12:45AM
The storm responsible for wind, rain, and snow the past couple of days is on its way out. Other than a leftover brisk breeze today, tranquil weather will be the rule through the start of the next week. Only an interruption of cloudiness will occur at some point over the weekend as warmer air pushes into the region. The warmest day of the stretch will be Monday. Tuesday, clouds and a shower threat exist as a cold front moves in, and the middle of next week looks fair and chilly.

TK, thanks for the quick update. I like that 70 degree forecast!
Late in the year for it, but there is a Cape Verde low (which will NOT develop into anything let alone make it across the pond).
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
Well the EURO doesnt show it developing, so it wont develop 😉
Thanks TK. Hope you feeling well!
Wonder how may times it’s snowed several inches, and then reach 70 degrees a few days later? I know it’s common in April, but not so sure about November. Is it not a little late in the season for Indian Summer temps?
Thanks, TK.
Nice to see the sun. Just some patches of snow left in Sudbury.
This naming of winter storms now is not only silly but bad – what, are they going to start to name tornadoes, thunderstorms? Ok, so hurricanes have had names for a long time. But to continue naming every weather incident, major or minor (and I believe every weather incident is major in some way) isn’t right. Just my opinion. 🙂
I was glad to see the mets around here called the latest storm just what it was – a northeaster.
Good morning all,
Yawn….
Compared to all of the recent excitement, today is a Boring weather day.
Ho Hum.
Go Pats on Sunday!
Beautiful weekend, mild sunny 😉
The guy is coming to mow my lawn and do leaf cleanup,, perfect timing!!
I’ve decided we are never going to lose all of our leaves. Husband and SIL will do them again this weekend. We have a service in the spring so don’t do some of the edges in fall 🙂
Going to the Patriots game and its gonna be sunny and 65-70 degrees, just perfect weather 🙂
JEALOUS!!!
awwww – have fun – I’m jealous too!
Thanks TK…looking good for a long weekend!
Latest HPC 8-14 Day Outlook:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/814day/
I was looking back at old blogs post from back in Dec/Jan/Feb of 2010-2011 and loving hearing Blizzard conditions and heavy snow 🙂
It always seems to amaze me that just 36hrs there were little piles of snow everywhere and 3.4 inches of snow on ground and now it looks like it never happened 🙂
There reporting a lot of customers that plow truck drivers plowed r saying they never came and not gonna pay the bill
I think this has to be from maybe people coming home maybe from out of town to no snow and r like I’m not paying, kinda weird
Hello all,
Check this out from Matt Noyes:

Thank you, OS! Fascinating and beautiful!
Thank you for both links.
OS Thank you – very interesting
I couldn’t see what day the photo was taken – It says he received the photo nov 3. I saw a really odd cloud on Nov 2. I only remember it because it was the anniversary of my brother’s death and he was as interested in the weather as I am so it made me think of him. It was not dissimilar to this cloud but I may have been being a bit fanciful
You are very welcome. Sorry to hear about your brother.
Thanks you! I thought I’d imagined an odd cloud last week but now maybe I didn’t!
The NAO looks positive for the about the next two weeks then goes negative around or just after Thanksgiving for the end of the month. This is good timing to do raking and other final projects around the house. Maybe we get our first widespread snow last few days of November/first days of December? 🙂
Looks like a roller coaster on the NAO outlook page.
Philip,
You didn’t think that Wednesday PM/Evening snow was pretty widespread??
Lol
OS…it didn’t snow from much of the South Shore to Cape. We very much lucked out that it snowed in the I-95 corridor IMHO. 😉
Sure. Understand that.
I saw about 4 inches in my yard, so I guess that was
widespread to me.
Just giving you a hard time. lol
So you mean all over Southern New England??
It’s coming at some point.
My definition of widespread snow around here is when the rain/snow line is no closer than the Canal. Actually on radar it was raining up and down the Maine coast while the landmass was snowing.
A sharp rain/snow line to say the least. 😉
I should say so!!!
When I left my office in Roxbury at 5PM Wednesday it was raining (had been snowing) with a bit of snow mixed in.
By the time I drove a few thousand feet
home, it was ALL snow.
it was less than 1 inch in billerica, im now calling the merrimack valley the snow killer valley, Its usually to cold or to warm or the storm is to far south to give us anything.
12Z GFS clobbers all of NE with rain to snow thanksgiving weekend. Fact or fiction.
Well, this is 348 hours out from 7AM this morning! Hmm let me see…
GFS, 348 hours out…..I’d say PURE FICTION!!!!
Let’s see if it’s still around when we get to 240 hours and the Euro is available.

