Sunday October 22 2023 Forecast (7:48AM)

DAYS 1-5 (OCTOBER 22-26)

Low pressure continues to impact the region today, but it will be a mostly fair kind of low pressure impact. While the deck of clouds associated with yesterday’s wet weather has now lifted to our northeast and north, it will rotate back through here this evening along with a weakening area of rain showers, really becoming just light showers/sprinkles as it moves through. Before that, our sunny start to Sunday will end up as a sun/cloud mix as we pop diurnal cumulus clouds. Behind all this, another sun/cloud mix day is expected Monday, along with breezy and chilly conditions. High pressure builds in Monday night with a quick-falling temp, but also quickly happening will be an advancing high to mid level cloud deck ahead of a warm front. If this arrives quickly enough, it may put the brakes on the temperature drop pre-dawn and prevent some areas from reaching frost levels, but I still expect a fair amount of the region to see it. These clouds will be around, limiting and filtering the sun on Tuesday as the warm air advances above us first. When we’ll feel it at the surface more prominently is on Wednesday, when we’ll be in a southwesterly air flow of mild air. And this time it’s not just a one-day warm-up, but it continues through Thursday, along with fair weather in general. Patchy clouds may visit us again Thursday as a weakening frontal boundary tries to push into the region, but is thwarted by a ridge of high pressure.

TODAY: Sunny start, then clouds develop limiting the sun from midday on. Highs 52-59. Wind W 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Scattered to isolated rain showers north to south. Lows 42-49. Wind NW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.

MONDAY: Sun and passing clouds. Highs 52-59. Wind NW 10-20 MPH, gusty.

MONDAY NIGHT: Clear through evening then increasing high clouds overnight. Fog patches in lowest elevations and especially over lakes/ponds. Frost likely especially outside urban centers and away from the immediate shoreline. Lows 35-42, 28-35 in normal cold spots. Wind NW 5-15 MPH early, diminishing to calm.

TUESDAY: Partial sunshine. Highs 56-63. Wind calm early, then SW up to 10 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 43-50. Wind SW 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 63-70. Wind SW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear. Ground fog patches late evening / overnight. Lows 45-52. Wind SW diminishing to under 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs 65-72. Wind SW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.

DAYS 6-10 (OCTOBER 27-31)

During the final days of October, I expect a westerly flow pattern with the potential for one or two frontal boundaries to come through the region. Currently, the indication is that moisture for these will be limited and the bigger impact will be for them to eat away at the mild pattern and turn us cooler.

DAYS 11-15 (NOVEMBER 1-5)

Cautiously confident in going with a continued westerly flow pattern and a trend to below normal temperatures, but still need to watch for moisture from the south and west that some guidance may not be seeing as of yet.

    1. Well, who would want to see that piece of crap product?
I wouldn’t go if the tickets were given to me for FREE!!!!

      1. I took pats in the office pool today . As bad as the pats are Buffalo Is not the same Buffalo & this should be a running game today vs air .

    2. I wasn’t going to watch. But as much as I am disgusted with the so called head coach, I can’t walk away from my team.

        1. They may have made it something I can do for the first time in my life. I am not sure I can support a franchise that turns its head on a coach that destroys careers.

  1. The foliage may not be as brilliant as the last few years but I’m going to tell you right now that the Mass Pike is really nice. Especially between I-95 and I-495.

    1. Cool. Must have peaked a ton since last Tuesday when we drove in. There were patches of very nice color but more green than color. We are seeing more out here in the past few days too but as always a lot of green too.

  2. BREAKING NEWS: The Patriots signed Bill Belichick to a lucrative multi-year extension during the offseason. No word on the exact numbers.

      1. Omg. I was sure it was a joke too. The article you posted makes me sick. Secretly signed. Ya think? And his record? Are they smart enough to know who credit for the record actually goes to? Arghhhhhhhh

      2. Actually I disagree. Bill is still an excellent coach, but that doesn’t automatically make the players perform as you instruct them. It’s still on them in the end to make the plays.

I still maintain that N.E. fans (not all of us) are struggling to except the fact the Brady Era is over. I never fooled myself. I knew it would end eventually. And the odds of the next era just picking up where that one had us for 2 decades? HAH. Ok.

