Thanks TK for continuing this side of the blog! 🙂
Pfizer and BioNTech are currently developing a one shot Covid-19 and flu vaccine combination.
I vote for the weekly posts but the tab does work for me as well. Whatever, as long as Covid-19 can still be discussed here.
Great idea to poll. Thank you, TK.
If the newer posts can be on top using the tab, I’d go with that. Often I remember some information posted on this page but cannot recall what day. If it is all on its own continuing page, I can just search.
If we continue weekly posts, I don’t really mind either. I suspect people just won’t post Saturday and Sunday. Again, no big deal. Weekends are quiet anyway unless there is a storm and then the activity is on the weather side.
I’ll be happy with either choice. If I had to choose, I’d say the tab since it is always easily accessible.
Thanks for all you do here TK!
There is good news to report on Covid. One of the two new sub-variants is already on the decline in Europe. I believe it’s the BQ.1.1. We lag Europe, so we may spike a bit in the near future but then the R will drop fast. Not only that, BQ.1.1 did NOT lead to a substantial rise in hospitalizations. I am hoping that the other new sub-variant of concern will do the same.
Where do you rank RSV? Hospitalizations of children are through the roof right now.
Both RSV and influenza may turn out to be bigger problems for hospitals this winter than Covid. I think this may already be the case in some hospitals.
Does that mean we can finally put Covid in the rear view mirror for 2023?
I posted a bit ago that the thought is that it takes eight-ish months for the immune system to fully function after Covid….even a mild version. This is thought to be one reason RSV has been far worse this year since kids are constantly exposed to Covid. It makes sense that the same applies to flu
I’m so sick of our absolute recklessness when it comes to our children. Our most respected health care folks see this. When will we stop
I thought I heard awhile back that there is a vaccine for RSV but there are supply shortages.
Is this correct?
This RSV is totally new to me, maybe if I had kids it would be a household name. Never heard of it at all growing up and I had my share of colds and flu from time to time.
Not that I am aware of. But maybe??
Flu vaccine question. I have never had a vaccine that hurt. That would be 73 years worth. The flu vax this year was so far up my arm that it was at my shoulder bone. And it hurt like the dickens. I thought the person just did a poor job. But three grandkids a couple of weeks ago and now my SIL today had the exact same thing happen.
Have they switched location I’m the arm for vaccines?

Not sure I can change the comments on one tab without changing it on the entire blog, but I’ll look into that. In the mean time, this will be the go-to I suppose. Updates to come…
Ahhhh yes. That may be the case. This seems to work well.

Your no-hype southeastern New England weather blog!

Covid is still a major public health concern. But, in my view, I believe it is now the number 2 public health concern in America. I wrote a piece about what I consider the number 1 public health concern at the moment. https://www.forbes.com/sites/joshuacohen/2022/11/06/fentanyl-is-the-biggest-public-health-problem-currently-facing-the-us-federal-state-and-local-governments-arent-doing-enough-to-combat-it/?sh=59cd1ead12d5

What is worse. Most parents have little choice.
