  1. Joshua, with regard as to the UK, could the increase in cases be related to all the gatherings and processions at the Queen’s funeral? Hopefully just temporary.

  2. WBZ radio reported this morning that in MA case #’s are dropping rapidly.

I know we had a surge at my work place a few weeks ago and now it’s clear there. I knew several people who had C-19 a few weeks ago and now I don’t know anybody. So in my limited direct world, this is definitely true. But like in weather, that doesn’t mean I assume it’s like that everywhere…

  3. Whelp, after over 2 and a half years, we’re finally hit with COVID. My was tested positive 7 days ago and is still positive. Her symptoms were pretty bad overall and have only subsided a little bit today. Despite our best efforts to isolate, I tested positive this morning and feel awful. This version isn’t just a cold. The kids have runny noses this morning and we’re preparing to test them (it’s a huge deal to test them as they literally will fight us to the death). We’re assuming they’re positive.

    1. Ace I was wondering why we had not seen you on here. I am so very sorry to hear your news. I am hearing more and more folks say they have Covid for the first time.

I hope you all feel better very quickly. I sure understand your comment about not being easy with the kids. I hope you and they have a very mild case and your wife is better quickly

      1. Thanks Vicki. Def feels like the flu and not mild at all for me. The kids are faring much better (if they have it). Just a runny nose and a mild cough. Hopefully that’s all they get. Good news is school is out Monday and Tuesday anyway for Rosh Hashanah

    1. This was on my list of questions. First, we don’t have a reliable way to track other than waste water. And maybe hospitalizations but that doesn’t tell the whole story either.

Have you seen wastewater numbers. I don’t know where to find them

  4. And on my list of You can’t fix stupid.

I was wrong yesterday. Schools are not the only entity focused on exclusion, the country is. And sadly, it doesn’t seem to be bothering many folks

  5. Hospitalizations are a lagging indicator. The latest data suggest only a 2% increase and a 6% decrease in ICU cases with Covid. What is worth monitoring is whether the increase in cases leads to a sustained increase in hospitalizations in the next few weeks.

    1. The good news on monkeypox is that the R is well below 1, which means it’s on the decline. While there have been plenty of hospitalizations and a handful of deaths, monkeypox has not been nearly as bad as some thought it would be.

  6. Philip, the upsurge in England could indeed relate to the large gatherings. BUT, we’re seeing increases across Europe.

  7. Thanks for the info Joshua!
No matter what I have heard from any news source (I avoid the known biased ones for actual info) I have used your info more than anyone else’s when discussing this with people I know.
