  1. What ever happened to consideration for others?

    BREAKING NEWS ALERT
A federal judge in Florida has voided the national mask mandate covering airplanes and other public transportation as exceeding the authority of US health officials.

The CDC recently extended the mask mandate, which was set to expire on April 18, until May 3.

  2. I’m concerned that we’re going to get to a place in this country that the requirement of regular childhood vaccinations – currently mandatory in almost all jurisdictions – will be declared “unconstitutional.” It could even impact seat belt laws at some point. I understand that there can be friction between public health/safety and constitutionality. But, we’re veering off in a weird direction at this point.

    1. I am also, Joshua. I have a strong feeling that rather than disaster bringing us together that we will lose the country we knew.

  3. Vicki, Max Roser is a very qualified person. He runs Our World in Data. He’s a data person. I believe he’s German.

    1. Thank you. I will follow him. I’m seeing some odd characters showing up on Twitter so checking before following.

It’s nice to hear someone else say we have no clue of the real numbers

  4. How did it take a pandemic for us to figure this out

Pandemic’s lesson for many older folks: Stay in your home as long as you can
For many older Americans and their families, the devastating COVID-19 outbreak — which caused more than 200,000 deaths in nursing homes nationally — was a persuasive argument for living at home as long as possible.

Now, as the pandemic grinds into its third year, a loose-knit band of tech gurus, gerontology researchers, and volunteer-powered elder support groups, called “villages,” is seeking to overcome the obstacles to aging in place. Among the toughest: a worsening shortage of home care workers, who can assist the oldest residents with walking, dressing, or showering.
