The next 7 days will be a contrast, starting out with cold/damp weather and ending with a taste of summer, after a cold upper level low pressure finally gives way to a building ridge of high pressure.
Unfortunately, about half of the Memorial Day Weekend will be damp and chilly under the influence of a closed off upper level low and associated surface storm, but improvement will come thereafter as this low lifts out to the northeast. A building high pressure ridge takes over after that, but the advancing warmer air will probably result in a period of clouds and possible showers at some point during the middle of next week.

Thanks TK. Funny last post you made on the last blog! Snow on May 25th, there is always potential!
Todayβs AccuWeather Trivia Quiz.
What is NOT a name for the May full moon?
A. Flower
B. Rose
C. Strawberry
D. Pink
Answer later today. By the way I think is might be “super” moon month where the moon gets closest to Earth.
C
I think the super moon is June …..in honor of my birthday of course although almost a week late ;). Not positive.
June 23
Yep just shy of a week late but ill give the solar system credit for a great attempt π
Well today looks yucky. Might not reach 50 degrees, on and off rain, snow in the Green Mtns and a temp of 46 at Fenway for the start of the game.
Memorial Day looking OK. (family bbq)
As for this coming Friday, some TV mets put the 90 degree mark up on the screen, but I tend to think TK is closer with a high of 81.
After a few wet days, even though the long term deficit remains, the top soil would be moist, which would make it harder to get too hot so quickly.
it would make it extrememly humid and cause thunderstorms ?
Still need triggers…
Thanks TK. We have gone from Florida weather to now Seattle weather.
For the trivia I will go with D.
Thanks TK. I roared laughing with me and other me discussion.
I also laughed when I heard snow in the forecast π
I’m sorry. Properly worded I should have said…..potential for snow in the forecast
Of course I didn’t really mention “the ‘s’ word” in my forecast because any snow that would fall would take place outside of “The Official Woods Hill Weather Forecast Area” .. but that’s ok. π
and wouldn’t accumulate π
Hey arod. How are you and you took longer to get here than I thought. But its good to see you. I hope you are having a good spring π
killingtion has reported 3-6 inches of snow 1 to 2 inches at the base
Wow. I love it
If Ted Williams came back to life and Carlton Fisk came to town and they both offered me a ticket to sit between them in this, I’d tell them….no thanks guys.
If Ted came back to life Hed be here visiting us after the game and I’d invite you all to join us. Only met fisk once but I bet he’d follow Ted π
Spent a whole day once with Fisk as a kid – really nice guy.
Spent a whole day once with Clemens too who was a total jerky jock.
Another super guy I spent some time with too was Bill Buckner.
Getting pretty cold out here. Will check for some snowflakes later?
Wow. How did you get to spend a day with him? Ted used to invite players around my age to go to dinner when we would go out with him after a game when he was in town with the rangers/senators. Not as a date cause often they could be married but just so I had younger company. Fisk was one.
How did you spend time with Buckner. I always thought he was unfairly criticized. Ted could go on and on about that as he blamed the media and as everyone knows he had little respect for the media
Clemens lived in framingham. He and his wife are jerks. Rich Gedman lives or lives in town and did so much for the schools, etc. I never met either.
It seems lately there is always a shot of unusually chilly air (albeit brief) just prior to Memorial Day weekend or as is the case this year, on the actual weekend itself. Back when I was a kid in the 1960’s/70’s (other than 1977 and maybe a Mother’s Day here and there) I don’t recall even seeing my breath early mornings during the month of May…maybe I am remembering wrong.
I remember a bitter June in 1982. Before or around that I don’t recall any and sure I have forgotten. Also this time into June two years ago was Seattle like…..although husband keeps saying London.
Interesting article on the Atlantic hurricane season and upgrades to hwrf model.

nice last post on the other blog . hilarious. my friend is up in maine currently at her log cabin up in the mountains and he says its snowing
This is a MUST READ, the most fascinating, detailed and educational piece I have
ever read about tornadoes. Truly Awesome:
Here is something I found about the Moore, Ok Tornado from: GeoEnvironmental Atmosphere.
As promised, here is the Case Study concerning the EF-5 Tornado that impacted Moore, Oklahoma and surrounding areas. This contains professional images, radar archives, and more. No matter if you are a practicing meteorologist, a weather enthusiast, or someone that wants to learn a bit more about tornadoes and thunderstorms, this case study is for you. Also, we have given a hypothesis to why the tornado intensified so rapidly. Enjoy, and please share this post.
Note: This is a very large webpage to load, so please allow 10 seconds or more to completely load and begin interacting with the elements.
http://geoea.org/2013/05/23/moore-oklahoma-ef-5-tornado-case-study/
I read half and will continue to read. Great link
My SIL was telling me about DuPont storm rooms. They are above ground and built into the house or garage. He couldn’t find prices but the rarings and reviews he read were exceptional.
I can’t believe the odds in your link of having a tornado that size hit in the same place and yet it did in Moore. Awful
Krug – is that his name – is making quite a name for himself I’d the conversation I’m hearing from the other room is an indication
42 degrees with a 41 dP. .32 in rain so far today. I don’t think we’ve had an inch combined. Wind can be quite gusty. Kind of a nice, wanna curl up and read night. I am thinking of starting a fire. I am not turning the heat on π
Like my dad says, this kind of weather is called population control, we have family and friends in town and the friends changed there flight from Mon to Sun bc of it, every time I hear them on the phone talking to family back where there from I can hear him saying how they’ve been here since Thu and haven’t seen the sun and keeps saying how he’s never seen such ugly weather for almost June and is ready to come home, comes off as a jerk but how can you disagree, just to much crappy weather to sustain a happy human, goodnight π
Wow. You’d think we’d had this weather for weeks on end.
We’ve had one of the best weather Springs in the last 3 decades, we get into a crappy pattern for a few days in late May and nobody can handle it.
Almost amusing. π
I agree
I sure agree
Well I thought last year was phenomenal also for spring weather

