Weekend Friend

5:44PM

Almost half way through a beautiful weekend, in which high pressure is our good friend. This high will continue to dominate through tomorrow. One slight difference between today and tomorrow will be the potential for an afternoon sea breeze to push a little further inland tomorrow, which would cut back on the staying power of the warmest temperatures of the day. We’d also have to watch for a remote risk that a few building clouds along the edge of the sea breeze could grow enough to produce an isolated shower, but the risk seems so low that it isn’t even really worth mentioning in the official forecast (will monitor this tomorrow).

By Monday, high pressure will be slipping off to the east and a small area of low pressure will be drifting into the northern Mid Atlantic. This will allow somewhat more humid air to make it into southern New England, though I still expect the weather to remain fair. By Tuesday, this low and an approaching cold front will bring the chance of showers and possibly thunderstorms. Right now it appears that it will move offshore for a break in the weather Wednesday, before the next system arrives with a shower risk Thursday into Friday. An early peek at next weekend indicates improving weather again.

Updated forecast for southeastern New England…

  1. Thanks tk 🙂 Vicki do u think California chrome wins? I pick wicked strong 🙂

    1. I hope so but like wicked strong also. I was hoping for him in the derby but love strongs story

      1. There are a few others who could easily win including curve and curlin. Charlie, I am not a huge fan of racing as I’ve seen what it does to horses but these guys are treated like kings.

  2. Thanks TK. Ok I have a very serious question. How did frank Sinatra jr get older and I haven’t aged a year ??

  3. Made it to 82.9 here. ZERO effects from any sea breeze. We’ll see about tomorrow.

    1. I absolutely agree with the owner. Usually I’d say sour grapes. But I’ve seen what competition does to horses. I never paid much attention and thought it was always same field. No wonder I didn’t recognize half the names

  4. Was over on Facebook, see that our friend AceMaster got married. They couldn’t have gotten better weather !

It rained some for us, right around the start at the church. Of course, in November, we’re lucky it didnt snow. 🙂

    1. Ace sure did have a perfect day/weekend. Hmmmm you mean you wouldn’t have liked our blizzard and thundersnow ;). November is when my youngest was married also.

      1. I would have liked it, but my wife knows I love the weather and had it done that, I would somehow have been in trouble. 🙂

Hope Mac has had a good recovery day since surgery !

  5. Answer to yesterday’s AccuWeather Trivia Quiz. (I am sorry I did mot post this sooner, but my PC was on the blink and I had to let a utilities program run for 5 hours just to get it back to where it is now semi-usable.)

What unusual weather event took place in New York and Vermont on July 2, 1992?
    A. Earthquake
    B. Tropical Storm
    C. Tornado Outbreak
    D. Frost Outbreak

    The correct answer is D.

      1. Yes, thanks Longshot. Believe me I know what it is like to have PC issues. I have been having them myself lately.

I narrowed the answers down to C or D and I guessed (D) right! 🙂

  6. Good morning, heading to skipjacks Patriot Place for some live jazz and brunch at 10am, then pool this afternoon, temp is 63.3 degrees, looks to be heading to the mid 80’s today, hopefully u have central air or an ac, enjoy the day!! 🙂

    1. That does sound like fun. We’ve had a minor setback to opening our pool (filter issues) but we should have it up and running today or tomorrow.

    1. At 9 AM it’s up to 78 at Logan, However, wind is dead CALM, so we know what
      that means. 😀

We have an outdoor graduation party to attend lat this AM sp this is one time
I’d LIKE to see that Sea Breeze kick in!!!!!!

      1. Ha. I closed the screen just as I saw this comment. I had to reopen to see if I was hallucinating 😉 Enjoy your party :). Your side comments make me laugh!!

  7. Top 10 day I’d say. 80 here. I think when I checked. Short while ago it was 63….or the thermometer is wrong. Sure went up quickly

  8. Dew points are creeping up. Need to keep it dry.

Up to 57 at Logan, 59 at Norwood and 57 at Blue Hill.

  9. Sea breeze has kicked in at Logan. 10AM temp dropped back to 76 with
    wind from 140 Degrees (SE).

78 here. Don’t think that sea breeze has penetrated this far yet.

  10. The “partly cloudy” portion of today’s forecast is about to kick in across the area.

  11. 84 degrees here, and wow my northern european white skin got tan yesterday while i was in the pool . I did lather my self with sunscreen lol

    1. JJ if you are still reading mac asked how they are finishing the golf. He didn’t hear yesterday Thank you

  12. Hi Vicki…. This tournament has had weather delays for the first three days. They came out this morning at 7am local time to complete the third round and then immediatley started the fourth round. This is taped delayed coverage airing on CBS.

  13. Your welcome. I am looking forward to the U.S. Open next week and going to be rooting for Phil to complete the grand slam on the course where he had his first of his six runner up finishes in the tournament. Its amazing but this tournament maybe his first top ten finish of the year.

    1. Mac is also hoping for a win for Phil. Can’t remember if I said it, but in each hospital within a few minutes of getting to his room he checks to make sure golf, channel is on. We also know not to visit after 3:00 on weekends 🙂

  14. 87.6 beautiful degrees. Clouds mostly moved on but they were fun to watch. 47 dP and lovely light breeze. Perfect. Ceiling fans have been running since morning and keep the house feeling very nice.

  15. Made it to 84.4 here. Not much of an effect from the sea breeze.
After the party, took a ride to Nahant. It was only 73 at the tip of Nahant where
it sticks the farthest out into the ocean.

    1. Perfect day for a graduation.

Oldest daughter and family went to Humarock. She said the water was so,warm they stayed in it the entire time. She is the child who detests so saying that tells me it was warm.

    1. Hahahaha. I just posted above. She said there was a sand bar way out so perhaps water was shallow enough to be warm.

      1. Yup, that Easterly breeze (not too strong) was just right to
push the Sun warmed surface layer of water right onto shore.

It can provide the warmest water at the beaches.

          1. Really. That’s all. Wait till I tell my daughter. The sun must be very hot. And younger daughter said there is no parking without permit along brant rock wall

              1. Is that new…there is a small lot at hum that always charged $5 but it was chained yesterday. Today someone must have just taken chain down

    1. Gorgeous. It is a lovely park. The most amazing part of looking out over Boston feom the Brigham is how green it is. So many trees were kept. I love it

  17. We have a bunny family. One of the babies seems to have a string around its neck. He will munch on clover just feet from us but won’t let us closer. Any ideas how to remove string are greatly appreciated
