Interesting. I am curious about the durability of such a vaccine. There have been studies that show that introducing a vaccine or inoculation directly into the bloodstream has longer durability.
I’m also perplexed at some of the comments, like “China is the way to go.” Really? I would never in a million years want to live in China. China is an authoritarian state, which imprisons dissidents, even kills minority populations, is intolerant of any view that challenges the ruling authority.
For all of our flaws – and yes, our public health failures, too – I’d much rather live here.
Great comment. I wondered also.
Was it you who said with so much virus concentration in our nose and throat that a nasal vaccine might be very beneficial.
I worded that poorly but know I heard it somewhere and it made sense.
I’ve given up on common sense. I saw the comment that China is the way to go and it made me think of some comments I see about our own future. All counterintuitive
The `Legionella’ cases in Argentina are up to 22 – doubled in the past 48 hours. 6 dead; 6 on ventilators. Still spreading. Something is up with this. Could very well be Legionella. But it’s unusual for it to spread like this, even within one hospital.
I was afraid of that. It seems that what we think we have under control due to precious knowledge ends up showing very different characteristics
Schools. It is good to see some common sense comments …not that anyone is listening.
With regard to the comment “China is the way to go” I took it as a compliment referring to the technology of developing an inhaled vaccine as opposed to the traditional needle vaccine, not necessarily the China government system overall.
If I am not correct, then yes, we do have a problem.
Excellent point. I like trying to see both sides.
Philip, you may be right. I probably misinterpreted it.
But, China’s Sinovac – their vaccine – has performed very poorly, which should give pause to any follow-on vaccine the country has developed. Also, China has refused to accept Pfizer/BioNTech or any Western vaccine, for that matter. I realize this is a matter of pride. But sometimes pride can reflect stubbornness.
I think the Chinese are an incredibly productive people. They have come a long way in the last 40 years. But, I still believe their science and technology isn’t up to par across the board. I’m also a rather vehement critic of the regime. I lost a student friend of mine in 1989; he was gunned down near Tiananmen Square (on the Changan Boulevard). I’ll never forget that. I had met him when he visited Boston in the summer of 1987. I wrote many letters to the Chinese government in June of 1989. I also wrote President George HW Bush. Bush wrote back. I have his long, personal letter, in which he thanked me for a thoughtful critique of U.S. policy towards China. Bush, unlike Trump, was NOT above criticism. He liked to be challenged.
