BA.2 around in January. BA.1 protects well against BA.2 transmission initially. That appears clear from the data. But, that period may be only as short as 6 to 8 weeks. What is probable is that BA.2 protects well against severe disease from BA.2.

    1. I did know you had BA.1 as it was way too soon for 2. Did you mean BA.1 as the first listed in your last sentence. “… that BA.2 protects well against severe disease from BA.2. “. Heaven knows it is hard to keep them strait 🙂

If so that is what I’m reading and the link I posted said also. Also, fully vaccinated (which to me means boosted as well as vaccinated) protects for BA.2

  3. After almost 2 years, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) says he is still experiencing symptoms of his Covid infection; he recently introduced legislation to expand long Covid research.

Then we have Mr. DeSantis, bully-in-chief, perhaps our next president (I think he will be). “We’ve gotta stop with this Covid theater.” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) was seen on camera scolding high school students for wearing masks at an indoor news conference. https://twitter.com/MeidasTouch/status/1499095230141775872

    1. Bully is right. I was livid when I saw the way he berated the students. And I applauded the one student who stood strong and left his mask on. I think DeSantis later said was joking

      1. No, he’s fundraising off of it. See tweet below. By the way, I’m not a leftist at all. I also don’t want to see hypocrisy when it comes to masks. But, if students are wearing masks for whatever reason (person, school policy) they should be left alone and not bullied. It’s DeSantis’s trademark to be intolerant: Of gays, of transgender folks, of certain books he doesn’t like, of critical race theory, of pro-choice folks, and of Covid-19 mask-wearers and policies in schools requiring masks. All of these are issues which can and should be debated, but as Governor in a free society it’s wrong to quash dissenters and not allow for a debate. It’s a sad spectacle, as it’s NOT the Republican Party I once knew where banning things or being intolerant of dissenting views was not a policy. Now it is, on practically every social issue. Ban, ban, ban is the motto. https://twitter.com/davidfrum/status/1499420173694124037

        1. I don’t follow this. Do you mean he is using his bullying to campaign? What have we become if any one of us approves of a person who campaigns on being a bully

He isn’t a Republican….none of these extremes are. Many republicans of old are now what some call leftists. I don’t consider extreme left to be democrats either.

He is a trump clone. Heaven help us if we get another one. I absolutely believe masks can be debated but only if the science is true.

          1. It’s a strange thing, but his chiding and bullying earn him fans. They basically say, “we’ve had it with masking and mask mandates.” Then, they turn it into a freedom issue, which is strange because in many ways DeSantis is not pro freedom. He wants to ban a lot of things, including debates on race and even books he doesn’t like. Regardless, I do think he will be our next President.

            1. Between folks openly accepting bullying, the thought that he might be the next president and the horror in ukraine, I’m not seeing a very bright outlook for this country
