  1. I vacumed the pool and my dad and I put chemicals into the pool Yesterday . We now have a solar cover on it.
Water temp of the marshland is in the middle 40s . I saw some fog forming over the marsh last night .
The black birds are back . There are 4 flocks that live around here. I wonder how large they are. flock 3 is getting smaller every year. Some one that keeps count of bird populations have been tagging birds. So far flocks 2 and 3 are here but i have not seen flock 3. the way i Know is that he put different color tags on them. I only have seen red which is group 2. Its nesting season so they are more seperated and forming thier own areas to make nests. Its usually later on in june when we see them flying in the flocks.

    1. Also we have marsh hawks that live around here. There suprisingly 5 of them in the area. We also have turkeys, bunnies and several other animals. I have not seen the river otters, fishercats turtles, snakes ,the cats that roam around. It is also seeming that even though we are having really warm temps that we are seeing the trees not growing many leaves. Is it because of the lack of water.

  2. Yesterday was a very nice day to kick off a new season of the Swan Boats in the Public Garden in Boston. Mayor Menino and his wife goes on the first ride around the lagoon every year. Many times it is chilly and damp. Yes, we need rain but at least people can get outside and enjoy the beginnings of spring. 🙂

    1. Philip I was just talking to my daughter about the swan boats. I wanted to find our when she felt it would be time to head in with the new baby. We go every year. I have pictures of the swan boats all over. It was the welcome of spring ritual for my mom both when my brother and I were little and when her grandkids came along.

  3. Pool water temp is 60.2 degrees which is the warmest ever at this time of yr, last yr at about this time the pool temp was 55.8 degrees

  4. Alot of the trees around here are pass there beautiful budding stage and are more than half green leaves already

    1. In Boston there are still some trees acting more like mid-February rather than mid-April. Vegetation growth is much slower than the interior suburbs.

      1. That is just odd – even Cambridge (Mt Auburn cemetery) and Belmont are at same point we are at here

      2. Philip, most of the trees here in Easton are still “sleeping” as well. Other than the usual early bloomers and budders, most of the other trees weren’t fooled by the early warmth in March. In fact, this weekend is the first time we’ve seen unseasonable warmth since then.

    1. Hi Coastal – I’m not Tom 😉 Humarock 🙂 If you like Rocks – I’m not a fan of their public beach 🙂 Green Harbor. Rexham (sp?) Of course Tom will know a lot more but didn’t know if I could help if he’s not here !!

We are going to Good Harbor in Gloucester tomorrow – love it there too.

      1. In Marshfield, there’s Rexhame beach. To get there, take the left across from the Rexhame general store about a mile or two after the Police station on Rte. 139. Take the street all the way to the end, which will put you in the parking lot. There’s the beach in Brant Rock Village, just be careful where you park, as sometimes they ticket if you park in front of businesses if you park for multiple hrs. There’s Burke’s beach in green harbor village. Take a left on the first road after going past green harbor. A the end of that road, take a left and minimal parking is at the end of that road.

If you go to the beach, enjoy ! High tide is a little after 8 am, so there’ll be plenty of beach btwn noon and 3 pm.

          1. Lol….I think the Gloucester beaches and coastline in general are beautiful. If we hadn’t driven a lot today, maybe we’d be more adventurous and head for those north shore beaches. Last May, we spent a couple days in Magnolia and I thought that whole area was great ! Hope you have a great time tomorrow Vicki…..

            1. I just looked up that beach…….I love those beaches where there’s a river or inlet that fills up at high tide and is fairly empty at low tide. In fact, there appears to be one like that on Cape Cod Bay that I intend to finally get to this week…….Paine’s creek beach in Brewster.

            2. Tom a couple of miles down the road from good harbor is bearskin neck in rockport. You can drive a car on it but most dont. It’s about 1/3 of a mile jutting out into the ocean full of artsy shops and restaurants. We always head there after the beach. It’s a blast. You may already know this but if you haven’t been it is well worth the trip. Good harbor is sand and dunes and at low tide you can walk forever. Also tons of fun

            3. Did you go to the castle is magnolia. I love that area. But it doesn’t have the pull for me that your area has 🙂

              1. Hmmm…we went to an Inn at Magnolia that was recommended to us. It was nice. I forget the name unfortunately. Maybe the Inn at Magnolia ?

          1. That’s the beach in Brant Rock. If it has a name, I don’t know it. 🙂 Left side of the beach is rocky, right side of the beach has more sand.

If your thinking beach with kids, this Marshfield beach is the sandiest with a very shallow slope into the water and has a large rock jetty that takes care of most of the ocean waves. Best place to park for it is in the post office parking lot about 1/4 mile up the street. But, there’s a small area to drop off and pick up family so they don’t have to do the walk.

              1. We are thinking grabbing breakfast and eating it at the beach. Kids are too young to be out in the hot mid day sun. Thinking of getting there around 7:30 am and staying for a hour or two. They have never seen the ocean so it would be fun to grab a bite to eat and fool around.

My wife was like “who is Tom? lol

  5. Anybody know of anyone looking for an apartment in Brighton? Great area and great apartment just outside of Cleveland Circle and off of Beacon. Right on Brookline/Brighton line. Son is losing his roommate and I told him I’d ask. Oh – his roommate owns the condo but is moving in with his girlfriend – go figure !

      1. Hahahaha. I glared them away. Not a drop of rain. I know that’s not good but I didn’t want to go inside. Chances are I would have stayed out in rain anyway

    1. Coastal that is brantrock beach. The beach I grew up on is fieldston, trouble is there is no parking. Sorry to answer for Tom, I grew up in marshfield.

  6. It’s truly going to feel, look, and smell like early summer tommorrow, some places could see 90 degrees. The kids already are planning a day in the pool, pool gets about 8 hrs of sun from 10am-6pm so temp is up to 60.5 and the temp is taken from a reliable spot about 12-15 inches below the surface, have a great night everyone 🙂

  7. Ch. 4 went off the air yet again and then later Ch.5. Both are just back on for now and hope they stay there. Tonight I want to watch The Good Wife and a new police drama NYC 22 on Ch. 4…What is up with Sunday evenings lately??

I will keep everyone posted…or am I the only one here that can be affected by antenna issues?

  8. I think we could see some areas in SNE flirt with the 90 degree mark for the first time this year tomorrow. This is not good news for those running in the marathon. It could be worse and be thankful were not cleaning up from tornado damage as parts of the Plains are.

    1. So true. The runners are in control of what they do. Sadly those in the path of a tornado are not. Thanks for putting it in perspective. I was watching some of the storm coverage. Tragic