        1. Good points. As you know, I’m not one of the folks struggling with the end of the Brady era. I don’t agree re BB but that sure doesn’t make me right. Heck I disagreed with Hadi more than once when he said it was Brady and not BB. And I now believe I was wrong then. His record either side of tom is not good. His history of drafting which we know Brady was not fond of isn’t good. But it’s more his approach that I can’t respect. I’ve never been a fan of kicking someone when down. I had it repeated to me that is not the best way to coach from the time I can recall. And I may be wrong but it would be hard to teach me otherwise.

  3. Thanks, TK.

Patriots have a lead, wouldn’t you know.

TK did predict the Patriots might surprise us with a win against Buffalo. I think he saw that on one of his secret models, the experimentalpatriot, I believe it’s called.

    1. I never lose faith in my teams. We know Jones has talent. He’s not alone. I’ve been hoping he and they could rise above. Win or lose, I give them credit for trying.

  4. Pats have the Bills where they want them now. Really controlling the clock, moving the ball and getting this closer to a 2 possession game. I’m impressed.

      1. Hahahaha. I said elsewhere. To me while a win would be icing on the cake, Jones and the team rose above the negatives and came together.

  5. I didn’t want to say this, but I will anyway. I hope all the people who proclaimed they were done watching this team kept their word. They didn’t deserve to see today’s game acting as a fan, because they’re not fans of the Patriots.

That said, I bet they all lied anyway, and were watching. 🙂

    1. I watched. The air turned blue every time the camera panned to a certain individual but despite him am really proud of our team.

    2. Hey, I watched most of the game and I have to say, they looked like a different team out there today, that’s for sure.

Now, let’s hope they keep up the good work. Was it perfect? nope, but vastly improved over previous weeks!

  6. Mike Tomlin is underrated, in my opinion. He gets the most out of his players, year in and year out. It’s remarkable. Never had a losing season. His team is 4-2 this year. In the mix, once again.

Frankly, I don’t know of any other coach in my lifetime who has been this consistent.

  7. I would always watch the Patriots and cheer them on. Here are my thoughts.

    1. OLINE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IN THE DRAFT/Free Agency. This will solve so much of the issues we are seeing across the board.
    2. Elliot was a good fine for both running and blocking, two years ago, the Patriots got rid of the fullback, since then they have struggled. Today Elliot kind of acted as a fullback and running back.
    3. KB, Douglas and the TE’s are by far the best weapons. Need to keep JUJU and Parker on the pine.
    4. The offense looked more complex it does usually take time for a new offensive scheme to be taken in. Bill O’Brian opened up his playbook and you can tell. Look for that to continue.
    5. Mac Jones was good today. They gave him more time to pass. He won for just the second time when he fell behind which is good if you look at it that way and is the first against a good team. The other way you could look at it though is that he made some boneheaded throws again today and the team should never have been in that position in the first place.
    6. Lot of calls went our way today in terms of the penalties that could have gone either way, and there were others missed. Need that to be cleaned up for ref teams that are more stingy with the rules than the one they had today.
    7. With that said though, why the heck did the Bills get bailed out late. They didn’t get the ball off on time. Then they got it off and the Patriots intercepted it, but then it was said the Bills called a timeout. Like the clock was at 00 it should have been a penalty.

    8. I am not sure about getting a QB in this year’s draft. I think the first round needs to be reciever, one that can stretch down the field with size and speed to supplement Bourne, Douglas and Boute. Then maybe get Oline help in the 2nd round. give up an olineman and a third for a second rounder as well and maybe get a QB in the second round along with a QB or get a qb in the 3 or 4 round that is promising the Qbs are a deep this year. We need a serviceable back up and someone that may be takes over Mac Jones in the future if he doesn’t actually improve next year. Remember this is his thrid year with each year being a different OC. this game did tell me that I was starting to look more at jones the past few weeks but today it reconfirms that if he has the pieces around him, he could lead the Patriots back to the playoffs. If he doesn’t by next year, then he is out.

  8. TK. Is it possible that you could work on changing frost like to freeze for tomorrow night. Please and thank you !!
