SUMMARY…
Low pressure offshore nudges just far enough eastward for some clearing today but throws another batch of clouds back at southeastern New England Wednesday. Another system takes its place late in the week with more cloudiness but for now leaning toward the bulk of any rainfall staying offshore. We’ll see how fast this second system departs as it is the key to the weekend forecast, in terms of the level of improvement. Will lean optimistic for now but keep in mind that if that low doesn’t get out of here fast enough, it will impact the weather at least for the start of the weekend. If high pressure sets up just right we could have a legitimately warm day Monday with the exception of the South Coast, but that is many days away.
SOUTHEASTERN NEW ENGLAND FORECAST…

Thanks Tk. Chilly outside this morning in the city.
Kind of a biting wind, no?
Thank you TK. We shall see. Hoping for some warmth. 😀
Talk about Global Warming….Check out the Temperature for next Monday!!!!!

😀
Although the “May Day” storm is currently predicted to stay off shore, it is
dangerously close. Any wobble could RUIN the weekend for sure.
Get out the fans and keep this sucker out to sea!!!
Hopefully Florida will still be good.
Have fun in FL, John!
Thanks.
Thank you TK
Cloudless sky this morning in greater Philly. Beautiful! Think I’ll stay a while
Cloudy skies, raw nasty wind. Typical SUCKY New England Spring day.
Don’t come home yet. 😀
Thanks TK!
Thanks Tk 🙂 mostly sunny not a bad day, truck says 50 degrees 🙂
WOW!!! A talking Truck! Pretty cool!
Hahahahaha….I often wondered how Charlie found a talking truck!!!
Toys R Us
Lol
Does it talk like the Knight Rider? He he
Sun finally coming out! NICE!
As a response to Joshua’s post on the previous blog about the slow spring. Good read from Eric Fisher confirming Joshua’s observations. Most vegetation about 2 weeks behind.
http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/04/28/garden-outlook-bring-on-the-green/
He is correct. Flowering bushes and flowers in this yard are two weeks and then some behind….with a caveat. For this century. I know this for a fact. Same daffodils, same location, bloomed right around April vacation week. I have pictures of their flower just above the foot of snow on the April 29, 1985 storm.
Should have said ALWAYS bloomed right around april vacation week
I went back and checked last year’s blog. The daffodils bloomed here first week of April 2014. I made mention of the fact that, Joshua, you said they were late last year also. You were right then just as you are now. They were later in 2014 than they had been for about a decade. I also made note that they bloomed on March 13, 2013. That was more in line with this century.
And continuing on the same theme. I checked 2012 On April 22 I noted the following using a bit of Vicki shorthand.
Daffodils past by end of march. Lilacs full bloom 4/20. Leaves well started. Peonies to top of wall. Lily valley some flowers not opened. Flowering trees at height or past for many
Peonies to top of wall means 2.5 feet and I am just barely seeing the shoots. No lily of the valley showing at all yet.
I can’t take another second of this cool, cloudy weather. Fortunately the sun is out today. Clouds and cool temps look to dominate our weather possibly until Sunday. Might we break out of this finally next week? And for how long?
Alisonrod: Agree, it’s hard sometimes to be surrounded by clouds. But, today is nice, with some sun coming through. I like the temperature, and admire the cumulus cloud formations that I can see from my office.
Well, our Inuit friends (I assume they’re Inuit) finally broke the freezing mark. No daffodils or signs of spring up there yet. I believe it’s their first day above freezing since early October:

