Whelp, we’re doing it, getting my 5 year old son vaccinated today. Some of the latest data out of Europe and Asia and the wastewater trends in the US tipped the scales for me of risk vs. benefit. If there is another surge or mini surge he’ll at least be somewhat protected
Scotland is surging … yet again. Must be due in part to BA.2. This is concerning. I have a friend who’s an ICU doctor in Scotland – on the frontline. She’s exhausted, as are her colleagues. Hospital admissions are rising steadily towards the previous peak this year, and may well exceed that. https://twitter.com/thehowie/status/1503794674158428163
I do understand Hadi’s sentiment. It’s one that many people have and is understandable. We ultimately have to learn to live with this virus. Yet, its impact is undeniable.
I won’t feel entirely comfortable during my trip, especially the periods spent indoors. Not because I fear getting severely ill. But, I don’t want to get Covid again, and I want to be able to return to the U.S. (can’t do that if I test positive).
Ukraine has pretty much taken over Covid-19 from all media. The Boston Herald doesn’t even print daily Covid statistics (deaths, cases, positivity rates etc.) anymore. I don’t believe even the Boston tv news stations mention Covid much anymore unless a celebrity contracts it or if a city/town/ school district drops a mask mandate.
Btw, have a safe trip Joshua! 🙂
Thanks, Philip.
I don’t like flying or traveling (despite having done a lot of it). I have a genuine fear of flying. But, I don’t let it prevent me from going on airplanes, especially when it’s very important (seeing my daughter).
Covid will return to the news cycle soon, but it won’t be like before. We do know the drill at this point. So, in the likely event of a BA.2 wave we do know what’s coming.
C-19 for 3-16 is ready.
