Tuesday March 18 2025 Forecast (7:01AM)

DAYS 1-5 (MARCH 18-22)

Slow clearing will take place today as drier air arrives behind yesterday’s cold frontal passage. High pressure builds in tonight into Wednesday with fair and more tranquil weather after a gusty breeze is with us during today. Clouds return Thursday as the next trough approaches from the west. A frontal system will approach in association with the trough, and low pressure will develop and move across or just southeast of our area by early Friday. While this system starts as rain for the region, enough cold air can work in on its back side to cause the precipitation to mix with or turn to snow before ending, especially over interior higher elevations, but some mixing is possible even into the coastal plain, especially from Boston north. After a chilly Friday night, it will recover somewhat on Saturday ahead of another trough and accompanying frontal system that can bring a shower of rain or mix late Saturday. Vernal equinox (start of spring) occurs on Thursday morning at 5:01 a.m. EDT.

TODAY: Mostly cloudy start, then becoming mostly sunny. Highs 51-58. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, gusts 20-25 MPH.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear. Lows 33-40. Wind NW to N diminishing to under 10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs 48-55 coast, 55-62 inland. Wind N up to 10 MPH shifting to E.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Lows 35-42. Wind E under 10 MPH.

THURSDAY: Cloudy. Highs 46-53. Wind SE 5-15 MPH.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Cloudy. Rain likely. Lows 38-45. Wind variable 5-15 MPH.

FRIDAY: Cloudy morning with rain possibly ending as mix and/or snow, especially interior higher elevations. Partly sunny with a passing light rain or snow shower possible afternoon. Temperatures steady 38-45, may fall slightly. Wind N to NW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Clearing. Lows 26-33. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.

SATURDAY: Sunny morning. Increasing clouds afternoon with a late day or evening rain/mix shower possible. Highs 48-55. Wind NW 5-15 MPH shifting to SW.

  1. Good morning and thank you TK.
    38 here this morning.
tons of blades of fresh green grass pokingvthrough.

me thinks that just might be a sign of Spring.

  2. Damp and below normal for a good chunk of April? Not good if you like me I’m a fan of warm weather.

  3. Thanks, TK!

38 when I left for school.

2.30″ yesterday! The Taunton River looked much better this morning!

    1. I think snow is done around these parts old salty Boston / south . I said that weeks ago . And it’s just my guess , nothing more . Maybe a passing flurry or something. My dad thinks he will get another good storm up Maine .

  4. Models suggest cold rain for Friday for SNE, but some snow in ski country with a few more systems that could produce more snow up there in the coming 10 days or so.

    1. Would like to see ONE system to produce snow here in SNE within the next 10 days or so. ❄️

March Average for Boston = 9.0”
      Total to date = 0.0” 🙁

  5. Was just out. 50 degrees here.
In the sun it was MOST COMFORTABLE in jeans and a jersey, however, in the shade could feel the BITE of the EAST WIND!!

    1. Maybe some day maybe I’ll fish the Concord River. Have fished the Subbury, but never the Concord. 🙂

      1. Beautiful river.

When I’m there I always imagine the many writers and thinkers of Concord in the 19th century who surely must have enjoyed the river scenery.

        1. Well, I have certainly seen the Concord. To me it is very similar to the Charles, except wider and perhaps deeper.

Neponset , Sudbury, Charles and Concord all similar.
Concord is the largest, then the Charles, then Sudbury then Neponset,

Fished all but Concord. 🙂 Al beautiful in their own right.

            1. FYI the location I crossed the Concord River was Lowell Street, just after the merging of Assabet & Sudbury Rivers. The ice spanned about half the river on its southern bank to mid river. It was not very thick but still pretty substantial.

            2. Lovely photo. Close family friends had a home with that view. Although it could have been across the line in wellesley.

  6. Weather along coast near Tallahassee where astronauts are landing looks okay to me. Skies looking clear. Splashdown just before 6 PM. Probably on every TV station.

    1. It should be.

They’re real heroes, in my view.

What an ordeal they’ve been through. Yet they maintained their professionalism and composure.

  7. I’m issuing a beautiful sunset watch for eastern areas, especially I-95 eastward, around 7:00 p.m.

Will depend on exact positioning of the cloud deck at that time. If it’s further east, you can sometimes get really nice color OPPOSITE the sun, to the east, for a short while. So if the edge of the cloud deck appears too much overhead, look to the east in case there are no clouds to your west to illuminate. 🙂

      1. Thanks for the tip TK! My sunset view was the most spectacular thus far since moving here. It started quite pretty in the east, then absolutely spectacular in the west as the sun sunk below the horizon. Just as you predicted it would. Thanks again! 🙂
