  1. REPOST OF ACCUWEATHER QUIZ originally posted by Longshot.

    Today’s AccuWeather trivia Quiz.

The dewpoint is greater than the temperature …
    A. When the relative humidity is 100%
    B. When clouds form
    C. When it is raining
    D. Never

No one should get this wrong. Answer later today.

    1. Tom, Vicki, and OS have all answered D.

One can argue the answer could be E. None of the above. πŸ˜‰

      1. So then, Please tell us how/when the dew point is higher
than the air temperature. We are eager to learn. πŸ˜€

        1. I wonder if latent heat is involved and just by mentioning that term, I’m already above my understanding. πŸ™‚

          1. Here is the exception to the rule. TK knows his stuff.

In a super-saturated environment like in cases of very strong updrafts in a thunderstorm it can occur naturally.

              1. I had to look it up. Of course you knew that. I was thinking it was not possible. IN general it is not, other than that situation as far as I know or perhaps some sort of special laboratory simulation.

              2. I saw that too Tom but there were only four choices and we all know how I ALWAYS stay within the rules 😈

  2. Hmmm

The wind has picked up considerably. As a result, the temperature has
actually dropped a bit. Was up to 56.1, now back down to 55.4.

  3. Thanks for the update TK !

Since earlier this morning, the high cloud shield has pushed S and E …. and a few cumulus have come in from the N and W.

    1. That is great !!

As an aside, the background of the ocean and being up so high is pretty amazing too.

  4. I’ll get to the explanation of E later. I’m on the road to Plymouth.

In the mean time, look up supersaturation. πŸ˜€

  5. Can you say Good-Bye Claude Julien?

See ya. Nice knowing you. And btw, Good riddens.
You can’t win games IF you can’t put the puck in the net.
Defense is nice, but you have to SCORE! NEVER liked him from day one.
I have been complaining about him for years, even the year he won the
    cup despite himself.

He has now LOST the bench. It is a hopeless situation for him.
Time to go Claude. Find some team willing to screw their players for
your pathetic defensive style. Hey Claude, go back to Canada and stay there.

    End of rant. πŸ˜€

    1. Yes I know, I’m going to hear it now about what a great coach he is/was.
      I disagree emphatically. Cheers.

    2. I believe he stays and is a very well respected coach in the league. Would actually be shocked if this were to happen. Some top players that can go before him and they can start with Milan than chara in my opinion. I would be happy to see the GM go though. Either way Jacobs JR is going to shake things up. I believe they don’t get in as well.

      1. Hey you could be correct, but imho, Peter Chiarelli goes, Claude Julien goes AND a couple of players as well.

Time to CLEAN HOUSE over there.

  6. Mt. Washington yesterday, 40F + and rain.

    Today, 16F and snow.

At least at 6,000 ft, warm fronts and cold fronts have weather that make sense to their names.

    At the surface, not always.

Its warmer today, temp wise, after the cold frontal passage than during the day of the warm frontal passage.

I had a professor at LSC and his focus was broadcast meteorology and he always challenged us to think about the use the terms cold front and warm front when we put out forecasts over the school’s radio station.

Using today as an example, he’d have pointed out that ……… your going to tell the public that a cold front came up through and yet, Logan will probably end up with a temp higher than yesterday’s 55F ???

    1. Yup. Absolutely.

Don Kent used to explain that by saying actually the air behind the front
is milder. It’s more of a Wind Shift front. πŸ˜€

  7. 54.5

    Here’s a thought I didn’t see mentioned.

With the SNOW sticking around so long this Season, it appears we basically
MISSED MUD Season, at least around my house, which is a very good thing. πŸ˜€

  8. Out trying to get a lot of yard work done. Not the pleasant day I expected. 53 degrees and feels quite chilly with the wind. Hopefully tomorrow is much nicer. Back to work!

    1. We have filled ….mostly son in law…..a 20 yard dumpster and the cooler wind is refeshing. Even in a short sleeved tee I am warm πŸ™‚

  9. Temp 55.2
Cloud coverage is only at about 10% or so. A mostly sunny day to my surprise.
I was just out. There is a Bite to that wind and a real feeling of coolness, even though
    it looks really nice.

BUT, I’ll take it anytime over raw damp and misty.

  10. Hi from Water Street in Plymouth!
Great day out here. Cool breeze. Mild air. 58 here. Few shredded and flat cumulus.

Downsloping is helping the sun dominate.

    1. Old salty. Did you read book also? Mac is looking for a new book and sounds as if it is something he might like

  11. Shots fired on capital building. Report says shooter neutralized but one report said suspicious package. It is in lockdown. Is this getting to be a bit too regular

    1. Recording for Mac. He is dozing. I know he is hoping tiger does well. I’m sorry Freddie didn’t make the cut πŸ™

  12. Answer to Today’s AccuWeather trivia Quiz.

The dewpoint is greater than the temperature …
    A. When the relative humidity is 100%
    B. When clouds form
    C. When it is raining
    D. Never

The answer given by AccuWeather is D, which probably true 99.99% of the time.

        1. But is there any such thing as a polar vortex?

And I have been coughing and sneezing since I came inside and I don’t have terrible allergies.

