Patience In Blog & Weather

3:25PM

A quick note to all the readers here, whether you are just a lurker or a regular comment contributor: As you can tell I’ve been trying out several different blog styles. These are provided by WordPress, and are limited. I am likely to get some others in the next few days so the trials will go on for a while. Please have patience while I see what works best for all. It’s possible that we end up back on the old boring set-up as well. But I think giving the different styles a try is worth it first!

As for the weather, the humidity is coming back, or is actually back now, just not as noticeable as it was on a light easterly wind and with limited sunshine Wednesday with areas of low cloudiness from the ocean. But the wind will turn southerly ahead of a cold front tonight and Thursday and you’ll feel the humidity more, especially as it warms up Thursday with lots of clouds and some limited sun. The front will slice through the region Thursday night, with showers and thunderstorms, then clear the coast on Friday, which will end up a bright and drier day. The weekend should be mostly decent, but a weak system coming along from the west late Saturday to first thing Sunday will cause an interruption to the nice weather with lots of clouds and some risk of showers. Fair and pleasant weather returning for the end of the weekend will continue Monday. Another weak system may be in the vicinity early Tuesday of next week with another shot of dry air following this.

  1. I can tell you right now I like this one best of all.
And the silly menus are back on the side instead of all the way at the bottom! That was the worst.

I actually like them better on the left than on the right. We tend to start on the left. And here it is on the same side as all my site admin menus on the updated version. Makes it real simple for me, personally.

  2. Sometimes when the font appears too big or too small to a mobile device it’s more some kind of setting related to the phone, not the blog itself. I had to make adjustments in the past when using my phone.

I would love it if there was an app by WordPress but I don’t know of one. I’ll have to look more into that.

  3. I am kind of neutral on this new format.

I like all of the goodies along the right side, but do not
like the BLACK background to go with it.

The yellow on the right is neutral for me as well.
I kind of liked the orange. Oh well.

    Still looks nice. 😀

    1. I may still be able to play with those colors somewhat. I just changed it and am doing some at home stuff in between so not a lot of time to poke at the blog yet. 🙂

    1. KEEP them there!!!!!!!

Those dew points are headed SE, else we’d be in a risk area
      for tomorrow. 😀

  4. Why can’t we just use the old site that worked for everybody. If it’s not broke don’t fix it . Sometimes at work if I want to peek quick it’s nice to see those recent posts to the right of the screen. Just my two cents the old was perfectly fine .

      1. If that is the case TK, then ignore my comment regarding going back to the old format. 😉

What I don’t like about this version (besides scrolling issues) is that you can’t tell a “reply” from an original comment. The old format had no lines between replies (which explains my reply to John).

    1. I absolutely agree with you John. As I have been saying from the beginning….go back to the old format. It is good to know that I am not the only one here with the same opinion.

  5. I’m not seeing the menus on my iPad. And I had to hit the comments icon to be able to post. I like last one better but not if it can’t have menus. Functionality always trumps aesthetics IMHO

  6. Interesting….
On the recent posts, I am not there.
The last 3 from Vicki are there.

    I guess I don’t rate at all. 😀

    1. TK is one of us is not showing it should be me. I’m finding this very difficult to use on the iPad. Will check computer in a bit. It is not intuitive. The other two were

  7. Well wonderful. Each version seems to bring people further apart on opinions.

Hmmm. Maybe I’ll just let AccuWeather design my blog. That would be a perfect design, I’m sure. 😛

  8. On the computer, this is the most visually pleasing. However, on the phone and tablet, the poster names are tossed to the bottom. I am in the process of downloading an app for WordPress but am not sure if that is more for designers than users.

Initially, I also cannot post a comment without hitting the comments icon at the top of the page. Odd

    1. So what that means on ipad and iphone is that if I scroll to bottom, I have to scroll back up to hit icon and then back down to comment. May shut me up so perhaps that is a bonus 🙂

  9. I’m sorry but if the link to the recents comments are not put back on the top I will suspend my $20 monthly membership payment to this blog.

    1. Awwwwwwwww. TK in the end remember that it is the content and not the look that makes this blog. And also remember that whatever design you end up liking that we will all post just as much (yep me too). People don’t like change but the pain disappears quickly. You do what you want. I for one really appreciate your giving us input and hope none appeared to be criticism.

  10. Now that’s more like it. I bet if we took a friendly poll here most would say I think keep like this the old blog. It’s easy and it works. Why get all fancy for nothing. Thanks tk for the blog as I love it and just voicing my opinion.

  11. TK, serious weather question for you. With the unusually early snows in the west and very chilly air mass coming into that part of the country, is that a sign of less snow for us too? I know early snows for us usually means less than normal snow for the season, but what does early western US snow spell for us, if anything?

    1. It doesn’t say too much at this point. Our pattern is usually more representative of the 2nd half of Autumn. So there’s time yet.

  12. Dark earlier. Fall is a coming. I love when we switch to dark early. Of course I also love when days are longer.

      1. Yes I did. And to those leaving in the dark and arriving home in the dark…..you are too old to believe in the boogie man 🙂

        1. Yup. Same with winter most people hate it but learn to accept it, they have no choice if this is where they want to reside .

            1. That’s ok the fall foliage doesn’t do much for me, granted it’s pretty but it only last a few weeks, and then after that we have brown for 6 months, I only like this time of year bc of football 🙂

  13. I can’t believe how much the daylight has changed, aside from the summer seeming like it went by way too fast. Even when temps were above normal first part of september, the reduced daylight made it feel like fall is coming

  14. Ok, this format is fine, except for that baby shit green color again!
what’s up with that? Are you remembering your early years? 😆

      1. You don’t like my use of the S word??????????????? 😆

I like to tell it like it is and poop is way too mild. 😆

    1. A lot of what I do is create power point presentations. I set colors that look great together. Sadly on every screen and through every computer they never look the same.

  15. I like this format so much better :). I accept change by all means but not if it affects our viewing pleasure. Keep this until they come up with better versions. I am always on my iPhone and the other versions sucked plain and simple.

    1. Well said hadi and I agree . I think most here from my count like the original format. That’s all I’m saying on the issue. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it .

  16. There’s an area of showers and storms near the Bahamas ….

Slowly, it seems to be gaining the attention of the NHC.

I think a few days ago it had a short term chance for development at 0%, long term : 10%.

Tonight, its up to 20% and 30% respectively…..

The upper flow down there has high pressure aloft and I think its projected to be haeded west.

Sometimes, its these sneaky little things that blossom into trouble.

Perhaps something FL and the Gulf coast better keep an eye on ???

  17. There are numerous other themes available.

And I’m going to review them and try out many others. It’s not a matter of the blog being broken. It’s not. But I’ve always wanted to try other designs and this will be taking place. I never intended to have the same unchanging format for years on end. Things evolve, and this blog will be one of those things that does on some levels, while maintaining its original overall feel.

  18. The dark side of the year is a fact of life in this part of the world. It’s not going away. That’s why early on I chose to embrace it rather than adopt a gloom and doom outlook on it. It was worth it, and if one thing isn’t changing than that’s it.

I don’t care if I’m in the minority of people in terms of liking that time of year. It is what it is. The majority can live in their cloud of gloom and I’ll stay where I am. Thanks! 😀

    1. I just sighed as I read. I never quite understand not wanting to simply enjoy what we have. It makes life soooo much more fun
