I don’t see anything severe tomorrow should thunderstorms develop so I am only going with a 1 which is MINOR on the 1-4 scale meaning should thunderstorms develop they will remain below severe levels but as always I’ll keep an eye on it.
Bruins now 40:00 away from the Eastern Conference Finals!
80% of all the severe tstorm watches or warnings happen between June 1st to July 15th
Beautiful sunny day today and
Mild temps around 65 at 9am 🙂 Big cookout today
Clouding up in Sudbury now. Dark clouds off to the south and west. Dopplar radar shows a line of possibly heavy showers (thunder?) just south of Worcester moving northeast.
NWS just issued a severe t-storm warning for Framingham. I can hear thunder now. Not good timing as my son is riding his motorcycle down the pike from Brookline to Framingham.
As I just commented on the BZ blog I did not think storms would get to severe levels today otherwise I would have given a 2 which is MODERATE level activity on the 1-4 thunderstorm index meaning isolated severe weather as we are seeing happening right now. If you are out this afternoon and hear thunder head indoors.
It wasn’t severe but a fair amount of thunder and lightning. Just enough to have me worrying how my son is doing on his bike. The rain was perfect to water in the grub control stuff we put down this morning. John we found the Bayer products. Thank you. Do you prefer all of their products to Scott?
So far all we have been getting is a lot of thunder and an occasional raindrop. Looks like it is clearing around here – for the moment. Dopplar radar shows the heaviest rain just east and south of Framingham. Severe thunderstorm warning for Norfolk county. Looks like there is more activity to the south and west of Worcester area.
Vicki – I don’t know when your son will be driving. Hopefully it will be after this storm passes.
Showers and thunderstorms are popping but currently only one severe thunderstorm warning although I would not be surprised if some of those other cells are producing lightning as well as some gusty winds.
Rainshine daughter was just at sudbury farms and said lots of thunder there. Looked a bit less threatening as I looked over your way. Son was travelIng Rt 30 west and made it to natick from his apartment in Brookline. He had to turn around. We are heading to get him to go to other daughters Kentucky derby party. Stay safe everyone. Rain is steady in wayland. Blue sky between dark clouds. Great sky watching
I should add the storm came from nowhere. I finished yardwork and sat in the sun and out of nowhere heard thunder. I checked radar and nothing showed for at least 15 minutes. Thunder was the rolling kind that sounds as if it’s inside a metal tube.
We are still getting occasional claps of thunder and right now it is just overcast. Sometimes the clouds break and it does make for a beautiful sky. But no rain here yet. Sudbury seems to be sandwiched in-between the rain but no doubt we will get our share.
Vicki – enjoy the party and you and everyone stay safe! The rain just started here – I expect it will get heavier.
Thank you Rainshine. Still steady rain with thunder along pike in weston
Dark clouds and a bit of thunder mixed in here in Dorchester but no rain so far. Still a rain delay at Fenway. I was also surprised to find the streets wet this morning. I don’t believe anyone predicted overnight/early morning showers including TK.
I didn’t have them in the forecast. But they missed me here. Depends on where you were.
So far, most of the storm action has been both north and south of me here in Woburn. I have been on the northern flank of the activity to the south with some periods of showers & distant thunder.
That radar blossomed over the north shore for some reason, occasional thunder and lightning are making their appearance, along with a steady and at times heavy rain.
No rain at all in uxbridge Was pitch black over upton area a while ago
Finally started pouring in Sudbury give or take 30 mins. ago. Has been very dark due to low overcast. No breaks in the sky now – ‘though it looks a little brighter to the south. A lot of the heavy storms have moved north but there is still plenty of rain to the south according to dopplar radar.
What is interesting to me is that it has been thundering pretty steadily since approximately 1 p.m. around here. And it still is.
The dark sky isn’t really due to just low overcast, but the thickness of the cloudcover. In the convective setup, you have a very thick layer of clouds at low, middle, and into higher levels. And when you’re in the shadow of one of these clouds, it can be quite dark.
Thanks, TK!
Amazing that you and I can’t live 4 or 5 miles apart and we had rain from 12:45ish and was still raining at 3:00 according to my daughter
We are up on Cape Ann for the weekend, Magnolia to be specific. Day started out sunny, then around noontime, beautiful towering cumulus clouds appeared. One heavy shower with a bit of thunder around 4 to 5 pm. Sky is darkening again and just heard another rumble of thunder. Hope everyone is well !
NEW BLOG!!! 🙂
