A battle between low pressure and high pressure will be won by low pressure into midweek, as a trough impacts the region with occasional wet weather through Wednesday, with the highest chance of showers in any given location today and Wednesday. This will be as 2 different lows are closest to or over the region. Tuesday brings a reduced chance as a little nosing in of high pressure from the east takes place, but still not a “great” weather day. Thursday, a cold front pushes everything off to the east, and we improve, but the mild air will still be in place and it won’t be until a secondary front crosses the region that cooler air will arrive for the end of the week.

TODAY: Cloudy. Areas of fog and drizzle.Occasional to numerous showers, especially this afternoon including isolated thunderstorms. Highs 56-63. Wind NE-N up to 10 MPH.

TONIGHT: Cloudy. Areas of fog and drizzle. Showers likely in the evening including the chance of thunder. Lows 48-55. Wind N-NE up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. Patchy fog. Chance of a shower. Highs 58-65. Wind E up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Areas of fog. Chance of showers, especially overnight. Lows 48-55. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Cloudy. Areas of fog. Showers likely. Highs 56-63. Wind E 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers. Areas of fog. Lows 48-55. Wind variable up to 10 MPH.

High pressure is expected to bring fair weather and generally seasonable air to the region for the last 3 days of October before the weather turns unsettled with the arrival of a low pressure trough to start off November.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 3-7)

A little uncertainty in this period. For now going with a drier overall pattern but another interval of unsettled weather may take place somewhere mid to late period with another trough / disturbance combo near the East Coast.

    I hope Belichick had the team practice with “wet” balls. You want to clobber these Bears, don’t keep them in the game on fumbles (turnovers). The Jets next week is not going to be a gimme game this time.

    Frankly I wish Mac was NOT starting tonight, regardless of the weather conditions.

      1. Absolutely true. And if Jones plays and we sadly lose, I’m hoping folks will not believe the outcome would be different if zappe played.

        1. What if we lose and Mac has a bad game (costly turnovers). He’ll be rusty and I’ll give him time to battle that. But poor decision making resulting in turnovers is inexcusable. If he looks like the Mac from games 1-3, how can u not think the outcome would have been different with Zappe?

          1. Looking at the big picture, I just do not agree. If his receivers are not where they should be, if he even had receivers, if he had protection in the pocket, if plays were called wisely……it’s a team game. We know shy Brady left and BB is doing the same to Jones.

            Both teams zappe played were horrific. Those he passed to were wide open. And ironically two of the three were tight ends and the third was a rookie WR who might have a future.

            I’m not saying Jones will win every game. I don’t expect him to. But even if he loses every game, he is a better QB than zappe. That was my point.

              1. No. He wasn’t close. Not many are. Brady’s mechanics are about as perfect as they get. Not sure why that relates.

                2. Ace. What is your purpose for Bledsoe vs Brady. I answered that. To repeat. Bledsoe was never a Brady then either. I don’t base my comments on wins or loses. I base it on talent.

              2. I need to add that my agreement with SAK is Jones is the better QB. I’m not convinced Jones shouldn’t have another week to recover.

  4. I found it ironic that for the Yankees final out, Judge grounded out to the pitcher who casually tossed it to first just like when the Red Sox swept St. Louis for the WS in 2004.

    I didn’t watch the game but the Yankees almost foiled Houston’s sweep late.

  5. IMHO, the over night rainfall totals were disappointing.

    Logan came in with a whopping 24 hour total of 0.12 inch
    as of 5 minutes ago. 🙂

    1. Draw a line from Hingham to Newport. Everything south and east of there got 0.25″-1.00″. Everything north and west got less than 0.25″.

    2. Then it’s a good thing this isn’t January, then Logan would have received a measly 1.2 inches of “snow”. You would have gone nuts as probably myself as well. 😉

      Of course I am assuming this exact same setup would have produced all snow regionwide.

      2. I hate when people use that logic, because it is absolutely untrue. Here’s the thing: If it’s cold enough to snow, then the atmosphere cannot hold as much moisture as it does when the temperature is in the 50s. In fact, air that is 32 degrees can only hold half of the amount of moisture that 50-degree air can.

  13. Some rather loud thunder here in downtown Nashua. Had to re-do one of my recordings because I could hear it through the walls of the studio.

  14. The 12z GFS continues to project a late season hurricane and actually landfalls it in the Florida panhandle/Alabama coastal area.

      1. November 8th …. a long ways away, so …..

        Just the idea that this feature has been on the GFS 4 to 5 days or so and this is the first time it hasn’t taken the system way out to sea.

  16. I guess I’m the only one here with the “Zappe Fever”. Let’s hope that Mac Jones can “vaccinate” me tonight with a quality win.

    1. I’m inflicted too Philip. I have a feeling the Mac Jones vaccine will be just about as effective as the Pfizer/Moderna COVID vaccine

    3. Color me Zappe as well.
      There is something about Mac that doesn’t quite sit right with me. I can’t exactly put my finger on it.

      FWIW, I read a report this morning explaining why it would be better for the team to start Zappe.

      It went something like. The cubs are a non-divisional team while the next team is the Jets, a divisional rival. The logic being that the divisional game is more important. Therefore, give Mac 6 more days to recuperate and let the hot Zappe start against the non-divisional team and allow Mac
      to start against the Jets in better shape that he would be tonight. Not to mention that If Mac started tonight not completely healed, he would only have 6 days to recover and not 7, this being a short week.,

      This logic makes perfect sense to me and unless BB has already declared Mac the started, it would not surprise
      me to see Zappe start as BB would certainly be tuned into this
      logic.

      Unless I hear it from BB, I fully expect ZAPPE to start for the reasons stated above, Plus BB loves to **** with opponents! 🙂 🙂

      1. JPD I agree with that reasoning. I’ve been worried about starting Jones too soon. And the field may be slippery. And I don’t trust BB

  17. Dont worry about Mac vs Zappee ….

    Here’s their BRUTAL schedule after the Bears. This nice soft schedule has allowed them to get some wins and make their next 3 games relevant. But, they are out-talented in most of these remaining games.

      Realistically, 10-7 gets you a wild card, which means they have to 6-4 the last 10.

      That’s what prompted my first comment. Zappe played powder puff teams. If Jones loses to the top teams there will be a wall of zappe.

  24. Vicki, u were missing my point above re: Bledsoe vs. Brady. Forget for a minute what Brady became. At that moment back in 2001 when Bledsoe was healthy and ready to come back in, who was the better QB in your opinion? Who had the most proven talent?

    1. Im not missing your point at all. Brady was always the Choice. You know there is depth of talent before NFL right. Or I hope you know. Brady always had talent. Bledsoe was excellent. But if you recall and i am sure you do, he couldn’t survey the field at all. One point.

      Btw. Did anyone notice zappe just threw the pass behind the receiver. Frankly. Jones is better with another team. Just as Brady showed us
