Briefly Wetter, Then Getting Better

2:46AM

A little reverse on the title of a recent blog, because this time we have wet weather coming in for a relatively short time during midweek before high pressure returns fair weather to the region late in the week. The wet weather will be caused by a slow-moving front that comes in from the west tonight through Wednesday night, lingering into Thursday, with an area of low pressure forming on it to the south, eventually drifting to east with time.

Forecast for eastern MA, southern NH, and RI…

TODAY: Mostly cloudy. High 66-72, coolest coastal areas. Wind S 5-15 MPH.

TONIGHT: Cloudy. Showers after midnight. Low near 60. Wind S 5-15 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Cloudy. Showers likely. High 65-70. Wind S around 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy. Low 57. High 69.

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy. Low 55. High 73.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 57. High 77.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 58. High 78.

MONDAY: Sunny. Low 60. High 80.

  1. Thanks TK! At first glance I thought I was on the wrong blog entry. You had what looked to be the same title as one from a week or 2 ago, then I looked and realized you switched the wording around. This time, the wetter comes before the better! 😉

  2. Something tells me this weekend, at least Saturday, is going to be a bust. Cloudy and misty, on shore breeze in the 60’s at the coast. Sunday maybe a little better. Outside of 495, it should be better, but this weekend isnt going to turn out as forecasted. that low meandering around out there I think will move back west a bit more and set up a not so great saturday at least. I hope im wrong.

      1. I don’t know TK, there’s a wall of water headed our way. I’m not done with golf tonight till 8ish, we shall see if I stay dry! If not then ill be  tomorrow!

    1. I hear ya on that one JJ. Just wish we had some decent beach weather. It needs to be a bit warmer for my liking to hit the beach. Its ok for walking around the beach area, but not for going in the water and laying out on the beach. I’m itching for those days!

      1. Me too!!!!! I dont see any, at least in the next week or so. Maybe toward the end of the month. I’m going to NC end of next week for a week so i’m sure I’ll warm my cold bones there.

  3. I am not a warm weather hater. To me the perfect summer temps are highs in the upper 70s low 80s and nightime lows in the mid to upper 50s.
With those nightime lows in the 50s for the weekend that is telling me the air is dry and the humidity will be in check.

    1. 50’s are too cool at night for June-August. Most people like to do nightime cookouts, swimming, beach, etc. I’ll give you that weather later in September. So far, June’s been a big disappointment. Can’t seem to get any consistency going with decently warm weather. At least im outa here for a week soon. High 80’s and some decent beach weather. Maybe when I get back it will be better around here.

      1. i need nights to stay in the upper 50s or higher. I have not gone in the pool at night yet this year but during the day i have gone in. but i have not gotten to go to the beach yet.

          1. It’s summer everywhere else. July 4th is in 3 weeks. Doesn’t seem like summer. I think this summers gonna be a darn poor one. Much like winter was for snow lovers. There’s still time. But then again that’s what you guys said the middle of january too.

  4. I’m tried of runnig my pool heater so much. The cool nights suck the heat right out even with a solar cover. It’s the middle of june, it supposed to be warm, even in this godforsaken place!

    1. Well after about a year of above normal temperatures I guess we were slightly overdue for a cooler than normal month (granted we’re not even half way through it yet so there is still time for recovery).

  5. got my class schedual for college 🙂
    monday wednesday once class .8:30-9:20
tuesday and thursday 2 classes one from 9:00-11:45 the other 1:30-2:45
    friday:830 –920 then a bio lab 12:30-2:30
I have bio, algebra and power… Power is a mix of english and sociology

      1. yeah friday is going to be the worse but not as bad as the kid before me . he has all his classes from 730-10 and then the rest after 3pm. so I am lucky

  6. Looking at the surface data for eastern Canada….that very warm bubble of air that circled around New England is today in Labrador, where in the central part of Labrador, there is a surface ob of 93F.

  7. We’ve had some wonderful weather the last several days. Some of the best days of the year! It’s great living here in New England!

