After consideration, I have decided to wait until at least April for my next booster. Any vaccine (Moderna) that leaves me “flushed” for 36-48 hours should be more than strong enough to get me through a typical New England winter.
I am certainly not Joshua, but I believe we are at the stage now that vaccines should last a minimum of 4-6 months, eventually leading to annual Covid-19 vaccinations. Of course in the early days of the pandemic, shots lasted no more than a few weeks at a time.
I’m sorry to hear you reacted to this one. I have to all but a little less each time. I seem to remember hearing that if your immune system is strong, you are more likely to react. I suspect that is why I reacted to the flu. It’s the first time I’ve ever had a flu vaccine with an immune boost.
I think the biggest problem is that this virus mutates so quickly. In good part…not the only reason but perhaps one of the main reasons… because we knowingly give it hosts.
I have spread my boosters 6-8 months. But I am at lower risk. Because this new variant is so horribly contagious, I Suspect I’ll have the bivalent after 4.
Interesting tweet. I’m still thinking it over. I tend to like the wording by Jay a bit better, but….
I had to get my coffee before sharing this. There is an definite increase in myocarditis ages 12-39 AFTER being vaccinated. But we are not hearing about it. And we wonder why people do not trust the vaccine. In truth, it isn’t the vaccine, it is those selling the idea we should be vaccinated that cannot be trusted.
A Framingham friend and neighbor has a 15 year old son…my oldest grandsons friend. Post vaccine, he began having sharp chest pains when he inhaled. His parents took him to the ED. He was checked and sent home….mostly diagnosed with anxiety.
Next day it was worse and to their credit as parents who advocate for their child back they went. He was admitted with pericarditis. I think he is now out of ICU.
This was Newton wellesley hospital. My hospital of choice for decades. The one I’ve always trusted. One that is now partnered with the three other exceptional hospitals in MA…three of the best worldwide. But that isn’t the only story. I have several others.
No worries Vicki as I am much better today, not that I felt all that bad to begin with. It’s just with the Pfizer, I had “zero” reaction as opposed to “some” reaction. Those from WHW have had far worse from what I have read here these many months.
What I find interesting about that young age range posted is that at the CVS there were mostly those waiting for their shots. I believe I was the only “old” person there at that particular time. Don’t know if that has been typical for CVS. They all seemed to be in their 30s, maybe even a bit younger.
My grandkids all get both vaccines at their pediatricians office. That could explain why no youngsters
