Well Brigham withdrew plans for surgical centers in the suburbs. What a horrific loss for all of us. Once again, the tail wags the dog.
Thanks TK.
The WHO has issued a warning about a new variant – dubbed XE – which is circulating, and is even more transmissible than BA.2. Not much is known about this variant. More will be known next week, I’m sure. I’ve seen a few articles saying it’s an amalgam of BA.1 and BA.2. But then another article disputed that, saying it’s qualitatively different from both BA.1 and BA.2. I suspect the sequencing labs will churn out the data we need to know about mutations, possible evasiveness, etc …
The Chinese are locking down cities, as you all know. They’re reporting around 10,000 new cases a day. But that is a VAST underestimate. Furthermore, the Wall Street Journal has uncovered that the Chinese government is hiding data on deaths in nursing homes and assisted living in the Shanghai area. No surprise here. The Chinese government has a history of not being forthcoming.
People have said that Pfizer and Moderna should transfer patent rights to China so it can manufacturer mRNA vaccines, to which I say, China is NOT a developing nation. It should have imported these vaccines, but it refused to. I’m tired of treating China like it’s some third world country. It isn’t anymore, and hasn’t been since around 1990. Yet, it often doesn’t want to import good from the U.S. and elsewhere, even when they’re superior.
Omg when will it stop. And I agree. Either the world has the best vaccines or we keep on keeping on

An American living in Shanghai tweeted this about the very stringent lockdown. https://twitter.com/Jaredtnelson/status/1510401412072718343
I’d just been reading this NPR article. Odd how Chile did it well.
