9:00AM
This is what happens when you are not home enough to update as much as you want… A holiday weekend sneaks up on you. But here I am, on this fine Saturday morning, before being out again most of the weekend. Hey at least most of it’s fun stuff! π
Let’s skip the technical discussion and just get right to the forecast for the Boston area, and we’ll talk more about upcoming patterns in a longer discussion later this weekend. π
NOW (Saturday morning): Low clouds will melt away by 11:00AM in Metro Boston with a grey sky turning summery blue. Watch that transformation take place and enjoy.
REST OF TODAY: Sunny to partly cloudy. High from the 60s at the beach to near 80 inland. Wind S up to 10 mph but onshore along the coastal areas.
TONIGHT: Low clouds and areas of fog redevelop. Low near 60. Wind S under 10 mph.
SUNDAY: Low cloudsΒ and any fog burns off by mid morning then mostly sunny to partly cloudy. High near 80, cooler right at the shorelines that face south. Wind S to SW increasing to 10 to 20 mph.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy with areas of fog but neither low clouds nor fog should be as widespread as the previous couple nights. Low 60 to 65. Wind SW around 10 mph.
MONDAY – MEMORIAL DAY: Partly sunny. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. High 85 to 90. Wind SW 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 62. High 84.
WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny. Chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low 66. High 89.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny. Low 56. High 73.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 54. High 70.
Thanks TK – any idea of how late in the afternoon the storms will be Monday? We are going to the parade in Belmont and our son will meet us but will be on his motorcycle and I’d hate for him to get stuck. He’ll be back to his apartment in Brookline by 2:00 so I’m hoping storms will not form until after that.
Rough guess on timing is 2PM to 6PM being the window on Monday. I don’t think we’ll be seeing widespread coverage though.
Thanks TK – we will watch the sky and the radar!
Happy Memorial Day to all – and a Thank You to all who have served and who are serving now.
The clouds have been in and out in Sudbury and awhile ago it got really dark so I looked at doppler radar. Showers are popping up in the area. It is sticky out but the east wind is keeping the heat down – for today.
Thundering here in Sudbury – no rain yet.
Now it is pouring! Sorry for all the blogs . . . . enjoy the rest of the wknd. all and stay safe and dry if you get one of these showers/storms!
Hi Rainshine – sorry for misspelling your name below – was typing quickly! The cell went over us and literally blew up just as it got past where I am and went over you. Very interesting to watch.
As an aside, my three (nearly four) year old grandson was in his inflatable pool outside and knew right away to get out. And even better he came running for me so we could watch the booms and lightning together. I think we have a future met here π
Hi, Vicki – Does sound like your grandson could be a future met!:) Hope you are enjoying your wknd. Saw your blog earlier – have fun in Belmont on Mon. (I think that’s when you said it was) and hopefully any storms will wait ’til later.
The sun is out here now – on the satellite it looks like circulation just off the south coast of MA. At this point it doesn’t look like there could be anything heavy but who knows in this humidity.
We were planning to go to Rockport sometime this wknd. so I am hoping the weather will co-operate tomorrow. I don’t care if it is just cloudy – just hoping for no storms.
Wow the humidity is better!!!
I love Rockport. We go to Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester a lot and then down to Bear Skin Neck. Do you head to the beach or another fun destination!
The parade in Belmont is all of five minutes but was a favorite of my mom’s especially when my kids were born and she could take them. There’s a park in town she fought very hard to keep as a park after the elementary school burned down so many trees and bushes are planted in her memory. We’ll have a picnic there later π
I’m off to Uxbridge and hope the weather holds there since plans are outside!
We go to Gloucester to a park of some sort (on or near Rodgers Rd.) and park at a marina and walk to the park and watch the boats. Beautiful. At Rockport we always head to Bearskin Neck for the scenery and the shops – I have been going there since I was a child.
We are on our way out too – hope the showers end soon!
Rinshine – thunder here in Framingham too – looks to be moving northeast so rain may have moved past us – no rain yet
If I’m reading some info correctly, it’s quite possible and even likely that late next week we go back into a seasonable even below normal temp pattern, I believe this warmth will last till Tue then cooling back π
The EURO is showing a trough developing over New England next weekend, which will keep the humidity down, but if there is sun, it could turn into a very nice weekend next week. Also the NAO is forecast to tank in the longer range, not so confidant in that, but this weather pattern sure is interesting.
Don’t mind the spelling error π
The front coming through Wednesday looks like it could be produce some MODERATE Level Activity if everything comes together. The storm prediction is highlighting parts of SNE for severe weather on Wednesday. As for today severe storms up in Vermont but some have popped here. I don’t expect severe weather in SNE so any storms that do fire will be MINOR which is a 1 on the 1-4 thunderstorm index.
After Memorial day it looks like highs 70-75 for highs, and lows 50-55, it looks like a 7-10 day pattern of cooler slightly below normal temp, I think summer becomes more consistent after the 2nd week of June, have a good night π
Good Morning. Sun and cloud mixture in Framingham this morning.
Does anyone have an idea of what the weather might be next Saturday? It’s our grandson’s fourth birthday and they are hosting it outside – they hope!
Well yesterday’s forecast wasn’t too bad except ONE MINOR LITTLE MISS: I never anticipated enough lift on the seabreeze front to create showers/storms in the early afternoon as they occurred. Hope it didn’t mess with anyone’s plans.
I was at Star Speedway in Epping NH from about 6:30PM to 9:45PM last evening and watched the transition from a partly cloudy sky (stratus to the E, some mid & high clouds W-NW) to a low overcast from the E and eventually fog. Quite chilly there too, ocean rawness.
I’m going to put up a new post which will really be an edit of the current one, and later tonight the usual week ahead update. I’ll be at Hampton Beach late this afternoon into tonight for a walk, some games, and fireworks. It’s a nice replacement for the Rock 101 Sky Show that I used to attend on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend in Manchester NH until they stopped doing it last year due to lack of funds!
Don’t think I will get surprised by a line of showers/storms today! Enjoy your day everybody!
