DAYS 1-5 (MARCH 21-25)
Our early spring weather pattern is going to feature more chilly than mild weather, and an active pattern bringing frequent disturbances through, but no major storms. One such system is passing by now as low pressure forms along a passing front. While it does intensify as it moves away, the bands of rain with it will taper off, maybe as some mix / wet snow in interior higher elevations, during this morning. A drying / clearing trend commences this afternoon, leading to a fair and chilly night, with gusty winds at first this afternoon and evening, which will settle down overnight as the low moves further away. No big changes to the weekend outlook. Saturday is the milder of the 2 days ahead of a trough and cold front. A brief rain shower as the front passes by Saturday evening and even a follow up snow flurry potential as colder air arrives overnight. This leads to a fair, blustery, chilly Sunday with a healthy northwesterly air flow. But on things move fairly quickly and the next storm system brings more precipitation for Monday. Enough cold air may be present for this to start as wet snow especially northern and interior sections, before it evolves to a rain event. Behind it comes more chilly air with a few rain / snow showers possible Tuesday.
TODAY: Cloudy morning with rain possibly ending as mix and/or snow, especially interior higher elevations. Partly sunny with a passing light rain or snow shower possible afternoon. Temperatures steady 38-45, may fall slightly. Wind N to NW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.
TONIGHT: Clearing. Lows 26-33. Wind NW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY: Sunny morning. Clouds arrive afternoon – late-day rain shower possible. Highs 55-62. Wind NW shifting to SW 5-15 MPH, a few higher gusts.
SATURDAY NIGHT: Variably cloudy. A passing rain shower possible evening. A passing snow shower possible overnight. Lows 33-40. Wind SW shifting to NW 5-15 MPH, higher gusts.
SUNDAY: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs 45-52. Wind NW 10-20 MPH, higher gusts.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Increasing clouds. Lows 30-37. Wind NW 5-15 MPH, diminishing.
MONDAY: Overcast. Rain likely, may begin as snow in some areas, especially north and west of Boston. Highs 38-45. Wind NE 5-15 MPH.
MONDAY NIGHT: Overcast. Rain tapers off. Areas of fog. Temperatures steady 38-45 or may rise slightly. Wind variable 5-15 MPH.
TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy. A passing rain/snow shower possible. Highs 40-47. Wind NW 15-25 MPH.
DAYS 6-10 (MARCH 26-30)
Continued unsettled pattern with near to below normal temperatures. Precipitation events may include some mix/snow, depending on track/locations. March 26 and 28 are the 2 more likely days for these systems.
DAYS 11-15 (MARCH 31 – APRIL 4)
Cool and unsettled pattern continues heading out of March and into the beginning of April.
Thanks TK.
Good morning and thank you TK.
Morning random thought
Why is it when one drops a pill on the floor it disappears??????
So true !!
Hahahahahahaha. It goes to the same place one sock hides in the dryer. Or if you are old enough, to the place Tupperware lids go.
Thanks TK !
Thanks, TK.
JP Dave, pills do indeed disappear once you drop them on the floor. Just like socks disappear in the dryer, as Jerry Seinfeld once pointed out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY-VPcEZFEk
Love it. Reading down so didn’t see your answer
Thanks TK.

I think I just had a brief mix of rain and snow.
We’re at 43 here and it looks to be just plain ole rain.
Mixed briefly in Reading.
I wondered about that when I looked out the window before I went to breakfast and saw the downpour but I figured “nah” temps way too warm for that.
If it’s cold enough just above, it’ll happen.
Pete really got slammed on the first two pages of yesterday’s Boston Herald hard copy and online. I hope NBC-10 doesn’t discipline or fire him over his recent comments on the splashdown.
I’m not surprised it was the herald. I hope he doesn’t also.
Thanks, TK!
As most of you know, left-handed pitcher Sean Newcomb is my former student at Middleborough High. I taught him freshman Spanish in 2007.
Sean was released by Oakland at the end of last season. He was invited to join the Red Sox as a non-roster player for this year’s spring training. The great news is that he could be the Sox’s fifth starter in the rotation. He’s had a great spring!
He has a spring training ERA of 0.63 and started last night’s game against the Twins. He went 4.2 innings and gave up three hits and no earned runs. He struck out three. He really looked good (the game was on NESN) and definitely did not hurt his chances of making the team when the BoSox open in Texas on Thursday!
AWESOME news!!! Thanks
Wow. This is awesome. Thank you for sharing. As Mac would say, your buttons must be bursting.
That’s impressive! I hope he makes the team.
Good luck to him !
Fabulous!
Thank you, TK.
Some wind now. Up to 41 from an overnight low of 40
(That’s not impressive. Hope you at least have a bit of sun.)
Still deep in the clouds. But dry.
Thanks, TK.
Two nights ago, I watched (for the umpteenth time) Guess Who’s Coming to dinner. If you have not seen it, I sure would recommend. If you have, it is a wonderful rewatch. Watching Tracy and Hepburn together for the last time is moving all on its own. But the final speech by Tracy is fantastic. It is always difficult for me to believe that it was released in 1967…same year I graduated high school
Just took the trash out.
It is 44 with the wind howling! it feels like the dead of Winter.
I Loathe March weather like this!!!)*@#(*#)(*!@)(#*)(!@*#)(!*)#(
Wind seems to be a constant this month. Do you see it becoming less of a factor in the weeks ahead? Thanks
Loving today’s weather. Clouds stayed dominant into the first half of the afternoon as I expected them too, but now we’re in a clearing trend, but it’s a bit of a process, especially for eastern areas.
As you know, I don’t mind wind / cold. And March, despite being loathed by many, is a favorite month of mine. With time I’ve come to love every part of seasonal transition.
CPC still leaning chilly / wet late March / early April. I concur. And the answer is, “no, it’s not time to say that yet.”
Captain Fantastic: I heard a song today (on a playlist I made) called “Captain Splendid” (maybe your long lost cousin haha). It was released on an album in 1997 by a band called “Kara’s Flowers”. Album title: “The Fourth World”. *** TRIVIA *** Can anybody tell me, without cheating, what the band “Kara’s Flowers” changed its name to for the next release in the early 2000s? Hint: Kara’s Flowers started out with 4 members. The new edition of the band had 5 for a long while, and currently has 7.
No Clue.
Now that I Answered honestly, I looked it up. I am in shock!
WOW!!! I have seen that band twice, once in Las Vegas and once at Mohegan Sun.
Quite the performers!
I have seen them at Fenway (just a few years ago). Great show.
At Mohgsan Sun, we saw them on New Years eve and they did a rendtion of Neil Young’s rockn in the free world. What a job and the guy who does lead vocals was shredding it on lead guitar. what a talent!!!
of course lyrics changed to rockn in the new year.
TK, here is the question to your answer above:
Is winter over?

Ha ha ha …
We know how it can go around here. It’s funny though how there are always people who seem like they feel the need to teach me about it. No need. I definitely understand how weather and climate work.
We sure do know how it goes. And you, my friend, certainly understand how weather works.
Thank you
New post…
