The Fall preview was evident strongly Wednesday with a cool, gusty breeze, crisp air, and sunshine with passing clouds, but that was the peak, and the last shot of such air for some time. Instead, the pattern we are now heading into is one of late Summer warmth and eventually a return to humidity (though the next few days will continue comfortably dry). The one bump in the road I see is the close-pass of low pressure south of New England sometime this weekend. Right now, I am optimistic that this low pressure area will stay far enough offshore to only toss some cloudiness into southern New England for a time and keep its rain away. Otherwise, the weather will be governed by high pressure for the rest of this week and probably much of next week.
Updated forecast for southeastern New England (southern NH, eastern MA, and RI)…
TONIGHT: Clear. Lows 46-58, coolest interior valleys, warmest urban centers. Wind W diminishing to under 10 MPH.
THURSDAY: Sunny. Highs 75-82. Wind W 5-15 MPH.
THURSDAY NIGHT: Clear. Lows 50-60, coolest interior valleys, mildest urban centers. Wind WSW under 10 MPH.
FRIDAY: Sunny. Highs 77-83. Wind WSW 5-15 MPH.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY: Partly cloudy (more clouds south at times). Lows 55-65. Highs 75-85, coolest South Coast.
MONDAY-WEDNESDAY: Fair weather, increasing humidity. Lows 60-70. Highs 80-90.
Thanks TK! Bring on some nice weather for the last week in August please!
TK, thank you. I like the forecast. π
Thanks TK! π
Thanks TK. Great weather with the promise of more.
Thanks TK!
i predicted this would happen like a month and a half ago. lol due to band camp lol
On his 11PM Broadcast, Todd Gutner indicated that he DID NOT think temperatures would reach 90, close but not reach it. π π
Good morning all.
ERINis born and we now have our 5th named storm. Long range computer models, including the NHC models, have this one going POOF in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the one approaching the YucatΓ‘n Penninsula, is progged to redevelop
in the Gulf.
Here is the NHS HWRF model:

Thank you OS – I saw Erin was born this morning but wanted to wait to hear your input and see your links!
Water temps are still right up there – down a bit
http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/natl.html
I think they are down considerably since the peak
a few weeks back. But that is more for up in this
area. I think just South of the Cape and Islands, it’s
still up there. π
Top layer is getting pushed out by offshore winds bringing up the colder water from below.
You never want to see a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico since its going to hit land.
New Orleans should keep a close eye on this one.
Perhaps nothing happens, but be alert just in case.
Thanks, TK.
There’s a feel of fall in the air this morning. But I am looking forward to one more little heat wave before the summer is over.
And I am looking forward to a get-together w/everyone. Larz Anderson sounds nice. Years ago, when my husband was a car writer, we visited the antique car museum many times. It’s a beautiful park.
Hi rainshine – a car writer –very interesting. I was hugely into muscle cars back in the day but love going to the car shows now. We have been to several at Larz Anderson — lovely area!
Thanks TK!!
Loving the forecast for the next 10 days for NH!! A trip with 14 people would be plain miserable if the weather was crappy, but TK took care of a nice forecast!!
Larz Anderson park sounds perfect!! Let’s talk out a potential date in late Sept?
I’ll give the park ranger over at Larz Anderson a call today for some info π
I had my engagement pics taken there a couple months ago, that’s why i had it in my mind
Lovely area for the pictures – and thank you for suggesting it and looking into it. I looked quickly online but didn’t see anything re cookout areas. Doesn’t mean it isn’t there because as I said it was a quick look
15,000 Patriot fans just applauded and woo hooed Brady as he’s dressed walking out to practice π
Is he playing?? I was hoping they’d be smart enough to let him rest for a while.
Charlie, I bet your hear stopped yesterday π
Ummm sure yeah but I’ll tell ya I know Brady won’t be here forever so I’m ready to find a good replacement over next 2-3 yrs.
How you feeling, Charlie!!
I think he’s fine, but I think mallet has showed improvement over last yr and I back mallet more than most, most want to trade him,, Brady is good for 2-3 seasons, Mallet will be nfl ready next year imo
SIL was a huge mallet supporter and believes he’s a big let down. He said tebow is improving with help but he thinks his arms are just too big to get it done
Will see, I just think Mallet is learning and is the type of kid that eventually his talent will come out π
SIL would like to see Matt Flynn.

Sorry this is late, but I thought some might find this interesting about the weather
that did NOT materialize here the other day, but DID in New Jersey:

Wow.
Curious. Are they considering NJ southern New England
I don’t think so Vicki. I think they were just saying that
the conditions that were in Southern New Jersey that day, are
the conditions that would be necessary in Southern New England
to get morning tornadoes. π
Tx. It seemed odd
And here is something that is just a wee bit scary, the 12Z Canadian at 180 hours:
http://moe.met.fsu.edu/cgi-bin/cmctc2.cgi?time=2013081512&field=Sea+Level+Pressure&hour=180hr
Of course, this is NOT supported by other models, but interesting to look at
just the same. π

Yes, we knew that. The question is, will they be sustained after they come off
the coast? Time will tell. IF so, could be very interesting indeed!!
Looking forward to watching. Thanks again OS
Does anyone know the chances of an actual hurricane eye 74mph+ coming onshore between Hartford and Boston? I would guess at less than 5% but I actually don’t know
When? This year.
I know your sil is in to detailing his cars. Has he ever heard of putting Windex on the paint to polish it. I got guys telling me they swear by it, but not sure. So I did an experiment and used it on my front grill and aluminum wheels, it shined it up like a new diamond.
Let me ask him.
I used to use pledge in my Mach I. Didnt have it long enuf to know if it hurt it. What kind of windex?
I think the amonia would harm the finish. I’m not going to try on the truck. Just was wondering if he heard of it. The way I was told it was a quick in between buffer up. Weird.
I haven’t heard back but my first thought is its too acidic too. Will let u no what he says
We do have an Erin.

The Gulf low seems like a tricky one to predict. I need a met to jump in here and give me a prognostication.
Ok I’m here. 92l. Shall we call her Vicki will most likely have Mexico in her sights. However the US fro Corpus Christi /San Antonio to New Orleans / Natchez need to be very aware
Hi longshot. Don’t suppose you thought for a second I knew what I was saying. π I’m curious as to a real answer too
Actually since its in the gulf all need to be aware :).
Alright, what did I miss ? π Up in NH for a few days, in the woods, left the electronics home.
Welcome back! Sounds like your having a great summer!
Thanks …… Yes, very fortunate to get to enjoy a large part of the summer and travel around. I’m kind of ready to start a new school year though.
Its been very quiet here. You sure had great camping weather. What a summer you have all had!! Marshfield fair starts today. These are the two weeks we are usually there
I cannot believe its time for school again
Blog updated!
