Self Destructive Sunshine. Hmmm Sounds ominous.

It certainly is.
Here’s a scary thought.

Venus is also just a touch closer to the sun, which gives her a bit of a disadvantage. 😉
Certainly true and discussed in the article. 😀
I saw. Nicely written article. 🙂
Interesting article thanks OS
Thanks TK and a very happy 90th to your dad.
Hope everyone is well and enjoying this beautiful Sunday!
Spent the morning pulling weeds, and a perfect morning it was for gardening or just about anything else! Nice break from the heat and humidity.
Thanks for all the updates TK!
We did the same and its nice to see you here. Have a great day!!
Hello everyone…. I wanted to check in before I leave for Virginia tomorrow. Its been a hectic 24 hours with a problem with the bathroom creating water issues in the bathroom that got on to part of my carpets.
Enough about me. Its look like a nice early September preview Monday and Tuesday. I hope everyone has a good week!
Sorry to hear that JJ. Hope all is well before you leave tomorrow.
JJ I am sorry to hear about your bathroom problems. Isn’t it always the way before you head out for vacation. Enjoy and I hope the weather is perfect and you have a great time. We will miss you !!
Enjoy your vacation JJ….safe travels!
Line of storms approaching the Boston Area. Doesn’t appear to be any severe cells
at the moment.
Just started raining here. A nice soft rain
It’s a very broken line now, more likely a scattered line.
Wind picking up. Very nice.
And it went poof
Looks like another pooforama! 😀
Sure was. Not even enough rain to be beneficial.
Can anyone explain what the term “sub-severe” means in the following from the NWS earlier?
MAIN THREATS:
BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS…FREQUENT LIGHTNING AND GUSTY WINDS WITH
STRONGER STORMS. GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH POSSIBLE. LOW CONFIDENCE ON
HAIL POTENTIAL…WILL BE ISOLATED TO STRONGEST OF STORMS WHICH
SHOULD REMAIN SUB-SEVERE.
I’d guess well below anything that could be considered severe. But that’s not worth a plug Nickle. 🙂
🙂
It means, no tornado, winds less than 58 mph and hail less than 1 inch in
diameter. 😀
the National Weather Service defines a severe thunderstorm as having large hail of at least 1 inch (2.5 cm), severe (storm-force) winds of 58 miles per hour (93 km/h) or greater, 1 or more tornadoes (though this would result in a tornado warning), or any combination of the three
But all in all it doesn’t mean a thing as NOTHING will happen as per usual! 😀
We have gotten several good claps of thunder and pouring rain and a nice breeze. Rain starting to taper now. Maybe a tenth of an inch.
Well darn. Glad someone got something fun
No power outage 🙂
We got a brief gust of wind and a few rain drops. 😀
Thanks, Vicki and OS – you both basically answered my question. As the answer means basically nothing much will happen. I guess it’s just fancy wording – I just never saw that term used before.
JJ – have a safe and enjoyable trip!
TK – hope your dad is enjoying his birthday!
In Sudbury all we got was a heavy shower. Looks like more to the west.
When will the tropics wake up? Take a look and see:

interesting that the line is coming together some and looking more potent as it
approaches the cape and moves off shore farther north. 😀

Lol
Hehe
No poof-a-rama up here. We were on the edge of it but a rapidly intensifying cell that threw a few downpours in here and some good claps of thunder, one quite bright flash of lightning cutting right through the daylight. Nice way to end my Dad’s 90th bday festivities.
Well if there had to be natures fireworks I’d say there is nothing better than a 90th birthday. How perfect
He had a good day. His mind is not nearly what it once was but he enjoyed the family being around. 🙂
I remember my dads 90th and would say the same but as I look back I know every second was special for him even thiugh he didnt understand all of it, and its a more than incredible memory for all of us. I know you will treasure it as we do 🙂
Working on The Week Ahead.
Preview:
…Cool, crisp Monday – September preview.
…Moderates Tuesday into midweek, some clouds arrive.
…Near a front Thursday-Friday so on the fence about how warm/hot it gets.
…Next weekend, dry weather, near to above normal temps.
When my kids were babies Sears made blanket sleepers that had an emblem of Winnie the Pooh on them. We called them Pooh Bears and I remember the occasional August day that they’d have to wear them at night. I loved those days as they were a brief reprieve from the HHH but we knew there was more to come. And my kids still call blanket sleepers Pooh Bears 🙂
🙂
Thanks everyone. My toilet got fixed today now I am just waiting for the part of the carpet the weather got on. I am thankful it could have been a lot worse.
I hope the weather down in Virginia is good. Enjoy the early September preview tomorrow and Tuesday.
Blog updated!
