Low pressure to the south of New England ends its extended stay and pulls off to the east today, and clouds associated with it will follow suit and exit – with that departure taking longest from the MA South Shore to Cape Cod. But by the end of the day pretty much everybody will have seen some sun. Milder air also arrives today as the wind shifts to west and southwest. However, don’t get used to the mild weather. We get one more mild day Friday but a strong cold front crosses the region during the afternoon and evening, maybe producing a brief passing shower. This sets us up for a fair, breezy, and cool October weekend. The chilly air gets reinforced later Sunday with another cold front, keeping the cool dry regime going to start next week as well. This pattern will continue to accelerate fall foliage season, which is likely to be running ahead of normal by up to several days, and so far with strong signs of being more brilliant than last year, at least in some locations. Keep in mind that despite some decent rainfall since September, reducing drought, there are some trees that already went into “survival mode” from drought stress, and may have already dropped some leaves.
TODAY: Clouds give way to more sun, first inland, last Cape Cod region. Highs 66-73. Wind W to SW 5-15 MPH.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows 50-57. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny. A brief passing rain shower possible in the afternoon. Highs 68-75. Wind SW 10-20 MPH shifting to NW from west to east by day’s end.
FRIDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy then clearing. Lows 38-45. Wind NW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.
SATURDAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 53-60. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Clear. Areas of frost in sheltered lower elevations. Lows 37-44, possibly colder in sheltered lower elevations. Wind W 5-15 MPH, higher gusts, but may drop to near calm in sheltered lower elevations..
SUNDAY: Sun/cloud mix. A late-day shower possible in southern NH. Highs 56-63. Wind W 10-20 MPH shifting to NW late-day.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy early, then clearing. Lows 37-44. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 56-63. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 11-15)
High pressure over the region shifts to the south and east early to middle of next week with a moderating temperature trend. Next cold front follows after that, current timing late October 13 to early October 14, with a shower threat and a return to cool / dry weather for the end of the period.
DAYS 11-15 (OCTOBER 16-20)
Some up and down temperatures, tending to average near to below normal, with limited precipitation chances around air mass changes.
Good morning and thank you TK.
Thanks TK !!
That yellow thing in the sky later on will be the sun.
No reason to panic.
Hahahahaha. I had to look twice
Wow Kingston and south shore. We had 0.64 yesterday and 0.18 day before but not close to the south shore

The fresh water stream in town was raging this morning.
We got a lot of rain again last night.
You sure did. 5.22 in Kingston is amazing. I suspect you were right around there also. And thunder.
Yes, thunder consistently from 7pm to 10:30, with 10-10:30pm being the loudest, house shaking thunder.
Strangely, it poured like 9:45-10pm and 10:30-midnight, but only rained lightly or not at all during the loudest thunder.
Nerve wracking for sure. And definitely odd re rain.
Tom still can’t believe that thunder & the length of time it was around , my house was literally shaking .
The one near the 139 intersection with route 3?
Yes, 3A I think. Its behind the Veteran’s Memorial Park.
All summer into a good part of September, it was stagnant with a yucky film of pollen on top of the water and there were muddy patches here and there because the water was so low.
Sounds like the one I know of. 🙂 thanks
Thanks, TK
Unless my aging eyes deceive me, it looks like Logan received
ONLY a paltry 0.01 inch of additional rain over night.
Is that correct? Makes 0.80 inch total
Convective in nature so probably right.

For about only 1/2 to 1/3rd of the system being over the southern Caribbean, there sure is a nice circulation.
Our friends in central America are lucky it still has land interaction to go and only a short time in the southwest Caribbean over water.
Probably increases chances it will be a Cat 1 vs something a lot worse.
Thanks TK.
Amazing sediment and debris, etc flowing off of FL

Thanks TK.
I just ran into one Eric Fisher at Topsfield Fair. We had a nice chat. 🙂
Awesome. Did you explain to him if I complain about missing a thunderstorm that it doesn’t mean we missed rain 🙂 🙂 🙂
Haha!!
You know I thought of that right after I walked away and he was getting ready to go back on the air anyway. 😉
Hahahaaha love it
Awesome! Anything to share with us? Does he read here at all?
Thanks
He mentioned on air last evening that he’s heard from Barry. Good to know that Barry is doing well and still quite active in his retirement. 🙂
We talked a little bit about Barry. He’s doing generally well and visiting up north right now!
I didn’t ask him specifically about here but I know most of those guys peek in once in awhile.
He knows the site based on the several chats we have had. Pete also Although Pete likes to be reminded. I will remind 🙂 🙂
Nice !