Answer to today’s Accuweather Trivia Quiz.
What is NOT a name for the May full moon?
A. Flower
B. Rose
C. Strawberry
D. Pink
The answer is D, Pink.
Hmmm i thought the strawberry moon is a June moon and will be June 23 also the super moon.
Although I thought rose was also a name for the strawberry moon so now I’m confused.
Should have said I thought that cause a Rose is the traditional flower for the month of June
NOAA predicts a busy Atlantic hurricane season.
“For the six-month hurricane season, which begins June 1, NOAAβs Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook says there is a 70 percent likelihood of 13 to 20 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 7 to 11 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 3 to 6 major hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5; winds of 111 mph or higher).”

Hi everyone!
I didn’t mind wearing a sweatshirt and jacket today π I loved the drizzly weather. Rain is so soothing, though it makes me sleepy haha
People are having snowball fights in Vermont tonight. π
You and the other you ;).
Emily I didnt mind the day either. I’m listening to the rain on the skylight now and love the sound
I love falling asleep to it. I love when it gets really loud. I can sleep right through it surprisingly!
Tweet @MattNoyesNECN
hey Matt, I just looked outside and it is snowing like crazy here in Pembroke NH
some of my friends are going up to killingtion . they left tonight and are going to hit the slop early tomorrow morning
so yeah its 38 degrees here in billerica
Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz.
Which storm does NOT belong with the others?
A. Hurricane
B. Tornado
C. Cyclone
D. Typhoon
Answer later today.
“B”, but I have heard the term Cyclone used to refer to a Tornado and also a hurricane, so is this a trick question? π
Ill go with B also
I think the quiz creators are fooling us this weekend as I don’t understand yesterday’s either. Unless there is no full moon in either April or June thereby making it possible for flower (April) to fall in may or strawberry (June) to also fall in may. That’s all I can think of.
I am going with B.
Big changes look to take places later this week with highs getting up well in the 80s by late week. Watching Wednesday with a thunderstorm threat with the warm front that will usher in this warm and humid air late week into the weekend.
Much better out there today. Yesterday was miserable.
BRUINS get it done. Where did they ever find that kin, Tory Krug???
I think he is a KEEPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
π
SIL said he wasn’t drafted (is that correct term) because he’s too short so bruins grabbed him. He said the puck comes off his stick so fast its amazing. I’m parroting since I know NOTHING about hockey
I have learned that hockey playoffs seem to last an entire year π
This year they’ll be as long as the regular season was. π
And yes, “undrafted” is the correct term. π
Hehe. This kid has even caught the attention of non hockey fans.
From Weei.com:
Krug also played on a huge college hockey stage at Michigan State and elected to sign with the Bruins on March 25, 2012 season because he knew the possibilities.
Cool. SIL said he had a great college record. Tx OS
My answer is B (Tornado)
Pleasantly surprised to wake to the sun this morning. Brrr! it sure is chilly.
It maybe chilly but as long as the sun is out I am happy. Were going into a summer pattern late week into next weekend.
I had my doubts about the Euro’s stalling of this system at a latitude that would have carbon copied yesterday onto today and possibly even part of tomorrow.
The GFS again performed better with the lifting out of the low enough so that we get on the back side. Yes it’s still windy and very chilly for late May, but we’re on the dry-out now and it won’t take long for the warm air to come in behind this thing once it lifts out of here.
Working on The Week Ahead and posting it early today because I will be watching the Indy 500 with my son then taking him and our friends Emily (yes the one that posts here) and Lynda (the silent co-admin of my WHW Facebook page) and going to Hampton Beach for the first visit late this afternoon and then over to Manchester for Alley Cat Pizza and a big fireworks display off the Bridge Street bridge above the Merrimack (synchronized to music on Rock 101 WGIR). It’s an all-day event that ends with that display. Hoping that the wind settles down and they don’t have to postpone until tomorrow. But if they do I’ll be there anyway. π Don’t think the next series for the Bruins will begin before Tuesday.
Have fun TK. Sounds like a great day
