  1. Thanks TK and glad to hear your feeling better !!

To our west-northwest, there is a cluster of tall cumulus clouds, where the tops of one of them have been blown off to the east a bit. Then, there’s clear sky from overhead to the eastern horizon because of the seabreeze. Pretty neat looking.

  2. Thanks from me also TK and am also sorry you are not feeling well.

Tom I’ve been watching those clouds – they are very cool!!

What do you mean though by one has blown off to the east? Does it have something to do with the cell I see over the Weymouth area right now? I have not heard that term on here and find it interesting. Thanks!

    1. Hi Vicki.

I’m thinking it might be the cell in Weymouth……and, it looks like the cloud got tall enough to reach a height where there is some wind to spread the cloud out to the east…….

Sometimes when a severe line of storms is approaching southern New England and they are still fairly far to the west, have you ever noticed the sky cloud over locallywith milky white and then thicker high cloudiness ? Thats an example of what I’m seeing on a much smaller scale down here.

      1. Thank you, Tom. Let’s see if I understand. Earlier this week ahead of the front I kept seeing a milky sky and then darker clouds. Then the front came through.

          1. I’m trying to Remember too. I think it was last thurs when we had the severe warnings and nothing came of it. So that would mean it isn’t what you explained.

        1. Of course, the only problem with the seabreeze idea is that Marshfield’s ob has jumped to 88F the last hour and a half with a southwest wind.

  3. Thanks, TK, and I hope you feel better soon.

I’m out to meet a friend. I am hoping that it doesn’t thunder tomorrow, ‘though I guess there is a chance it will. Tomorrow is my birthday. 🙂 We may go out to dinner tomorrow night, we will see.

    1. Happy Birthday Rainshine – I had your special day on my calendar. Will you go someplace special for dinner?

    1. I got one great view of that entire storm’s life cycle as I drove from Woburn to 93N then 95N. Around Topsfield got some big drops of rain coming out of the anvil as the storm was raining itself out just west of the highway. No lightning visible at that point, but back in Woburn there was thunder audible as the storm was to the NW. I took some great cloud photos today on a trip to and from Barrington NH between 3:15PM and 6:45PM.

      1. Ugh TK. Glad you got to see all of that but it’s a lot of running around when you don’t feel well 🙁

  4. The last 10 to 15 minutes were fun !! Got to watch those cells intensify as they went just to our north. About the only thing it didnt do was rain and we got a couple good thunder claps as it made its closest pass.

  5. Thanks, Tom and Vicki for the birthday wishes. We haven’t decided yet where we’re going (it’s my choice – probably Italian – I love Italian food).

I just got back from meeting a friend. I saw some tall cumulus clouds as I was driving north. I looked at doppler radar and all I see are some storms moving east in Southern NH. I can’t see how those clouds as I was approaching Wayland would be from NH – unless they are really big thundertorms in NH.

    1. There’s a restaurant in auburndale newton called Bella Boca. We had dinner there the other night. As you know mac lived in Rome for years so tends to be picky. This is one of a few we go to that is as close to real Italian as you get in the US. The owner/chef was singing a lovely melodious song from the open kitchen in Italian as we ate. Prices are reasonable also.

  6. So far it appears that Monday is the best chance for thunderstorms and from what I have read, they are likely to be quite severe. I don’t plan to be outdoors much on that day.

    1. It’s my youngests bday. She was hoping to head to Humarock for a picnic lunch. Guess not. 🙁

    1. My daughter told me that today. I’m sure I’ve always said we think of my mom when there is a crescent moon. She called it Gods fingernail. All three of my grandkids were born under a crescent moon :). The day we arrive in Humarock which is a huge part of my mom there is a crescent moon. Out last night there is a blue moon.

Yep I got carried away with my stories again :\

    2. I am most certainly looking forward to August 31st as well…the last day of climatological summer. Much of the HHH and thunder storm days will be behind us by then. I want to be able to wear a jacket outside in public again. I do wear one when I am at the movies or at the supermaket frozen sections. 🙂

A number of years ago, one very hot day I didn’t bring a jacket to the store and shortly thereafter I got quite sick for two weeks. I never want that to happen ever again. I never could take too much A/C as wonderful as it feels.
      🙁

        1. you saying that reminds me that college is around the corner ,technically i only have 2 more weeks of summer that i have to do nothing then its band camp. durring that week let the clouds set in. with highs in the low 80s with no humidity. but no rain. just for that week. though, watch it be the hottest streatch of summer we have all year since i said this.

      1. Philip there was a time taking vacation so late in the summer seemed silly but whe we get home as you said its time to start looking forward to fall and then the holidays – my favorite time of the year.

And keep wearing those jackets. We don’t want you sick !!

        1. The interesting part of that particular day is that I wasn’t in the store no more than maybe 10 minutes or so. I only picked up a very few items, nothing heavy. I started gettting sick a couple days later, so I came to the conclusion the A/C was the cause. Maybe I picked up some strange virus?

With temps well into the 90’s that A/C felt real good though. 😉

          1. Stores are known to be loaded with viruses. I carry a bottle of hand sanitizer. But going in and out of AC is hard on the body too.

  7. The Red Sox lose yet again…this team is going absolutely nowhere. 🙁

Why do fans continue to fill up Fenway?