Isnt it wonderful ………
The sun is helping some though. 🙂 🙂
No it’s about as Shitty as it can get!!!!
LOL 🙂 🙂 🙂
Ain’t nothing we can do about weather but how we react to it…now, that is in our control.
Appreciate the little things……As a favorite bear of mine said… “Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.”
Really nice day, temp is 63 degrees 🙂
Not here it ain’t no 63!@(#*(!@#*()!@#(*!@(#
Turned out to be a nice day here as well. Just hit 60 which was the forecast high away from the coast.
62.4 here – I’m heading out to deck!
Classic seabreeze. Vicki, Charlie, Acemaster, and others are basking in warm sunshine, while OS, Hadi, and other city folk are chilling out. Felt better here at the coast late morning than it does now. I’d say it’s around 50F right now. Looks nice, but is on the cool side.
Was 51 at the airport at 3PM
At 4Pm it was 53, so a little better.
Probably not so bad at my house. 😀
Classic SPRING Sea Breeze to be sure.
I dont know if Eric Fisher is trying to tell us something ….
But the Boston Harbor shot, with the city in the background (where they show the evening forecast), was the one from the winter, where the first 100 yards of water was ice covered. 🙂 🙂
Also, I’ll believe 70s next Monday and Tuesday, when I feel 70s ….. here, in Marshfield. 🙂 🙂
I supposed we can put this into perspective and take the gusty breeze, or the chilly coast, or the eventually cloudy period, over some of the other conditions in other parts of the world at this time. 🙂
I know you are 1,000% correct with that TK, but ….. I’m still going to complain. 🙂 🙂 🙂
A big balloon for you TK 🙂
Temp has jumped to 64F at Logan, as the seabreeze has been replaced by a gusty NW wind.
I find it interesting how the land breeze almost always takes over late afternoons between 4-6 pm…like clockwork. I remember Todd Gross would refer to it as the “six o’clock jump”.
Though that is very often true, today’s wind shift was not because of a true seabreeze weakening but a shift in the wind direction in response to the orientation of pressure gradient on the back side of the broad low centered to the east.
I just heard on the news that the game in Baltimore for tonight will be cancelled again and tomorrow night’s game will be played but NO FANS WILL BE ALLOWED. It will be played in a completely empty stadium which is unprecedented in MLB history.
On a scary note, crowds are currently building in the streets yet again.
It is a terrifying situation. And remarkably sad. Yes, the game will be played in an empty stadium
Temp is still 64 degrees, if I could bottle these types of days up and save them I would lol
TK – Will the advertised early next week warmup be the “consistent” one that we have been waiting for…or temporary as usual??
It’s being advertised as consistent, but that will not be the case. We’re not even close to being done with ocean influence and upper lows. They will share with warmer episodes.
We have to watch a boundary as early as Tuesday next week that may result in temperatures at least 10 cooler than the numbers you will see on today’s day-7 icon on the TV weathercasts.
Take a look at the 500mb pattern out at the end of the GFS run for the 12z & 18z runs. One would get really excited looking at the 18z if they are looking for an early taste of Summer, but what sits on the 12z run should be more than enough to keep someone from taking a 300+ hour forecast on ANY model to the bank.
It’s just a computer simulation. That’s all it is.
Mr. Consistent, Clay Suckholz has done
It again!!@ 5 runs in 3rd inning. WAY
to go!@@@@!!!!!
Gotta love those 5 aces!!!
Jr says 80 next week. I’LL believe it when
I see it.
Fwiw
Bernie says werkend storm is in play
For sne Saturday.
Bring on the rain, lawns could use it 🙂
I hate this android keyboard..
Tk I’ve been looking at some different forcasts for Florida next week. From what I’m seeing looks pretty warm with limited rain. If you have time could I get your expert opinion. Many thanks.
For next week I like the idea of a very weak trough over them, not enough to cause widespread showers, but enough to keep the upper air chilly enough for lift when the seabreeze front is around each day. So, daily scattered showers/storms, but no all-day rain. Temperatures near seasonal normal.

48hrs till the Patriots are on the clock, going to a draft party Friday and Saturday, the beginning of the 2015 NFL season. Goodnight 🙂
1) I don’t buy rain for Saturday. I don’t agree with Bernie.
2) Will it reach 80 next week? Hmm. Somewhere maybe, but not Boston. In fact I would not be surprised if Boston is BELOW 50 for at least part of next Wednesday.
HI all!
I just posted a new blog. Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. The text is a little different. I’m just testing out a few things. No big changes, just playing around with some minor formatting.