Sorry. That was the whole loop. This is the 348 hour frame:

Interesting OS – If I read correctly, It’d sure mess up a lot of travel plans.
Don’t lose any sleep over it. That is 14 1/2 days out. Often times, the models can’t get it right a day or 2 out.
It will just be interesting to watch run after run to see if it is still there.
I’d wager it goes poof on the next run.
I really enjoy watching the models and how they change. Thank you for your links as always!!
Old salty how much of the 4 inches u got left, I got nothing left here in the plainville area
Nothing!! At lunch time there were a couple of small piles on a side
street that was plowed. That was about it. Grass is totally bare ground.
For 2nd day in a row, I believe, the EURO at the end of its long range outlook is signaling an area of low pressure retrograding towards the east coast, as it slowly deepens, with a high north of New England and a pretty good pressure gradient developing.
Here is one view of the surface map at 240 hours:

IF this were to ever verify, it would certainly rain here, but NJ would get
it yet again.
Well, only the 2nd and 4th link work! But you get the idea.
Sorry. I don’t even know what happened.
Hey TK, is there anyway you can give us a mechanism to
DELETE a post should we screw it up, or have second thoughts
about what we may have posted? OR even a way to EDIT a post?
Many thanks
Hmmm
I wonder IF the Euro is picking up on the remnants of the
possible tropical system the NHC is discussing now?
Maybe so.
As I was reviewing my winter forcast, apparently the week el Nino that many thought would arrive this winter including myself has been pretty much called off.
I don’t how good this guy is, but I found the discussion interesting.
PLEASE NOTE: the end of the discussion where he talks about an EAST COAST
TROUGH.
http://www.jimmunleywx.com/longrange.html
Make that the middle of the discussion. The end of the discussion concerns El Nino or lack thereof.
Satellite loop of our Nor’easter the other day:

Like the loop a lot Old Salty ! Thanks !!
You’re welcome!
OS… I can delete any post you like. Just give me the time of it and I’ll do it when I get to each round of admin. Sometimes it takes me a while to get there depending on how busy may day has been. 🙂
Tk, Thanks. I understood that already. I was looking for a way to quickly edit/delete a post. For example, a ways above I placed some links in a post that didn’t work. I would have loved to beeen able to either edit that post so they worked or deleted it and posted a new one that worked.
No big deal. Just trying to make the reading/viewing of posts easier.
Many thanks
Hmmm as far as I know once you post something the only way it can be deleted is if you have admin access. I guess we’re back to the old fashioned method again. 😉
I have no control over the quirks of WordPress. 😀
OK, here’s another article on the Climate Change issue. I apologize if it has been
posted here in the past. First I have seen of it and it is opposite of my view on the subject, so I found it facinating.
http://www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars/2011/02/joe-bastardi-explains-why-the-cold-miser-is-winning-the-climate-change-showdown
Breaking Patriots news:
Brandon Bolden of the New England Patriots has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.
I guess some people just don’t get it.
And sadly it’s possible he never will
Who is he.
Running back
Odd. Big fan never heard of him. Thanks.
I think 🙂
Ur right Vicki, running back. He had one good game but has been injured since. I don’t think he was going to see much of the field anyways this year
What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and to think the running game was improving. god dam
Now I think we know WHY his running game was improving. 🙂
He should blame it on global warming.
Just met Todd Gutner from BZ at the Ski show in Boston. He’s way too tan to be a snowlover 🙂 I’ll be here selling tickets all weekend! Hope Melissa Mack is at the booth 🙂
Cool. Have fun!
Acemaster…I don’t believe Todd or Melissa are really snow lovers. The young mets these days don’t seem to like any weather related to winter. I don’t get it.
I have noticed that they always kiss up to the newscasters who like nothing but summer all the time if they could have it their way. 🙁
I remember the late Don Kent would have that “twinkle” in his eye when a potential snowstorm was on the wx maps…and later the models. 😉
Wow fun. It’s been many years since I went to the ski show. I used to love it. Son got a great price on his equipment there last year. Have to remind him its in town
First time in 7 years i will not be able to go , I usually talk To Barry Burbank 🙁
Vicki, I saw you recorded my snowfall from yesterday. Thanks!
Cool Ace!!
You should tell him to post here.
Put me down for 30 inches for logan airport.
im thinking Below normal for Boston points south and east. near to below normal eastern half of the state, near to above normal western half.
I have it Matt
Does anyone know the conditons of southwest ct? im going there tomorrow and sunday for the last marching band compition of the season so im just wondering
Not sure Matt. They ended up with a lot of snow this week, but like here it may have melted quite a bit. Good luck!
Thanks
A lot of the snow is gone down there. The November sun really went to work on the snow Thursday and especially yesterday.
Don’t forget to get your snowfall guesses for Logan Airport in Boston to Vicki by the end of the day Thursday November 15!
I’m issuing my long range forecast for winter that day, along with my predicted snowfall total for Boston.
HINT: It’s between 0.1 inch and 99.9 inches. 😉 HAHAHAHAHA
So there is a possibility that you think this was it this week!
Possible, but not likely. The earliness in November makes me wonder though. Though the odds of that correlation wiping out the snow season 2 years in a row is minimal. It’s never happened that I am aware of.
One thing that has occurred however is back to back below normal snow seasons (quite often in the past). That factors in slightly to my thinking, though I give much more weight to current and predicted statuses of each climate index.
LOL! I think its safe to say were going to get more than the 9.3 inches we had last winter.
This morning’s NWS Discussion is getting interesting. They are concerned for next weekend that with a combo of a tropical wave, a trough in the central U.S. and -NAO a significant storm could get going along the east coast.
I absolutely agree on the -NAO but what about the other players?
TK, is there any serious potential for this to all come together?
Yes. I am “slightly” concerned this far out. But needless to say, things can always change.
The blog is updated. I have a few replies here to comments from last evening in case you want to check before hopping over to the new post!
was expecting to get the rest of the leaf collecting done tomorrow – not looking good at the moment. Still a solid 2″ on the ground. I don’t even have any green spots yet. Ugggghhhhh!
Low sun angle! If this were February, that snow would have vanished by now.