      1. I agree totally coastal. I thought today was fine also. Not too hot but plenty warm. Lovely breeze. My grandson was in his blow up pool all day. Unless he was lobbing water balloons at me

        1. I agree. I’m glad your grandson had a good time in this beautiful weather. You sound like an amazing Grandmother.

    1. i think he is looking for summer weather. which i think he and i both call 80s and 90s with sunshine with those boomers in the late afternoon. and do not forget the humidity. I am upset with it as well It was nicer out out in april than now.

  8. We here in Massachusetts are so lucky to have such great hospitals so close to us. Some of the best in the world!

  9. GFS parks a big fat upper level closed low right over the Northeast starting around June 24 to near the end of the month on both 12z and 18z runs. The Euro hints at the start of this as well near the end of its forecast period on the 12z run. Hopefully it’s overdone.

    1. If the NAO stays negative, then I can see this happening. It’s not fun having to forecast 70 degrees 3 straight days in a row in the middle of June, and the models were showing 60s for the coastline on those days!
But hey, this is why we love the weather, it has quite the tale 🙂

      1. NAO looks to tank again so a stuck cut off low seems inevitable. With the exception of a couple days, the nao has been at or below zero for 6 weeks and it doesn’t look to change. Until that goes up, I don’t see how a summer pattern can get going.

  10. The history the our area offers is unbelievable! The birth of our nation to the invention of the telephone all right here.

        1. A little good-natured ribbing in light of some of the gloominess (both from the weather and other sources wink wink) is not a bad thing. Name calling is however. Let’s be cool (oh there it is again…another weather pun).

          1. Its not that good natured. He knows I eat Prozac like M &Ms when the weathers like this. He’s just poking me like a little kid would. If you don’t suffer from depression, you have no idea.

            1. Brad…in semi public forum such as this you have to remember that if you air your thoughts, worries, concerns and personal information it may sometimes leave you open to some forms of feedback. In this case I think it was pretty mild and not meant with any malice at all. If this had been the WBZ forum you would have been skewered all over the place.

              1. One of my best friends suffers clinical depression. It’s real. I’ve been watching it for a decade.

                1. TK it’s ok to not like something esp if its something you cant control but it’s also ok to be positive. I am by nature a positive person but after a lot of negativity I need to either find a positive or be swallowed by the negative

        2. Brad, just roll with it man, no worries 🙂 He’s not trying to attack u, hes just voicing his feelings much like u have. They may be different but that’s ok, we all have different feelings and opinions on things

  11. I think it’s time to update the blog.

The end of this week and the start of next week look very good.

  12. I agree TK I don’t think that storm over the weekend retrogrades too close to cause any issues.

  13. Don’t even get me started on the great schools and colleges our area has to offer. What an amazing place to raise your family.

    1. Speaking of which. My son got accepted to UMass Amherst for Computer Science. He had been accepted to a number of schools in the area but was wait-listed at UMass. Finally got the word about 1o days ago. Went out and did the tour again there yesterday. Beautiful campus..nice area.

        1. I am. He’s a great kid…don’t all parents say that 🙂 I forgot how nice the campus was out there. It’s big but not overwhelming.

        1. Thanks Vicky. He’s looking forward to it. One of his good friends from High School is also going there

  14. Since we are on the topic. Brad I would really like to keep trying to understand. I think it only makes a person stronger to understand others. And if we all see where you are coming from then it makes the blog steongenr if thats ok for me to say TK In addition to meds is there a way to train your mind to look for positives ? I feel as if sometimes you are so focused on the negatives ot looking forward to the negatives that you don’t ever see the positives and that may well be part of what clinical depression is all about. I won’t be back till tomorrow but will look for an answer. Thanks for your openness.

  15. It’s complicated. But suffice it to say when you have a constant itch that lives on the coast banging in your ear like last night, it doesn’t help. And you feeding the beast didn’t help much either.

    1. Brad sorry but I think that is unfair. You post regular criticisms of this area. Coastal was posting positives. Why is what he’s doing a problem while what you are doing is not.

I am sincerely trying to figure out how clinical depression works and where you are coming from Maybe it would help if I explain where I come from. You would not go into a persons home and find fault with it. For me new England is my home on a larger scale. It’s hard to hear regular negative comments about it. It is my nature to point out the good things both defensively and because I honestly see incredible positives. oh I know it’s not perfect but….
