  1. Well I think it snowed in Bangor last night.

Pollen count through the roof on Mon / Tues.

I am going to win my snow bet … The last snow mound at the Riverside T stop will not be entirely melted by May 31st. If there is any snow there on June 1st, I win.

  2. Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quizzes.

    1. On a clear day, if you are standing on a beach looking at the horizon, approximately how far ahead can you see?
    A. 1 mile
    B. 3 miles
    C. 5 mile
    D. 10 miles

    2. Which type of tomato will set its fruit all at once, and is more suitable for containers? (Sort of weather related)

    A. Heirlooms
    B. Determinate
    C. Indeterminate
    D. Cherry

    3. Since March 1st, Boston has had 5.64” of rain. Approximately how many inches below average is this?

    A. 3”
    B. 4”
    C. 5”
    D. 7”

I believe the answer to # 1 is a “best approximate” because the answer could be related to a person’s height. Answers later today.

  3. yahhoo 90 and sunny on weds :)))) love how they always fall on my days off.. not to mention weekends with sun and nice temps 🙂

  4. Thanks tk 🙂

There’s already 5-600 people at Gillette in the Brady Rally, could be a fairly sizable rally considering the Brady rally doesn’t start till 11am 🙂

  5. I thought u were kidding at first, then I looked it up. I was disgusted to be honest. A rally for Tom flipping Brady?!? I though people protesting and getting arrested was bad, but this? On Memorial Day weekend when we’re supposed to be honoring and remembering the TRUE heroes? What are we doing people!!

  6. Thanks for the mid-weekend update.

So you’re not buying the heat wave business, eh?

Barry was really pushing it. Didn’t see him last night, so I don’t know IF
he has backed off or not. 😀

  7. Buoy temperatures after the chilly day and nights and strong NW winds likely
    causing some upwelling.

Upwelling is a process in which deep, cold water rises toward the surface. This graphic shows how displaced surface waters are replaced by cold, nutrient-rich water that “wells up” from below. Winds blowing across the ocean surface push water away.

    Boston buoy: 51.8
    Stellwagem buoy: 49.8

Disappointing that they are down several degrees.

Hopefully that will warm up during this week. 😀

  8. 6z GFS showing some CAPE and Lift for Wed and Thurs. Most CAPE and Lift look to be in western parts of SNE.

    1. Not much potential to really get much above 80 today. The air mass does not allow it.

  9. I have to agree on the Brady rally, but I suppose this is one of those freedoms we enjoy BECAUSE of the brave men and women that fought for us, be they living or deceased, and those that protect us today. And though it is true that I am using a large part of this weekend to enjoy those freedoms myself (did some outside projects yesterday and went for a cruise and a shopping stop last night, and today watching the Indy 500 with my son before heading to Hampton Beach for the first fireworks of the Summer), I will never lose sight of what Memorial Day means, and I will spend several hours tomorrow morning observing it, along with my son, attending the parade and ceremony in Woburn. I’ll keep thinking of those that sacrificed for us when I mow my lawn, and when I grill tomorrow evening’s dinner. Eternal thanks to every one of them!

    1. Nicely said. I have no problem with the rally. When we support someone we admire, it makes a whole lot of sense to me. Nice to see the Boston fans rallying.

  10. 1. D D B for trivia quiz

    2. The 30-degree dewpoints are probably the last we will see for awhile until late September/early October at the earliest. I would say no lower than mid-upper 40s until then…and 50s are going to seem refreshing in the coming months. Too bad this isn’t Arizona.

    3. As for Dave Epstein’s new look, I like his new beard as long as it is kept trimmed and short like it is now…quite distinguished. I much prefer him over Pamela Gardner whom I just don’t get which I all I will say about that. Just too much “perkiness” early in the morning for my taste.

    4. Thanks TK as always! 🙂

  11. Airport is 77 at Noon. 75.7 here.
    Nice.

Heading to Pascoag, RI for Family Cookout. Now that’s a place you can’t get to from
    here. No direct route.

  12. 84 is the car temp in North Conway. Very windy on the lake this morning. High waves caused the canoe to tip, or it was human error.

