(Blood, Sweat, & Tears fans will get the reference in the headline above, otherwise just read on…)
Low pressure will spin in place over the Northeast for the next 6 days, providing daily episodes of showers and rain in one of the longer unsettled weather stretches we will see in some time. Many of you will not like this, unless perhaps you suffer pollen allergies. The frequent showers will keep pollen counts down.

After a batch of steady rain early this AM, we have been lucky to receive some brightening. I can see the disk of the sun through the low clouds. The air is on that borderline between feeling cool and damp…….and……mild and muggy…………..Blood, Sweat and Tears….good music !!!!
I love some of those old classic songs, even some of the ones that were not so well known, but were to me because we owned the record. 🙂
Loved Blood Sweat and Tears and it works for today, Tom. Had heavy rain overnight and very slight brightening this morning. Rain has just started again. Looks like a heavy dose coming and we got seed down on grub treated spots on front lawn hoping the week to come would give it a good start!
My husband wants to know what his chances are of golf Thursday after 4:00 in Wayland and asked me to say thank you in advance.
Early guess: Less than 40% chance he’ll be able to play in dry conditions.
Thanks TK.
The goods things about this unsettled stretch are the lawns will look nice and the pollen levels won’t be that high.
Downpour as I type here in Boston! 🙁
Hey Philip! Saw your request yesterday. I just wasn’t home much at all the past few days. My feeling on the summer can be summed up in 2 main statements. 1) Not a repeat of 2010. 2) Not a repeat of 2009. Details soon.
Thanks TK for your response…I look forward to those “details” soon. 🙂
Topkatt I am thinking the same that this summer will not be a repeat of 2010 but I still think we average above normal for temperatures and near normal for rainfall.
Just a touch more info: I’m going to lean a little cooler than average for the summer. Rain below normal (dry June-July, wet August).
After looking at yesterday’s climatological data for Boston, I realized that March 14, 2006 was the Mother’s Day Flood. Boston received 3.77″ of rain. I remember my basement was quite “wet” to say the least…almost as bad as March 2010.
If I remember correctly it was quite wet before the Mother’s Day flood the previous week which did not help since the ground was so saturated to bergin with.
I just hope we have a nice summer.
