Hi everyone and a special hi to any new readers!! The updates here will be getting more regular during the next couple weeks – not just updated forecasts for the Boston area but other topics as well. Please feel free to comment on anything or ask any weather-related questions! I’ll do my best to answer (or just tell you to google it, just kidding!).
A quick update on the coming “storm” if you want to call it that. Still in line to do what is indicated in the last forecast update. Most of the snow in the Boston area will fall between 7pm this evening & mid to late morning Thursday. I have a 1 to 4 inch accumulation range but most places will end up with under 3 inches. The snow just doesn’t appear to have a chance to fall hard enough at the right time for a long enough time. And with relatively warm pavements, even less snow will accumulate there (pretty much none at all on highways and major roads). So again, we have a minor impact event on our hands, but regardless, please use caution if you will be out, especially walking on slushy surfaces, later this evening through tomorrow morning.
I’ll post a new forecast for the remainder of this week and looking into early next week in the next update later this evening! Quick hint: I think the next storm threat early to middle of next week may remain offshore, but should be watched anyway. And the chilly and potentially stormy pattern may continue into the opening days of April as well.
Thanks Brian!
Hi Brian,
Nice to have a peaceful place to discuss weather. Hope others from BZ will join in. I also think not much will happen tonight. I wrote yesterday my thoughts about the PV shunting the storm south. It’s also really tearing apart as it makes it here.
Light snow/sleet here in JP just starting.
You’re welcome, Coastal!
Hadi… Nothing here in Woburn yet. This thing is having trouble. I don’t think most places see over 1 inch on the grass from this one, as it stands now. Too dry down near the ground. You can feel it just standing outside.
I guess I should say not light snow , but more a couple of flakes flying. I think this storm if you want to call it that will be barley anything.
Brian,
Any thoughts you can share with me about Orlando weather starting 4/1 through 4/8? Thx.
Well it looks like it may start out a bit rocky down there the 1st weekend of April as a trough translates through the SE. If we stay with mainly negative NAO, the ridge can’t really rebuild there. Someone I work with is driving down there for 2 weeks in early April. We’ll have to see how strong this pattern holds. A flip back to a positive NAO, with La Nina still going, would put them right back into warm/dry weather.
My wife is freaking out bc we need nice weather, in laws are coming to help with the baby and need nice pool weather:)
alright, good to see everyone over here ! Hadi, check out WESH…which is a local TV station in Orlando. Has a good weather page with a 7 day outlook and other weather information.
I’m certainly not trying to replace WBZ’s blog. But it’s nice to be able to come here when you-know-who is on the loose. I really thought by now they’d have gotten bored and gone somewhere else, but I guess not…
I still feel that we will see a fairly steady 3-hour period of snow prior to dawn, but this is certainly not going to be anything significant.
I can’t handle what’s going on the BZ site. They are going to lose people unless they do something about it.
Thanks Brian!! I have a bad feeling about the weather down there.
Thx Tom I sill check it out.
Brian we should give your blog to some people on BZ but not sure how to do it. Don’t want people to come here and stir trouble. Also don’t want to piss BZ off either:)
Coastal is taking care of it for the moment… 🙂
Good.
Hi guys, good to have a troll free blog for once.
I wrote this earlier today on the WBZ blog, seems to be verifying.
dew points are in the teens currently, and the temp contrast is well south of us, which will allow the low to go well south of us. with that said, and the ground is relatively mild, i don’t think we will see more than 2 inches. higher elevations could see closer to 3.
This is great, thank you for letting me in. Not much going on here in Pembroke just really light snow. So do we just come here now to chat, or still go to bz as well. Again thank’s for the invite.
I wouldn’t stop going to WBZ. Not trying to replace it. Just have a place to go anytime you want, especially when troll-boy is on the loose.
I’ll be checking back from time to time. Have company. No snow yet in Woburn…
Thank’s for stepping up, and again thankyou for the invite.
John I will still go to BZ. Once winter is over the trolls will be gone. But when they are out in full force at least we can talk here.
When Tom, Brian and I met we thought it was the same two or three people posting under different names.
Nothing here in JP. Looking at radar it is only virga.
Hey Hadi- this is awesome. I as well will still post on bz, though I may not post as much when summer comes. I will still blog on and off. Yea not much going on here either. Started with big flakes now just kind of spitting. Brian seems to think snow will pick up later, but not a big deal at all. This conversation now seems so much better, do not havto worry about a troll.