    1. Have fun. With all of the years I spent time in North Conway, I’m not picturing a lake. Tons of rivers to fish in and mountains to ski, but darned if I can picture a lake

        1. Thanks Coastal. We tended to haunt areas from North Conway to Jackson so I see why I’m not familiar. Summers we’re spent fishing Ellis River. I had also forgotten about echo lake. You have a beautiful weekend!!

  13. Logan makes 81. Meanwhile Nantucket is 20 degrees cooler at 61. See? Logan is not ALWAYS the pit. 😛

Heading to Hampton Beach at the conclusion of the Indy 500. 😀

  14. FRIDAY COULD BE A LULL WITH DRY AIR AND HIGH PRESSURE IN PLACE IF
YOU BELIEVE THE GFS OVER THE ECMWF. LOW CONFIDENCE. CONSENSUS OF
FORECAST GUIDANCE HAS ANOTHER WAVE N PUSHING A FRONTAL BOUNDARY S
AND STALLING OVER NEW ENGLAND MAKING IT A FOCUS FOR A PROLONGED
PERIOD OF WET-WEATHER. HAVE SOME DOUBTS WITH CONVERGENT MASS-FIELDS
N AS SURFACE REFLECTIONS FOCUS S WITH THERMAL-INSTABILITY-MOIST
AXES. SHOULD HAVE A BETTER IDEA AS WE GET CLOSER IN TIME.

I know rain on the weekends will ruin oitdoor plans for many but really need the rain!

    1. If it was to rain on the weekend of May 30-31 I wouldn’t really care, personally. The only tentative plans I had was to take a ride down to an air show in RI, but if it doesn’t happen that’s fine.

  15. Answer to Today’s AccuWeather Trivia Quizzes.

    1. On a clear day, if you are standing on a beach looking at the horizon, approximately how far ahead can you see?
    A. 1 mile
    B. 3 miles
    C. 5 mile
    D. 10 miles

    2. Which type of tomato will set its fruit all at once, and is more suitable for containers? (Sort of weather related)

    A. Heirlooms
    B. Determinate
    C. Indeterminate
    D. Cherry

    3. Since March 1st, Boston has had 5.64” of rain. Approximately how many inches below average is this?

    A. 3”
    B. 4”
    C. 5”
    D. 7”

The answers are C, B, and C respectively.

    1. Geez, I checked a map to see how far it is from Nantasket beach to Gloucester. With a NW wind we could see from Hull to Gloucester (easily 12 if not 15-16 miles) when living in Hull. Always blew our minds. Also can see from Revere Beach or Lynn Shore to Scituate or further south on a clear morning. These are distances of ten or more miles, I am sure.
I think C is an InAccu answer.

      1. Hmmm. The tall ships were in Marblehead years ago…over a decade. We could stand on the benches at Humarock and see the planes that accompanied them and flew low and the tops of the masts. I hadnt thought of that. It’d be maybe a bit shorter but not too much

        1. Yup. I was in Marblehead when the Constitution and Tall Ships arrived. Amazing. Nevuhfugetit.

          1. They are brewthtaking. I would have loved to be in Marblehead. We had hoped they’d come in up the coast and go by Humarock. But nope. We saw them come into Boston Harbor back in the 1970s. Ed brooke was a family friend so we got to watch from his office. Years later when our kids were young and they were docked in Boston we took one of the guided boat trips and got up close and personal.

        1. Well, this is pretty cool info, if it is true. So a few feet makes a big difference. If I am driving along a beach road I am quite a bit higher than sea level. (Especially Lynn Shore Drive!) And a sighting of the coast across Mass Bay is a sighting (siting?) well above sea level.
          OK.
So the whole horizon definition is the key.

Either way, give me a northwest wind and I can see forever. That’s the coolest thing.

  16. On this Memorial Day, thank you to this who have served, who continue to serve and to their families. God Bless you all.

  17. I respect the men and woman who have fought and those still in the service, I do not believe that some of these wars were necessary and just. I also do not believe it should be just those i believe anything affiliated with the service should be recognized.