          1. Once upon a time I saw some pine pollen (which is really one of the only pollens that’s easy to see) blowing around in a circle on my patio. THAT was a “pollen vortex”.

  13. I’m back on Woods Hill in Woburn. Beautiful day down in Plymouth today. As mentioned above, the downsloping and drying in the lowest few thousand feet today was able to overcome the rising air that would have created more cumulus, so just the partly cloudy sky from the morning and midday was generally enough to cover it, otherwise it was a mostly sunny day. Cloud see the deck of high clouds from yesterday’s front still in the SE sky all day. The air in the Plymouth region felt quite mild when you were out of the wind or in the sun. If you were in the shade with the wind you could feel that bit of nip from the cool air coming in as the sun was trying to heat it up. That again was the reason that areas failed to break 60 today. And now tonight as the wind drops off under a clear sky, look for a pretty chilly overnight! That leaves a lot of work for the sun to do tomorrow before the southwest wind arrives, which I think finally does happen late. It’s a certainty that the South Coast & Cape Cod will be much cooler than most other areas, but everywhere else should easily go into the 60s. Does someone approach 70? Maybe, but I think that is far more likely Monday, again away from the ocean-influenced South Coast & Cape Cod which will remain cool even with the southwest wind off the chilly Long Island Sound and nearby waters.

Later tonight I’ll take a look ahead again and put out update #2 by early tomorrow.

In other news, Dad is back in the hospital but he’s only in for a minor UTI, which is quite common to folks his age and for some reason especially ones with dementia. All should be well and he’s expected to be home tomorrow at some point. He’s been doing pretty well with his exercise and moving around, and he was all proud of himself about checking in on my mom when she was down for the count with that stomach bug. πŸ˜‰

Well time to watch the Bruins possibly last game until next Fall (unless a miracle happens) and then the BU / Providence NCAA Hockey Final on a DVR delay. And holy smokes it’s almost time for my Florida trip!

Wednesday: Travel day / Downtown Disney evening & night.
    Thursday: Magic Kingdom
    Friday: Epcot
    Saturday: Hollywood Studios
Sunday: Animal Kingdom daytime / Magic Kingdom nighttime
Monday: Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon daytime / Anywhere we want nighttime
    Tuesday: Travel day…coming home!

    1. Thanks tk. Hope your dad continues to do well after this setback. Great day today weather wise. My son had a karate tournament this morning than we went for the first time to patriots place and spent a few hrs at bass pro. Sounds like you have all the days covered for vacation, wish I could say the same. First time yard work tomorrow.

      1. It looks like Friday is the best chance of thunderstorms down there so it works out as Epcot has several hideaways. πŸ™‚

I’m doing some yardwork tomorrow afternoon. Trash pickup because we always get some blowing in from the main road and it was under snow for weeks. Then we’ll go after the leaves that are stuck under and behind bushes and loosen the lawns with a quick raking.

    2. TK sorry to hear your dads UTI returned. Sadly, not only is it typical for those with dimentia but it adds to confusion for those with dimentia. Doesn’t seem fair. My dad never had them but macs mom did often. Prayers and hugs.

        1. Sorry to hear about your Dad being back in the hospital TK. You will have a blast at Disney! It poured the day we were at Magic Kingdom in Febraury but we still had fun. We went to the Aquatica water park and it was great. Not busy and was only 28 dollars each which I thought was a good deal.

  14. I’m watching a TV show where a town is shut off because of a blizzard. Our snow hasn’t completely melted and Yet I am wishing we were having a blizzard. So sad

      1. I figure life is good when you just enjoy it. But even I was surprised that when I listened to the wind and saw the snow flying that I missed it πŸ˜‰

  15. I have a feeling the Bruins will win this game…

The problem is this: Buffalo needs to beat Pittsburgh or it doesn’t matter what the Bruins do tonight. They needed to avoid having themselves in this position.

  16. On another hockey note (I’m watching 2 games on 2 screens at the same time, both started at 7:30)… I just saw BU Terriers score 2 goals in 4 seconds. I don’t think I’ve ever seen 2 goals that close together before.

  17. Wishing your dad a quick recovery TK. Glad you enjoyed your day in my beautiful town. If I was around I would have headed down to Water Street to find you. πŸ™‚

  18. Pittsburgh wins. Season over. Nice 7 year playoff run. Only 1 cup to show for it, but at least they got that. On to a bit of a rebuild now.

BU 3 Providence 2 in the 3rd period of the NCAA hockey championship game.

    1. Make that 3-3. BU goalie just gave Providence a free goal…wow.

Bruins tie the game in Tampa with 1 minute left. Not that it matters! But may as well go out with an OT win.

    1. HAHAHA!!
I don’t mind BU but Providence deserved it tonight. They played better overall.

  19. In my world ……..

April 12th, I’m marking it down as the true arrival of Spring this year.

Now, nearly all the snow, even most of the piles, is melted.

Noting some green and growing grass. A few trees budding.

And the weather expected today and with what is coming the next many days (no 30s or 40s for daytime highs) looks like sustained spring to me.

    Thank goodness ! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    1. Until the pattern changes next weekend that is. πŸ˜‰

I noted yesterday some of the largest parking lot snow piles are still in the towns just south of Boston between Boston and Plymouth.
